What makes me King of the Cool Parents (besides the giant saws and implements of destruction), you might not care.
When Crookshanks texts me on Friday afternoon wanting a ride to a homecoming party I don't hem, haw, dawdle, or give her a guilt trip for the short notice.
I just ask for an address (which is two blocks away from the boss's house) and away we go.

Oh, sure. My only point was to make a joke about using manipulative tactics as a way of mass-informing the US populous by lampooning the media’s tendency to zero in on literally anything he says as well as his tendency to rant at anyone who says anything negative about him. It’s a fantasy, but using foolishness for social benefit is a long standing daydream of mine. Alas, some things are not meant to be.

Tonight has mostly been spent making sandwiches for the little lad's birthday party tomorrow, arguing with children about bedtime NOW and then drinking mead out of ye olde drinking horn. Time well spent!
Also, don't get me started on trains. I know why the government is spending billions on helping twernts get to and from London slightly quicker when we're still having to put up with being crammed in cheek by jowl on two-carriage 70s era tin grumblers at rush hour, but that doesn't make it any less infuriating.

Except for that last part. Making bigots lives harder- or inhibiting their ability to blend- is ALWAYS worth it.
But that's my point. You're NOT making their lives harder or inhibiting their ability to blend in. You're just causing yourself to be mistaken for them.

I am so tired of Homecoming.
I am so tired of listening to the kids explain why TPing is such an important Homecoming tradition .
I am so tired of trying to guess which anonymous brat went and vandalized another class's float.
I am so tired of the kids in my class playing the victim when I tell them to stop throwing candy at cars or hard enough to hurt people. I wish we'd actually been able to vet who was allowed to ride the floats because there is a small faction on my list right now...
I am so tired of asking for volunteers to decorate who flake last minute only to show up at the dance and complain about how much it sucks.
I am so tired of the kids who refuse to get involved with anything at school that might let them have a say complaining about how much everything school-related sucks.
I told my co-sponsor I was sorry I couldn't make it to the dance this year, but I am so, so unbelievably relieved that I got out of chaperoning because of the play. I guess I've finally reached the stage of being sort of okay with lying, after all.
I'm just tired.
I cannot believe I am saying this.
But it may be time to punish them all because a few kids are being jerks.

I'll even tolerate the hideous local opossums.
Opossums are pretty cowardly around pets (unlike raccoons), they're almost immune to rabies, and they'll eat every tick they can catch.
Raccoons, on the other hand, are concentrated evil with an amazing marketing department.

I know I've said this before, but how f~$*ing stupid of a navy is Cheliax if you can't sail AROUND a giant ENTIRELY STATIONARY hurricane?
I don't care how dangerous open ocean is. A hurricane filled with demon squids, dragon turtles, and 150+ MPH winds is worse.
The idea is, they'd be expecting Cheliax to go around the hurricane, no one expects them to go through it, which I believe involved various bargains with an archdevil.
Which all seems a bit contrived, but you know, it's pirates, so it's all good.

Huzzah! Absolute laziness (and a few hours) solves all of my problems once again! And once again I have learned exactly zero moral lessons about not being lazy and not drifting through life in ignorance!
EDIT (because I can do that on this post, and not my others for some reason): it returned with... 35% power and nothing else changing. Because of course it did. Hit buttons to turn it on and it did. Well, I'll say one thing for teaching Impus Major to drive in the Bay Area: He sure as heck takes emergencies caused by other drivers in stride!
This afternoon we were driving down Richmond, a north-south artery through, of all places, Richmond. A woman simply blew threw a Stop sign and cut Impus Major off fairly severely. He didn't even bat an eye. He hit the brakes, went a little to the right so he'd go behind her, and kept right on going as if it was perfectly normal.
And around here, the sad fact is, it is.
But his reactions and instincts are amazing.
Speaking of journals, I've updated my NWN Rise of the Runelords Journal with the addition of Sins of the Saviors. I'll add Spires of Shalast tomorrow, along with the prologue and first "chapter" of my next NWN Runelords plotline, The Waking Rune, since it's well past midnight here.

Three things avout Tactics Ogre LuCT:
1) This is a proper Japanese grind heavy m~$!***$&$$#. Not for winning - you can do that just by making it through the fights. But unlocking Cressidia was an exercise in repetition, and Deneb...damn Deneb why you need so damn many glass pumpkins? Like, what FOR?! SO MANY epic characters, at quite a few are so buried beneath obscure needs. Aaaaaaand I love it.
2) The game TOZ loves, Knight of Lodis, is a prequel telling the story of Lanselot Alphonse Tartare, the primary antagonist of this game. I didn't realize that until I learned Alphonse is given the name Lanselot at the end of KoL, and that KoL came out after the original LuCT, and saw the sprites side by side... So that's cool!
3) Just f@*+ the Palace of the Dead. 115 levels. Barely any exp. Barely any skill points. All to unlock epic weapons, armor, skills, and classes that if you can beat this dungeon you really don't NEED.
So what I'm saying is it's a proper 1990s style Square game (made in this millenium).

The tiny lad's birthday party, complete with deafening bouncy castle, went as planned.
Then ALL (DE) and I watched the super fantastic blockbuster movie [Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter, so a very good day overall.

Yesterday at the State Fair, we were watching the opening day parade and Teensy Valeros commented that a number of the floats (particularly the Dallas Police, Fire, and Rescue float) looked like giant pinatas. (Pinatas shaped like police cars, fire trucks, etc. are fairly common... you see them in the supermarkets.)
So there was nothing else to do but to try to spread the rumor that the objects on the float *were*, in fact, giant pinatas, and if you hit them repeatedly, funnel cakes and corny dogs and stuffed midway prizes would fall out.
