This morning we went to CVS and she got herself just such a pair. And admits that she loves them.

It's all in the selling...

I may appear around your house a lot more often than normal. For no reason whatsoever.

Also A HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO GOTHBARD! I know this year is emotional for her, please give her nothing but my best wishes and let her know I am proud of her son.

I am proud of my nudity as well. But that has nothing to do with your son or anyone's son really. Save for my dad's son. Who is me.

Miss you dad. Wanted to hear from you today. I drank all my beer last night, which you would have been happy to hear. Took mom out for German food. She continues to be able to *really* put it away, which is just as cool as it was when you were my age.

Hi, everyone.

So, having a day to reflect on what went wrong with the second PFS game that I had on Saturday, I can give my honest opinion. The scenario was 10-19: Corpses in Kalsgard. Without spoiling anything, the game was going well until the final battle. The party makeup was an Arcanist (myself), a Bard, a Cleric, another Arcane caster, and a Bloodrager.

In the final battle, the Bloodrager went into the catacombs of the BBEG, and was immediately bit by a Ghast Dire Badger, taking Con and Dex damage. So, he quit the encounter. The rest of the group would have been fine continuing, but going on without a frontliner would have been suicidal. We tried to cajole him into returning, but he adamantly refused.

Helpful hint: If a module has "Corpses" in the title, go in Cleric-heavy with a couple Paladins. We got no experience, no prestige, no items, and only 800 gold. Damn, but I feel cheated. Not sure whether I want to keep the chronicle sheet, or throw it away.

Good morning John and that does suck. Sadly, sometimes adventures are not balanced properly.

Hi, Sharoth. Well, they weren't the games I signed up for. I signed up for the level 1-3 games, but that GM bailed. In hindsight, I should've left then. But, you know, gaming.

Finished my Marvel marathon with Endgame, man that was satisfying. Also ran into a friend at the theater I hadn't seen since highschool and it was a blast catching up with her, she sat on one side of me while my sister sat on the other and we talked through the whole movie. It's all good though cause we went to a day showing and the theater was mostly empty so we probably won't burn in the Nine Hells like most people who talk during movies deserve =p

A belated Happy American Mother's Day to those amongst us as well. I say American Mother's Day, because here on the Emerald Isles, we celebrated it back on March 22nd (4th Sunday in Lent).

Good morning, LordSynos and Yuugasa as well as everyone else.

My sister brought up a good point though, Endgame was so satisfying partly because we had just watched the whole series so we caught all the inside jokes and references and the other movies were fresh in our minds. Not sure how we would feel if we hadn't seen the others movies recently.

I remember Infinity War seemed a bit odd the first time I saw it but this last time it was back to back with the other movies in my mind so it was much better, I wonder if Endgame would have been a similar experience sans the recent movie watching.

Probably. I've heard the MCU described more and more like an expensive TV show rather than disconnected movies. You've got some that are more standalone than others, but it really helps to watch it all.

I am tired today, had a busy weekend. Also, hayfever is wrecking my face, which is inconvenient. :P

Weekend:
Friday night, I headed off to a friend's gaf, where he ran a Pathfinder game. We spent the first couple of hours just trying to figure out how to securely leave a room without giving up its contents to others (we were aware we were being scried upon, long story). Eventually we got out and started a exploring a ruins, but after successfully stealth assassinating a group of cultists, one of our numbers botched a stealth roll (rolled a natural one, for a total Stealth score of -3), and alerted the adjoining rooms to our activities. The GM decided to call it a night and we'd pick up at that point next session.

Saturday I got up early and went to a couple apartment viewings with my partner and our son. His main criteria was whether it had a bath or not, so he was pretty happy with all of them. :P Some were okay, some we could settle with, and others were just not fit for purpose. Hopefully we'll hear back from the first category. We grabbed a bite to eat in town before heading home then.

Sunday, I brought the little man to a friend's birthday party in Jumpzone, which is like a big trampoline fun house. He had good craic. Then I dropped him back to his mum, and went to my own flat, where I cleaned, did laundry, and got myself ready for the week ahead.

Okay, I just tipped the last gallon of gas from the jerry can I keep in the garage for the lawnmower into my car. But I only have ten miles to drive in the next two days, and I get paid Wednesday and Whingey Wizzard gets paid on Thursday.

Meanwhile, we're still waiting to hear whether or not The Job is happening. They were supposed to tell him by the end of last week.

Narrative Causality means this is when it really ought to happen, right?

That does not sound right. I have not played or GMd this scenario, but if you completed 3 encounters (encounters resolved by talking count), you should recieve 1 XP. Prestige will be dependant on primary and secondary success conditions of course. And gold will depend on parts completed. If you missed out on the BBEG and the dungeon, it sadly could be a fair chunk of gold. You would still get access to all items you had found up untill this point.

edit

spoiler for the scenario:

So quickly leafing trough it, you should have had enough encounters for your XP. I see a city streets map, a piece of the thieves guild flip mat, labeled 'safe house' and the necropolis flip mat (labeled graveyard).

Prestige is harder. You would have missed out on your first prestige, but the second could have happened. I have of course no idea what you all did, so here is the text:

If the PCs free Humush’s family from the necromancer’s
clutches before Humush kills Quil Tabberdash, they
succeed at this adventure’s secondary success condition
and gain 1 additional Prestige Point and the Blessing of
Nivi boon.

It looks like the last part also contains most of the gold reward. I could easily count a 1255 loss in lower subtier in gold.

Yes, and I am truly hoping he gets theme music and everything when he tells you he got the job.

So far my colleague is leaving on the 16th, she got to train her replacement for a day, I'll have to cover the rest. Her replacement is coming only on the 22nd so I need to hold the Fort till then. Also I've been busier at work then usual(to the point of having to work on the weekend and non working hours) due to handover training + timezone coverage issues so I haven't had much time to spam here.

I am sorry to say but at this point of time I would probably have given up on hoping that WW gets the job, because the company is being tardy about it. If they want someone, they should move their sorry @rses faster. I think it is better not to be so hopeful lest you get your hopes up in vain.

It's probably why I get cynical. Or I prefer to view myself as being a realist.

I am of the opinion that everything after season 4 - >they started upping the difficulty to get people to buy splat books. I stopped playing quite sometime ago and don't forsee myself coming back anytime soon. Too many other things to do. Though I believe I have repeated myself several times.

Depends on the size of the company, the hiring process, and the openness of the manager. Unfortunately, it's more and more looking like a red flag, whether or not the job comes through -- if they can't even communicate whether or not WW is hired, how are they going to be at communicating, oh, things like what he's supposed to be doing for them at any given time or so forth?

I've heard a lot of horror stories about uncommunicative managers for whom, "Oh, you should have KNOWN what you were supposed to have been doing, but since you didn't, we're going to have to let you go," is a legitimate management technique.

Our hiring process takes (I kid you not) up to 6 months. And we're VERY upfront about it: "Our hiring process is glacial. We've submitted your name, but it has to go through xxx, then yyy, then zzz. We expect it won't be a problem, but it will probably take approximately this long."

If the hiring manager can't communicate even that much, expect a job where he's constantly trying to figure out what he's supposed to be doing. Maybe he'll enjoy that kind of thing, but I know I sure as heck don't.

Think of it like an AP. I wouldn't run Spires of Shalast without at least finding a way to summarize the other five parts. Otherwise, who's this Karzoug jerk, and why should they go punch him in the nose? It's got the normal buildup and climax for an adventure, but it's far less satisfying without the payoff from weeks of investigation and discovery coming to a close.

And then you've got Reign of Winter, where I would 100% run Rasputin Must Die! as a one-off regardless of buildup because of how out of the norm its concept is. Rest of the buildup isn't bad by any means, but...c'mon. We're all here for Rasputin.

We only went through two encounters. I guess that I'll keep the sheet, but It'll be backwards as a mark of shame and failure. It still stings, though. And I'll think twice about sitting beside that player again.

Grand Lodge

Seen a couple players like that. You might mention it to the local organizer so they are aware of the player causing bad feelings.

We had a player at Phoenix Comicon sit out the final encounter, eating his lunch and not responding to anyone at the table. As far as I know, we've never seen him again.

I should've played the Paladin pre-gen.

Not hard feelings, per se, TOZ. But a bit more caution, perhaps. And I'll follow my own advice on playing a Paladin if the game calls for it. That means looking at the descriptions for all modules being played that day.

Grand Lodge

Party composition is pretty tough to wrangle sometimes.

Ah, the wonderful world of "regulations written by people who have no fricking clue what they're doing" vs. "reality".

For solar, we had to get a new electrical panel. By state law, the electrician had to put in arc fault interrupt (AFI) circuit breakers for both bedrooms. From experience, he told us that since our bedrooms were using old knob and tube wiring, we'd probably have frequent trips because the old wiring caused enough current variation to trip the AFI detector. Basically, false positives generated by old wiring.

So yep, first work morning after the panel went up, and one of the bedroom AFI circuit breakers tripped. Because old wiring. Thus, our remedies are either to simply not use our bedroom plugs for any decent-sized appliances (room heater, anyone?), or to move the plugs off the AFI circuit, violating state law.

There's a good reason for grandfather clauses, people!

That's not something that was a problem at our house when the solar went in. Even the older part of the house (1933) had the wiring updated at least sometime in the last 15-20 years.

Because I don't think I've covered enough vocabulary from the chapters by giving them one lump worksheet pared down enough to not be overwhelming, and giving them one big packet to learn time management basically means they forget to do the guided reading until the end of the book and scramble the night before to fill it all in. Going back through to do a chapter-by-chapter guide with smaller vocab chunks on a more regular basis means they learn more aggregate terms in a more manageable pace.

Also, I'm restructuring to go chronologically to more cohesively pair with my focus on history as we go through the year with more writing/grammar emphasis, so I have to figure which book I'm tossing to make room.

...plus redoing my worksheets every few years means they have a much harder time pooling resources with the upperclassmen. It already cheeses them off that I don't pull my guides 100% from Sparknotes for easy googling.
