Dear grocery store,

I appreciate you being here on cold mornings to allow me to grab a hot cocoa like a real grown-up who just isn't ready for coffee. But we have to talk. You offer two sizes: medium and large. I take issue with this.

You see, "medium," as everyone who knows how words function knows, means between two other things. The fact that you do not have a small size means you cannot, by definition, have a medium. Your medium should be called small because a medium cannot exist when there is only one boundary to define it. Please correct this ASAP.

...also please fix the dispenser because that wasn't cocoa; that was like LaCroix tried to make hot cocoa.

Well, not ANYTHING...

PBPs are easier on your schedule. I mean roll20 your parents will keep bugging you. PBPs you just sneak peaks.

BTW I got back some sanity points. Not feeling that angsty about PBPing now.

That means I was running Strange Aeons solo on...low sanity. Ah well, the solo player knew I was running despite having some issues mental fortitude wise.

My BF and I were talking about this

He was like pointing out how Roll20 screwed up on their customer service(sure they did), and that guy should be able to take actions against them.

But on Roll 20 Terms of Service it states:
“We may block, restrict, disable, suspend or terminate your access to all or part of Roll20 at any time in our sole discretion, without prior notice or liability to you.”
“If you think we removed your access by mistake, let us know and we’ll give you our reasoning. We also have a quick way to restore access without losing any of your data.”

I personally think the guy who got banned is better off going to fantasy grounds to meet his RPG needs then kicking a fuss on the internet, since by their terms and conditions they can just ban him at their discretion. So what if you can prove that you’re not related to another account that has been posting stuff – they don’t even NEED to give a reason to ban you, as per their terms and conditions.

Yeah, it's always funny how up-in-arms people get when they're using a private company's messageboards/tools/what-have-you, and that private company decides to shut 'em down/whatever.

I *do* read their cases, because if a company is "bad" I like to steer my money away from it. But in 95% of the cases, as you say, it's the person first being an a$$hat, then a drama queen.

But time to read on...

EDIT: Yeah, "I'm unhappy because I got banned from a Reddit forum discussing the game," is just not going to move me to change tools in an uproar/outrage. Poor forum moderation just isn't that big of a deal to me. Even the one-sided viewpoint presented in the discussion doesn't even raise my hackles. "I got undeservedly banned, then when I started kicking up a fuss they refused to budge."
It is all in HOW you kicked up a fuss, and I didn't see any links to the actual discussion. How you approached them with your complaint means everything.

Today's going to be a good day:

  • Finished the second of four projects due by the end of October
  • Got totally prepped last night so I can run a relatively worry-free Strange Aeons session tonight
  • Cleared the credit card with plans on canceling it in the near future (it's our Disney card, but since we're no longer doing Disneyland getting 1% back in Disney dollars instead of 3-5% back in cold, hard cash offered by other cards makes no sense, but we don't like to have more than one credit card active at a time so we haven't acted before now)
  • Got Impus Major all caught up on his math homework last night (3 assignments behind)
  • Folded up and put away the last of the camping gear (from August) yesterday over lunch, meaning the house is finally "back to normal"
  • Finished up all the laundry, and am leaving it to the kids and NobodysWife to fold their own, which is a refreshing new development around the house

  • So yeah, being caught up at work, at home, and financially all on the same day feels really good.

I'm sure it won't even last 'til the weekend.

I am pretty sure that things without pockets don't qualify as pants... They might be loose leggings/tights/hoses/breeches instead.

    Pockets for everyone! Always! Everywhere!

Uh, the last thing I translated might had too many pockets... Pockets inside pockets... With more pockets inside.

The problem with women's pockets is that clothing designers don't study physics or engineering.
If you're even vaguely curvy, most back pockets are places in such a way that, as soon as you sit or bend, everything goes right out of the pocket. Force, pressure, vector, trajectory, it's an ugly mess.
Which is why I love bdu's. Or I would, if they were as stylish as they are functional.
The pockets are awesome, they're super comfy and durable, but they look like crap.
Now if someone could design a pair of durable, functional, yet figure-hugging and stylish bdu blue jeans for women, I would give them all my money.

Oh, god yes! I am absolutely in support of this!

    Gods... embarrassment of the morning:

After ALL my tirades about people who fail to mute themselves during meetings, I found a new "feature" of Windows 10:

In Windows 7, I would mute my microphone, then mute the meeting, giving me a "double layer" of protection.

In Windows 10, it synced my microphone's mute button with the conference's mute button, so double-muting = being unmuted while putting away dishes.

Fortunately, I signed on before the meeting started and some of the other participants asked me to pipe down, but still.

    Thank you AGAIN, Microsoft!

Given, a mod on a VTT being an authoritarian prick is low on the Problems on the Internet, With Our Culture, and In The World; but there is value in letting others know when abuse happens. It's a live together or die alone kind of thing; sure, this dude could have just bottled up his anger and simply moved on to the next VTT. But that would have affirmed to the authoritarian mod that his trigger-happy bans and doubling-down on them is consequence-free; and in the long term, the more banees who just keep their heads down and move on the more all VTT mods everywhere get the same message. Thus fostering an entire culture of authoritarianism.

He speaks in a reasonable tone, but consider it from the viewpoint of a moderator:

Mod: "I've locked your account because it seems similar to one we previously locked."
User: "Well, I have used this online tool that shows we're not the same person."
Mod: (Sighing) (under breath) That's not the only tool I'm dealing with.
User: "And I used this 'hostility analysis' tool to show that the original poster shouldn't have been banned either!"
    Mod: OK, we're done here.

Of course I am shortening it, but I don't view it so much 'totalitarianism' as 'a tired realization that you're dealing with someone who is bound and determined to make this an issue'.

You are absolutely correct in that the user used a reasonable tone throughout, but you can be both reasonable and wrong at the same time. Just look at me!

EDIT: I guess the point is, my initial response would have been, "Oh, I guess I can see why you think that. Is there any way I can get the account unbanned? Say, for example, by changing my username and going on a probationary period? I've posted on some other threads so I'd really prefer not to lose this account, thanks!"
The difficulty with the OP's approach was an immediate accusation of, "You're wrong! And here's proof!"
I know of VERY few admins who wouldn't respond to that with a similar, "Immediately dismiss this person as a troublemaker," reaction.
Not how the world SHOULD work, but there you go.

Sometimes, you just want to bust a deliveryperson because their lame-a$$ excuse is beyond lazy.

Impus Major's Halloween dress didn't arrive yesterday. Why not? The U.S. Postal Service's official reason was, "Could not access front door".

So, lisamarlene's been here countless times. We're a small house set back 12' from the sidewalk, with a paved walkway and no fence. In short, the deliveryperson claims that the 12' of horizontal concrete walkway was an insurmountable barrier to them. Mmm-hmm...

But the time was 7:40 pm, so they were probably exhausted and just marking ALL of the packages that way. If it shows up today, I'm not going to be particularly upset about it.

But they should really have a "deliveryperson is too tired to carry on with this nonsense" checkbox for them.

Hm, what do you think went too far?

Granted, the guy was more swift and aggressive than was wise -- "honey attracts more bees than vinegar" -- but what I'm taking from the situation is a wronged gamer advocating for himself (contacting Roll20, asking for an explanation) and then using the tools at his disposal to right that wrong (presenting evidence and proof of innocence, threatening loss of revenue and public disclosure).

I did something similar when a dishonest dealership pulled a bait-and-switch on me back in December -- I told them I'd lodge a complaint with the state attorney general and tell everyone I know how slimy they are unless they honored their initial offer. Which reminds me TOZ, if you're ever in the market for a Honda, I got a good deal from Tempe Honda -- Bell Honda is everything awful about the auto industry.

Anyhow, maybe if I knew more about the life of a mod I'd see this differently. I thought it was fairly easy to identify sock puppet accounts, thus eliminating the need to make judgment calls based on writing style. But I could be wrong.

Isn't that what he did, leave and let others know what happened? Maybe I missed something, but the guy seems pretty reasonable.

    User: "And I used this
    ...

once he started defending the other guy in addition to himself, that ruins his original point.

    Aw, you can feel better!

Whatever I've been fighting all week started slowly and insidiously taking me over today; first I didn't do my morning stretches, then at lunch I really didn't feel like walking. So I told my manager, "Look. I don't have any symptoms, but I'm slowly slipping into uselessness to I should probably take the afternoon off to rest and nap."
Being a good manager, she agreed, so I'm being totally nonproductive for the afternoon.
(Though I did do a major external handoff in the morning. Sorry!)

I finished laundry, which was composed of a few towels.

I also finished Khazad-dum slayer deed, which also happened to clear my Khazad-dum deeds...

Oh, wait, I don't think that counts as productivity...

Found one 650/month, nice neighborhood, 2br, pets okay...a second floor of a house...available immediately. Hope our applications go through okay.

If we get a thumbs up tomorrow we leave Monday, stop at a hotel halfway, and live in Ohio Tuesday. If not...we wait for eviction as we still look.

I hope we get it. Lease abandonment hurts your credit less than eviction. Plus...that's an AMAZING deal!
