And yet.
I'm still averaging four hours of sleep a night agonizing over it (partly over sticker shock checking rates on moving companies, and the house won't be ready for us to move into yet so we'll have to rent for a little while first).
And I just got off the phone with the director and it turns out that, while they want to offer me the position, it's not going to be a head teacher position after all, it would be the second-in-command position.Which is entirely appropriate; the gal who would be moving from second to head in the classroom has been there for seven years, knows the school, knows the families, etc.
And I'm totally aware that my disappointment is entirely, as Ving Rhames put it in Pulp Fiction, "just Pride f***ing with you".
So... again... yeah.
So we're supposed to talk again on Tuesday.
Well, considering that moving back in with my mother was the worst decision I ever made in my life, renting is actually a better call, in my opinion.
I was just coming here to suggest that when I saw the decision had been thankfully made for you.
And good luck! There's, "I'm almost certain I got this job," and then there's, "I have the physical offer letter in my hands," and the two are frustratingly worlds apart.
Hahahahaha.
No lie.And it turns out there's a duplex available in her neighborhood for 800 a month we could probably get for a minimal deposit, no first/last.
Cost of living is seriously different there.
A couple different times I've linked some home prices in the "way out of my financial league" range for my area. From what NH has described for his house, in my neighborhood, it would probably sell for 80-100k. Where I grew up it would be more like 50-60k, tops. Illinois tends to be higher priced than Texas (and most of the South, in general).
EDIT: Oh. Well. Talk about "way out of my financial league"...

Okay. There are plenty of grammatical errors I run across that make sense. I can understand why someone would make the error - run-on sentences that follow their own speech patterns, etc.
But where in the name of Cayden Cailean's heretical AA meetings did this child pick up the habit of putting a space before every punctuation mark?!

weird, I have started encountering people professionally who do that too.
The only time I saw it before was waaaaaaaaay back in high school, where one of the mac kids did the same thing, swearing it was the right punctuation in an electronic document and that everyone else was wrong for bringing in typewriter punctuation to an electronic forum. He tried to prove it with some weird way his printer parsed one type of punctuation vs another.

Don't get me started.
I was out for a few days. The team decided on a standard for referring to the documentation.
The standard is:
"For more information see, Document Name (http://docaddress.com) in the documentation."
WHAT IS THAT COMMA DOING IN THAT LOCATION!?!?!?!?!

Well, in Russian cursive, there's a little divot similar to a period between certain letters, so anything is possible.

But the comma, then italics? Feh!
I have seen the italics before as well. I think thats only for hoity toity stuff.

It's always nice when you can leave a 27 year professional in your industry dumbfounded by your awesomeness.

What it's like living on the Berkeley border:
- I've received glossy pamphlets for at least 6 different candidates
- All 6 were Democrats
- All 6:
-- Included the word "Progressive" at least half a dozen times
-- Included a photo of the candidate with Obama
I figure just to be ornery I'm going to vote for the first candidate who DOESN'T use the word "progressive".
Of course, around here that would just mean I wouldn't vote.
But sheesh people, sheesh. There are a LOT of other adjectives out there! They're getting lonely!

It turns out asphalted shoes are slightly slippery on asphalt, so the plan is to wear my shoes on a rainy day, dangle a stuffed animal in front of the dog and see if I can't shoe surf as he pulls me along by his leash.
Can you just buy a pair of shoes several sizes larger and wear them over your newfangled asphalt shoes?
Also, "asphalt shoes" sounds like Mark Hamill's Joker mobster-buried you under a newly paved road and then put up a little sign to commemorate it.

Scint and I just created two new characters for our NWN server. A Leanan Sidhe bard and a Malenti Sahuagin wizard/eldritch knight, respectively. Both Chaotic Evil.
Sometime in the undetermined future, these two are going to infiltrate the server's elven community. We're not sure what we're going to do with said infiltration, other than something for the lulz. But it's going to happen.

NobodysWife: Yeah. We have plenty! And I've been there. Pretty much every employee is expected to have a bottle of their favorite high-end liquor there, and they frequently have late-afternoon toasts to... whatever.
You know your job is low-key when open liquor bottles in the work area are encouraged.
Freehold, don't feel too bad. We're on a no alcohol policy at work here as well.
Not that it bothers me, I only drink at night. I wouldn't even drink during the day in case it impairs my performance.
