~grins~ Well, time to get back to work. Take care everyone.

We all need that from time to time. Just don't be gone too long.

I was considering adding something like "group hug" -- Naked group hug might be a bit much...

I'm glad I started a conversation about bacon.

It all started with the bacon, egg, and cheese on an english muffin I ate this morning.

It was as delicious as it sounds.

That's a tough choice.

We were all just asking about you.

I wasn't asking about him! I was asking about Mr. E. Shiny Prizes.

So my son was asking (in his best whiny voice) -- "...but why can't I watch that movie?" And I paused and said ... "because of Star Trek II. And because of The Black Hole. And because of Alien."

Which got me wondering. Do any of you have a movie that you probably watched too early and had a scene or two in it that still creeps you out today?

I loved Star Trek II! You mean the scene with the ear invading larvae? Yeah, that was awesome. The thing that always weirded me out as a kid was the movie Close Encounters. The aliens just freaked me out.

A Clockwork Orange on HBO, when I was, oh, 10. Very disturbing, and a lot of things my young mind couldn't comprehend at the same time.

Honestly? Child's play. I know it's stupid, but dolls just freak me the hell out.

Oh hi by the way, I'm back, having wandered the dulcet roads of Huntsville Alabama for the last fortnight, I have finally returned. (I was away at training for the military).

Another movie from my childhood that sticks with me was the remake of the Fly with Jeff Goldblum. The scene where he vomits on that guys hand.....ich.

Liberty's Edge

No, I don't think so...

AAAAH! SHARKS! THERE'S SHARKS IN THE WATER!

Well, maybe that one.

And, just to clarify, I *KNOW* my chance of getting bitten by a great white while wading in knee deep ocean water is *very* slim, but that's the reason it's an irrational fear.

Jaws freaked me out, especially the scene with the severed hand. I watched it when I was much older, and I thought it was pretty silly to be affected by that me as badly as I was.

Not at all. Even as an adult, there's something about the Superman Animated Series version of Toy Man that to me is really disturbing. And that's a cartoon. The first episode of Friday the 13th the Series has a similar thing with dolls.

I liked that series. I've always wanted to run a campaign based on the premise of that show.

The bad acting was part of the charm.

Cujo. When the dog assailed on the car where the mother and child were helplessly imprisoned. And the kid eventually experiencing seizures from the heat and dehydration.

Hmm. I know I had trouble with horror movies growing up, but I can't think of which ones specifically. Terminator was a bit rough, and Alien, but I'm not sure what else...

Scarab Sages

There was a fantasy movie where the hero had a three-bladed sword, two blades of which could shoot out at people. Near the beginning I recall a scene where some dude gets eaten alive by rats. That one creeps me out.

And DragonCon is looking like a real possibility this year.

~Grimaces~ Unfortunately, I will not have the money for DragonCon this year. Or the vacation time. Until I get some of these bills paid down, we will not be doing much travelling.

speaking of horror movies, pet sematary 2. I watched alien, aliens, and a slew of others but none effected much like PS2.

But that was the link you gave me over facebook to make candy bacon so I felt the need to share (again).

LOL Try living where they shot the movie (well, OK, they shot on Martha's Vineyard, but it all looks like Amity Island around here...except now there are a lot of empty McMansions on the shorelines. We get lots of great whites out by Chatham.)

I did a game based on that show, well and a bit of X-files thrown in. It was fun, my buddy even talked his neighbors into playing. Artsy girls who have never roleplayed trying to play Horror. Is a BLAST!!
