We aren't too close to the path of totality. I think I mentioned a few days back that it's like 200 miles away or something, I don't remember. But we do have a lot of people staying here in order to drive down tomorrow to see it. Also, the university starts classes next week, so a lot of people are moving their kids in over the next few days.

I am back from my trip and done with the mini-hibernation that was necessary to begin to recover. I will try to get some photos uploaded soon, but not sure when. It's kind of a busy week. Lots of prepping for back to school. Also still lots of recovering from the trip. Hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage to my joints. We'll see as things start to heal more. But I wasn't going to miss out on doing the things I wanted to do no matter how much it hurt! And now I pay the price....

Saw Social Distortion last night. Good show. Audio quality much better than last show I saw.
Random thoughts: is it acceptable to close down a mosh pit at a punk show when most of the punks are 40+?
70% male audience. Was not surprised.
Lots of ink.
Not much cleavage. Compare In This Moment, where cleavage rampant but less ink.
Would not be a punk show without a bit of political discourse. Caused me to think of Nobody'sHome comment that SD was on the apolitical side.
Jade Jackson who opened - BIG voice for a tiny person.

That's a name I haven't heard in a long, long time.
Let me guess, it was used in some old SF anime?
EDIT: Ok, it does sound like Star Wars name... Until you follow the link to recall who the Kyo are.

Well, no rampant cleavage, but apart from that it was OK, ta. I'm looking forward to trying out the alehouse dagger I made last week this evening.

Saw the eclipse - about 80% or more - today. It was awesome!
(Our eclipse glasses came from my mother-in-law. Super cool!)
We didn't go anywhere - between having a two-year-old and the insanity expected from traffic and other such things, that's a non-starter - but it's really cool to be able to see the thing by stepping outside!
The glasses were neat - everything was invisible in the blackness except the eclipsed sun. Super cool! We also shared them with our neighbors, so they could see, too!
Over-all, it makes me happy that we live in a really, really cool world!

Kidlet's school registration was today. It was kind of amazing. They take care of all of the little annoying things like pictures and paperwork and picking up a class schedule and textbooks before school even starts, and it's super organized. It's such a huge change from his previous school, in a very positive way. He's got freshman orientation on Wednesday, and we have to take care of back to school shopping to get him all the things, but that's it until school starts on the 5th. :)
We saw the light go all funny for the eclipse, but we didn't have any eclipse glasses because places were already sold out by the time we got back from vacation, so we couldn't look up at all. Kidlet was disappointed, so we tried to find some video at least, but that was less than inspiring apparently. Ah well. Can't win them all.
