It's shocking how many uses I've found for a Swiss Army knife since I started carrying one everywhere, given that I live in the big city. It's especially handy in my retail job (sometimes for stuff our box cutters just don't cut well, but mostly for being a general multitool), and it's nice always having a bottle opener, a can opener, and two screwdrivers close at hand.
I love my Swiss Army Knife. I want to get a good multi tool sometime.

I've carried Swiss Army knives my entire life. Maybe 20 years ago I finally paid around $150 for the flagship Leatherman.

It is a scary, scary good tool.

I've tried using people's $20 knock-offs. They're just not the same. Weigh half as much, flex when you try to put too much force on them, etc.

My standard "working on the house" outfit is my Leatherman on my belt, my Swiss Army knife in my pocket, an LED flashlight in my mouth (I only have two hands, after all), and I'm good to go!

~laughter~ So I am not the only one that does that with a flashlight!

Rosita, you might know that already but its better to warn now in case you haven't heard about that: UK has a very restrictive laws regarding possession and carrying knives, even elsewhere mundane Swiss Army knives and other multi-tools with knife blades among their accessories...

This is not a complete list of restrictions.

I'm just going to leave mine at home. I don't really feel like testing my knowledge of the UK legal system.

Hmm..."Freehold and the Baron." Kinda sounds like the name of a comedic anime, doesn't it?

Taekwondo belt test tonight! Slightly nervous!

EDIT: here's hoping my Eldest can break a board! He's five and strong, but habitually holds back to be gnetle on his baby brother... it's caused him some trouble in getting his breaking technique tape with the practice board. Here's hoping he can do it with the real thing!

Success all-round!

Two new yellow belts (rather a white with yellow stripe and a yellow) have passed their tests today! Woo~!

(For the record, it did take my Eldest quite a few tries, though. He had to really ramp up to learn that he had to actually hit it hard. It's... wonderfully difficult for him to do. He doesn't want to break things or hurt people, you see... LOVE MY KIIIIIIIIID.)

((I may be biased in how cute I think he is, and how sweet it is that it's hard for him to break stuff on purpose. :D))

Also, calling it now: Jyn is Rae's mother. Kinda sad that their squad of Easily Disposable Buddies isn't entirely made of Bothans, though.

And that the mission is pretty much inherently doomed :/

I think you are referring to Return of The Jedi for that inference.

Which is the fate of all those who oppose His Imperial Majesty's Empire.

It just might be. :-)

I've finally started to gain control of the stress from the last few days.

Tiny T-Rex's illness has been reduced to an sore throat and general grumpy boredom, which is easily alleviated.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sickness is alleviating here, too.

11.5 hours of sleep (thank you Seroquel prescription) seemed to help a lot, even if I kept waking up coughing up mucus.

Also it seems my game idea is relatively popular. Apparently Forgotten Realms, Planescape, and Chrono Trigger are, pardon the pun, trigger words. More popular than the last PbP I posted, at any rate. Now I have a tough decision to make...

I want to guarantee at least 1, possibily two spots for a player I don't know, but I have three people from my old PbP group and a couple FaWtLers applying, so...I may end up with a big party or a couple disappointed people I know. Previous gaming group experience with me isn't an auto in, but it sure helps, as does regular forum chats, like Limey and Tac. But I want to give all the entries fair chance...some are bound to be awesome concepts. Decisions, decisions...

#FirstWorldForumProblems

Eh, consider mine, "last entry" - applicable only if other entries aren't as interesting or great, as you know how I can be on PbPs; while I'll try to avoid such nonsense, I'm applying because it sounds cool and interesting, but I can be satisfied without: if it helps, you can give others a chance. :)

Tiny T-Rex had a setback tonight, after appearing to be on the mend, mostly due to his cough, so the General is sleeping in the kids room tonight, which means it's just me, as the dog is also keeping an eye on the kids.

Pea Bear has also complained of not feeling well today, but tomorrow is Friday, and she's a bit fond of extended weekends, so...

You know how Viagra always urges you to go see a doctor if your erection lasts four or more hours? Do you have any idea what your doctor does to you when that happens?

Spoiler:
They take a surgical needle and jam it into your penis to let the blood out.

:O I'm having mine cut apart and stiched into ladybits, and that still makes me cringe like crazy.

The eponymous Rogue One title refers to the rebels' ship then?

To think Return of the Jedi could have been called "Shuttle Tydirium."

So after reading about our fellow FaWtLer's experiences with Matthew, here's our pathetic weather warning:

Quote:

BAY AREA, CA — Get ready for a soggy commute on Friday. The first major winter storm of the season is moving into the Bay Area and the East Bay is expected to get clobbered.

Plan on rain, wind and coastal flooding. Rain totals here should reach between a quarter- and a half-inch.

Yes, we are going to get "clobbered"... by somewhat under half an inch of rain.

Hmm...

Taking Tiny T-Rex into the doctor office today.

Twould appear the fatigue of spending four days straight alone with a sick kid whilst it's cold and rainy outside has quickened my season transitional funk.

I absolutely need a break this weekend, non negotiable. :-)

Edit: wait, is Calgon still a thing?

Good luck! Kids' illnesses SUCK! Fortunately, the doctors usually say one of two things:

(1) "It's a virus. He'll get over it."
(2) "It's xxx. Here are some antibiotics. Those'll clear it right up."

Crossing my fingers for you! (Making it hard to type...)

from what little I have heard, the needle doesn't hurt. The pressure relief is supposedly blissful after an erection lasting that long.
