Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Wednesday! I hope you all have an awesometastic day.

Scarab Sages

But not as awesometastic as I'm gonna have....

...WOOHOO, I'M NEKKID!!!

Scarab Sages

And how cool is it that my phone will auto-complete the word "awesometastic"?

Scarab Sages

Got my travel arrangements made for my trip offshore. Sadly, I had to fly out of Houston at 0710 on Sunday morning. Ugh! But that was the best flight to help us get to the heliport in Houma in time for check in.

And, of course, the last day they've scheduled us for the final helicopter out. Which means we don't get back to Houma until around 1600. Which means the 1730 flight back to Houston is a no go. Which means I'll have to spend the night in a hotel in New Orleans.

Scarab Sages

Trust me, that sucks ass.

Scarab Sages

And I think it'll be a miracle if I arrive home to an intact house and (somewhat) sane wife.

Scarab Sages

I've got my fire resistant clothing, though! And my steel toes! So it's all good!

Scarab Sages

Now I just have to figure out why I'm going, and it'll be all good.

Scarab Sages

And, no, I'm not joking.

Sorry, Freehold, you're not invited.

I did see that in my FLGS on sale (I believe), let us know if it's any good. :D
It's actually really fun, we played it at GenCon and now have a copy.

Thanks, and to gran rey de los mono. I might point it out to my board-game buying friends. :P

Mid-week!

One of the main reasons we might go out to a platform for a project like this is to carry around piping iso (isometric drawings) and verify that all the existing systems and spaces we're hooking into or utilizing are as we think they are. But only a few of our isos are even ready.

I could bring the process and instrumentation diagrams (and likely will), but those aren't really to scale. I can use them and some 3D models to verify existing hook-ups, but that's about it.

But will you get to experience the pleasures of the winter, away from the land of bugs?

Scarab Sages

Luckily, we've got a big meeting with the clients today, so I can get some guidance on what they expect.

Scarab Sages

There's also an instrumentation guy coming with me. I met him for the first time yesterday. Seemed like kind of a douche. We'll see.

Scarab Sages

One of the fun parts will be making sure any bags I have weigh less than 50 lbs.

That's a weight limit for the helicopter.

Speaking of helicopter....this will be my first time riding in one. Bit exciting. From what I hear, it's a big Sikorsky. Those things kick ass.

Scarab Sages

Time, time, time...see what's become of me.

Scarab Sages

Hard to believe it's been over a year since my last trip to Japan. I miss that place.

Scarab Sages

I usually skip the lunch and learns at work because they get crappy food. Yesterday, wouldn't you know, they got BBQ'd chicken. F*##ing bastards.

I was moderately unhappy with awakening at 4 a.m. yesterday, but at least I got five hours of sleep. This morning? 2:30 and 3-1/2 hours. Not sure what's up with that. I made myself lie there for an hour to try to sleep again. No go.

Maybe it's time for second sleep now.

Puppy! Out of two, we had one neutered this Monday.

Scarab Sages

Filling out my time sheets... Woohoo!!!!

Naps are good too.

Scarab Sages

Tried to watch some TV last night, but my daughter had other plans. Ended up visitng three different places to try and find gas relief medicine. Poor baby girl.

Scarab Sages

But I was changing her diaper and I swear she was trying to have a conversation with me. It was cool.

Indeed! I don't understand why my boy dislikes them. I keep telling him he's gonna regret not taking them more often.

Scarab Sages

All right folks! I'm done for now. Time to go turn in my time sheet and serepitously probe whether they have any if those hand zip up folder things that hold writing pads left over from the lunch and learn yesterday!

Have a good one everybody!

The French newspaper L'Equipe decides to show you don't have to be from Gothenburg to do the punning thing.

Off to work, to stress over phones that are too small to be handled with my clumsy finger, even less so when wearing gloves...

I am starting to miss good old brick-sized mobiles.

F Scott Fitzgerald didn't look half bad.

Nap fail. Urg. I need a day of hard labor to sleep well, I guess.

OTOH, the sunrise is gorgeous.

Pictures!

/me blinked and so missed both sunrise and sunset here...

I just realized that there is a separate term for all the different werecreatures; therianthrope.

So why do the books still call a weretiger a lycanthrope when technically it's a form of ailuranthropy?

Why Not to Have Dogs

So, I was having a nice morning when I got up from the computer to go to the kitchen and heard an odd, moist noise. In the hallway, the girl dog was

Stick with budgies.

I don't prefer cats and this is why.

What I really want is to run it for them and show them how it's done.
I've noticed that a few bad reviews for PFS scenarios derive from someone who didn't run the scenario correctly. :(
I know, right?

I find that if there is a right way and a wrong way to run the scenario, there's something up with the author. Not necessarily wrong, per se, but their thinking and priorities will probably differ from mine. Then again, I don't run pregens or the like that often.

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

And to top it off, today I found out that thanks to a paperwork delay (which in turn has delayed the start of my last round of classes), I may not get certified in time to teach in August.

I should have stayed in bed.

damn. I'm sorry to hear, deepest condolences.

A lot of people have a problem with 'lycanthrope' as the catch-all term for werecreatures.

I wrote you your own song!

Well...OK. :)

Pardon my mopeyness.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Man, no one wants subs this week.

Probably looks bad to the boss if you get sick/go on vacation/have a doctor's appointment on the first week back from holiday.

On a serious note - that's why I started doing the paper route.

I certainly wasn't going to say anything.

I hope you feel better soon, and work doesn't stress you out too much.

I would have figured at least some teachers would be out sick this week.
