The teaching job market is awful. It's a shame because there are many bright, motivated grads out there that would make great teachers, but few jobs :(

What's extra fun is subbing for old teachers and remembering how terrible they were.

Good evening FAWTLY Folk! I hope everyone had a happy Saturday! Charlie and I spent most of the morning and early afternoon together while mommy went in to work. Then around 1500 we went over to my buddy Andrew's house for his neighborhood's annual block party. The wife met us there. Charlie had a blast. Good food. Good booze. Good friends. All in all, it was agreat evening. I finally got home about 40 mintues ago.

Good maps!

As always, I ate too much: about 7 ribs, 5 hot dogs, and numerous chips and snacks.

Huzzah! And I just sent you another one. I had worked it earlier today while Charlie was napping, and finished it up when I got home a little while ago.

nn...n.no....bacon,.....

Florida is hot, as advertised.

The place we are staying is quite nice, and it is good to see family. There is wifi I can access on my phone (no cell signal though), so I'll be sure to check in.

Texas is hotter. It's 9:00 pm in Dallas, and it's fighting to stay 100 degrees.

Sadly, no. I take responsibility for it, since I didn't have enough time get something together.

I am trying to get into a Grad program now for Education. Where are you looking for work?

Kansas primarily. Also endorsed in Iowa.

My mistake was focusing in social studies but not coaching.

Share please... I was thinking of focusing on SocStu/History... what was the drag, if you don't mind?

Social studies is incredibly oversaturated. I think most ed majors go for it. Thus coaching is recommended to differentiate yourself, but I hate sports and would be a terrible coach. Yet they don't seem open to the fact that other activities need sponsors, too...

I went into this because history was a favorite subject, not thinking about the market as much as I should have. If you really want to teach right out the door, go for math, science, ESL, or special education. Those are the areas of need from what I've heard.

Math, science, engineering, biological field, aerospace field (if some things happen the way I hope they do), trade fields (electrical, welding, plumbing, ect.), medical, construction. All of those need people and could use good teachers.

Scintillae I forgot to ask. Where in KS are you?

Hopefully not Westboro.

All the Meet up pic are in the FaWtl subsection,

the westCoast pics are from some reason not in correct order, the pics of us two in front of a door are back at home, Sabine's aunt had decorated our frontdoor with a engagement greeting and had left a present there

link

The album shows up as empty when I log on. :(

Do you have AdBlock or NoScript? Photobucket is very script-heavy.

I am a sad monkey today. My faithful companion George passed away in his sleep early this morning. It's quite a shock, he had shown no signs of illness, other than a lack of appetite which I put down to the temperature around here lately. God speed you on your next adventure, my fuzzy baby. :'(

Bummer!

I'm sorry Patrick. He looks like a friendly, happy dog, unlike most I have encountered. He's in the hunting grounds now.

I'm so sorry to hear that Patrick.

*man hug*

My condolences, Patrick. I have only had Duke for about 11 months but he is very much a part of me now. I know what a hole would be in my soul should I lose him so I can imagine what you are feeling now.

+1 hug

Golden retrievers pretty well epitomize happy friendly dogs.

I'm so sorry to hear this Patrick.

Condolences - Patrick. I know from experience that losing a long term pet can be very difficult. I wish you the best as you grieve.

When I saw your update on FB, tears were streaming down my face. My fuzzies mean the world to me. What's important is that he went peacefully and that he had a family that loved him.

Good ole' George.

Condolences Patrick.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk!

Patrick, Sorry to hear about your dog. My condolences.

Sucks, Patrick. My sympathies.

Postitive waves +2 to Patrick. It must suck right now.

This weekend was generally less wonderful than advertised. Except for Batman.

Silver Crusade

Enjoying the Florida trip even though we are stuck inside due to rain. We determined that the last time all of my siblings and I were in the same place at the same time was 6 years ago today for my brother's wedding.

It's even good seeing the nieces and nephews, even though they remind me at times why I don't particularly want kids...

Liberty's Edge

How long will you be down there? I've had to delay the southern swing of my journey for a bit, and plan on one more foray into Disneyland (seriously, what happened to Alphabet City????), so maybe you, FHDM and I can all get together and hang out for a bit.

Silver Crusade

I'll be back on Saturday. Got a date on Sunday though.

Sovereign Court

I'm sorry to hear about George, Patrick. :( It's the hardest thing about loving a pet.

Liberty's Edge

CH, it won't be until after the first.
