The adventure takes place in the city of Kaer Maga, city of strangers, sitting about the middle of Varisia on some cliffs. If others know some general history about the place, they are free to share it, but overall, I get the impression its an old city with a lot of buried history.

They say that you can buy anything there and that there are people/things from every corner of Golarion. It is also always in perpetual night due to the high walls surrounding the city. Only the lake at the center ever sees direct sunlight.

The character can more than operate within any group. His motivations may be self-centered, but the ability to obtain them is certainly better accomplished with the help of others with an even share of the wealth for all! New Background.

Filios has traveled from his origins in Kyonin in an effort to escape the elven restrictions upon his more than adventuresome desires. While he was appropriately schooled by the rangers of the area, he always possessed a wanderlust for more and farther locales. It was only recently that he heard about the city of strangers, Kaer Maga. He has made his way there overland hiring himself out as a scout for any traveling merchants that would have him. He is not far from the city now, and he looks forward to being among those with a like mind for adventure and fame.

I'm also not familiar with the adventure, so pretty much all the details here can be tweaked, as needed. (Hearing that it's in a large city, I might tweak some of her childhood, though the basics of encountering Sir Kester, saving his animals and being taken in by him are not likely to change.)

Aleixica Tas'Vere was taken in by her aunt and uncle, innkeepers in a small village, after her parents were killed by bandits. Unfortunately, they had little time or use for the girl, who they quickly set to work to make up for the money she was costing them in food and clothes.

Her life changed two years ago. A cavalier of the Order of the Shield was staying at the crowded inn when a fire broke out in the barn in the middle of the night. Sir Kester leaped into action, organizing a fire line to make sure the blaze didn't spread.

Aleixica, seeing he was more concerned about the common people, was spurred to action herself. She ran into the inn, bringing Sir Kester's horse out and then returned to get his hounds. She managed to lead them to safety, but she suffered serious burns to her left side.

When Sir Kester, both grateful and impressed with her ability to handle his animals, inquired about the care she would receive, he found Aleixica's guardians almost callous in their response. He decided he had to reward the young girl and took her to his chapterhouse, where he made sure she got the healing she needed. Afterward, he took her under his wing. She showed natural ability with his hounds and he quickly placed them in her charge as they traveled together and he taught her the skills she would need to be a member of his order.

Now, at 17, Sir Kester has decided Aleixica is ready to travel on her own, so he has set the young woman out to make her own way, giving her a hound she had trained from puppyhood as a companion.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 5) = 144d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 2) = 84d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 3) = 114d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) = 104d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 3) = 104d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) = 6

Ugh. Those rolls stink (12, 6, 9, 9, 9, 5). I'm assuming you won't mind a reroll.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 4) = 164d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 6) = 114d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 3) = 134d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 1) = 84d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 2) = 104d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 3) = 15

I suppose that's a bit better: 13, 10, 12, 7, 9, 14 (though I wouldn't mind a little help as I've got two negatives and it's a total of +1 bonus).

Aleixica would be a neutral good cavalier of the Order of the Shield, with the houndmaster archetype from Superstar Round 2.

And of course, I can't guarantee Edrukk won't be targeted by a series of rust monsters and then hit by a falling meteor if you don't select me, Sunshadow. ; )

Alynbrand was the son of a minor border Baron, slated to take the modest 'throne' of his father in due time. His father's untimely (but natural) death put him on the throne before his majority. It was decided that his uncle should act as Regent until Alynbrand reached an age where he could rule wisely. Unfortunately, his uncle had other plans and usurped the throne in a relatively bloodless coup. Having neither the wisdom WIS 10 to forsee his uncle's betrayal nor the personal magnetism CHA 8 to rally support for himself among his own people, Alynbrand escaped his familial captors and fled, managing to 'steal' only a small bag from his own treasury. Trait: Rich Parents Trust and betrayal were hard won lessons for him.

Since that day six years ago, Alynbrand has taken to wandering and honing his martial skills as a Sellsword when he isn't offering them freely to aid in some worthy cause that sparks his sense of right. Alynbrand has a very clear sense of right and wrong and follows a deeply personal code of conduct. While he is still a mild and not particularly charming man, he isn't a pushover and the 5' of steel he carries over one shoulder emphasizes the point.

Some of his basics are appended to his character sheet. Let me know if you'd like more fleshing out of the character.

Make one of the 10's a 14, and these should do you just fine.

Offering an alternate, due to divine caster glut:

Darren Roy is the 3rd of 8 children. Things have always come easy for him, so he was the poor farming family's great hope. Money was scrounged up to send him to school in Kaer Maga. Though he did well in his year in school, he fell in with a troublemaking group of classmates. When they got in trouble, his wealthier classmates' families bought them out of trouble, but Darren was expelled. Now having squandered the family's best chance of getting out of poverty, Darren has begun looking for work as an adventurer for some quick riches.

Darren's story could fit either a fighter or a rogue, whichever would be more useful for the party.

What would alignment, traits, feats, and weapons be if you made him up as a fighter?

Not sure my gnome cavalier, Bettony, is suited for an under city crawl. So I will propose a half-elf investigator rogue.

Lanier is a problem solver. He does odd jobs for odd people. Nothing illegal as he does jobs for the constabulary as well. Goes places they can't move easily, sees things that hide when they come by. Information is his trade.

What would class, alignment, traits, feats, preferred weapons be?

Need any more info from me?

If you could actually put all your information in the profile, it would help.

Solomon and Filios are definitely in. Gerald and Alynbrand I am going to have to say no to; they are cool characters, but just don't fit the party makeup that is emerging in my head. Everyone else I am still waiting on a couple more details from darren and lanier before I can decide.

For Solomon and Filios, here is the link to the formal OOC character thread.

Thanks for the consideration. If you find yourself short and are looking for a specific class/type, just let me know. Thanks!

Do you require any additional information from me? I believe I still need to buy some equipment. (Basics like a backpack, rope, etc...)

Thank you for considering my character.

I'm waiting on Lanier and Darren Roy atm; once they answer the questions I asked them, I will make my final decisions. I will end up going with 5 people just because there are too many good concepts to stay at 4.

You have some very good character concepts for this game, sunshadow! And I am also running Godsmouth Heresy in my email game. I have six characters - yeah, a bit of extra work for me! - and after about a month of intro posts and a big street brawl that gave the players their first taste of combat for their characters, we are just about ready to start the official module. Really looking forward to it.

I'm gonna lurk in your game to see how it progresses. Good luck on your first pbp!

Sorry about the brevity, a full profile will have to wait till I'm off work and have access to my HeroLab.

Lanier will be a rogue with the investigator archetype from the APG. I am leaning toward half-elf. He will be CG. Traits will likely be 'Elven Reflexes' and 'Without a Past'. The feat will likely be Dodge or perhaps Persuasive.

His weapon is a sword cane, with a silvered dog's paw as the pommel, "Hound". He uses it to taps along dark passageways or looking for hidden openings.

He will be a skill monkey, with lots of knowledges; diplomacy and intimidate to help gather info; and stealth.

Attribute breakdown:
Str 10, Dex 19 (17+2 racial), Con 16 , Int 16, Wis 14, Cha 13

Full profile will follow this evening.

Alignment would be lawful neutral, weapon would probably just be a longsword (a bow, as well, but he'll focus on the longsword). One trait would be poverty-stricken, and one feat would probably be power attack. The other trait may be bully and the other feats might be chosen from dodge, blind-fight, toughness, weapon focus or shield focus. I'm toying with the idea that his starting gold was given to him by the friends that he got into trouble with - one is a girl who fancies him, who cajoled the others into giving him some gear/money since she felt bad about him being expelled.

Petvar, Morthos, and Darren are the final lottery winners. The others were really good, but these seemed to flesh out the party the best. Thank you all for taking the time for submitting ideas, and I wish you better luck in the future. If the 3 remaining party members would get a profile together and join us in the channel linked above, we can start to get this party fully ready.

Thanks for the consideration, ss21. Good luck with your game!

Scarab Sages

Terribly sorry. My connection went down, and I didn't take my laptop to work. Hope you all have a blast!
