I just spent the night dreaming that I was investigating a disappearance in meth-ravaged appalachian backwoods where there was no cell phone service and might be murdered. And in addition to being worried about having my skull bashed in by rural speed freaks, my dream-self was also freaking out that a) I had submitted an incorrect draft of my adventure*, and b) that the adventure didn't tie sufficiently well into the upcoming magic the gathering set (wtf?). Subconscious mind, you need to prioritize better.

Yes, you were worried about the submission, but more importantly, did you find the missing person? Don't leave us hanging! :)

I wish I had an answer to this, but as happens all too often in cool dreams, I woke up before the conclusion. Stupid cats knocking over the trash can.
The dream did make me want to see the film Winter's Bone, though.

I'll have to check "Winter's Bone" out now. Just wasted an hour and forty minutes watching "Day of Wrath" with Christopher Lambert. In one fight scene, it looked like Lambert was swinging his rapier like a katana.
On a side note, I have to agree with Nick's post earlier. Having participated in this contest has definitely made me more creative in my GMing. While the PCs were restocking in the city, I had a couple of linked encounters loosely based on Ghostbusters. Some Xill and Neh Thagglu invaded through an ancient portal that lead to a portal with my version of Zuul (or is it Gozar?), an androgynous aberrant sorceror with two Hounds of Tindalos on a black ziggurat. They had fun even though it almost resulted in a TPK because the encounters involved more terrain elements and different tactics.

I was actually raised in Branson, MI. We moved when I was 10. My dad's family participated a lot in The Sheppard of the Hills, he even worked as a blacksmith at Silver Dollar City. My granny had a huge flea market in town called Coffelt Country Crossroads.

I'm excited. This is the first year I've followed the contest (didn't think I'd be in most of it!). Can't wait to see what you guys came up with tomorrow.
On a side note, you all my support but I probably won't comment on any of the entries. My vote will be based on my own wildly subjective tastes so whether your proposal is considered to be too long, too far from canon, etc, by the judges, if I think it's awesome, then I'm voting for it. So, again, good luck all!

I think the weirdest part is seeing the name for my submission show up somewhere other than where I've been editing it.
By the way, I think everyone in the contest should get a complimentary shirt with the logo and how far you made it on the front, and a list of the Thirty-two on the back. Maybe a nice little certificate.

Well, I said I wasn't going to comment, but I did...There's stuff I like about every pitch and some stuff I don't, but that's to be expected based on personal tastes. But overall, they were all very, very creative. With developmental work, I'd be willing to buy any one of them next year when it comes out. I am still very much waffling on my vote. Two grabbed me right out of the gate but that doesn't mean the other two aren't contenders. Best of luck guys. I think this one is going to be a close one.

At this point, before Mr. Evans goes off on a tea break, I would just like to take the opportunity to note that Anthea, Byrria, Cynthia, and Daria are nowhere close to 'the ultimate adventuring party from Hell'. That would be composed of Asmodeus in several aspects.
They are four ladies, of whimsically Abyssal inclination, however.
But you must remain firm in your resolve for now, top four of 2011. The real nightmare will commence once the results are out and three of you realise that you now have to write Pathfinder Society modules which will be torn to pieces, analysed, and commented upon by Pathfinder Society Players and GMs for (possibly) years to come, whilst the fourth may be (questionably) 'fortunate' enough to have to write a module which draws relatively few posts...

Luckily we provide our freelancers more than two weeks to write entire adventures, so hopefully the whole ordeal won't be too stressful. All work and no play make writers dull boys, or something or other.

I'd actually be interested in posting my adventure proposal and getting feedback on it. Out of respect to Sam and not wanting to steal any of his (extremely well-deserved) limelight, I'm going to wait until later in the week to post it - but I wanted to throw up this note now before people leave these forums behind until next winter, so that people will know to check back in a couple of days.
I know that most of the official judges are going to disappear, but if any of the other judges, or even my fellow competitors would like to comment on my proposal, I would love to get your feedback. I'm determined to get myself in print someday, so I figured while there's still some energy here on these forums, might as well tap them!

Yeah, I'd sure hate to lose those commoner levels I have...
Actually, I've always been frightened of succubi ever since I was 10 years old playing 1e D&D. I gamed with a group of guys older than me and we had just brought out of retirement our characters from a long running campaign. I was playing my half orc fighter, Beorn. We were going up against Orcus and some succubi. One grabbed me and instantly drained a level. My cavalier friend, Arathorne (yeah, LOTR supplied all the names back then) grabbed Beorn out of the succubus's grasp and tossed him against the wall, knocking Beorn out for most of the fight. That's ok, cuz at 10 years old, I was afraid of fighting Orcus!

I'd be happy to lend whatever critical powers I have to your entry, Erik, although judging from my reactions to the other three adventure proposals this round those critical powers tend to go along the line of 'Man, that's awesome! Wish I'd thought of it!'

My cavalier friend, Arathorne (yeah, LOTR supplied all the names back then)
At around the same time, I was DMing a group that included a 'He-Man', a 'Merlin', and a 'Presto'. (And when He-Man died, his player came in the next week with another character sheet with the exact same stats, with the character named He-Man II.)
I would have been HAPPY to have seen some LOTR riffing in my group. Sigh.
And I was terrified of the succubus for different reasons: I had to make sure to never have the MM open to her entry when my mother was around, because she was already borderline 'D&D is a bad influence' and that picture was... skanky, if I recall properly.

I don't think my mother looked at the MM. In fact, I just got from here the Christmas picture of me when I was 9 or 10, holding up the MM that "Santa" brought me. I think I was too busy looking at the demon and devil lords to notice the succubi. Also, some of those merlady pictures where a little risque.

(edited, final polish)
End of Round five posts now up. Thanks for playing everyone, and don't forget the opportunities now available for actions such as to thank the judges (I think that there was a thread around for that somewhere) if you consider that to be appropriate, or to slip some dragon bile in their next curry delivery if you consider that to be appropriate. (I myself am still considering what is the socially appropriate form of response to their performance and continuous strenuous efforts throughout this contest.)
I am somewhat aggravated that my scribe went jaunting off to focus on an interview over a number of the days subsequent to the commencement of the formal showing of the Round 5 entries. I trust that quality of my round five reviews did not suffer too much due to this undue distraction. The interview, produced no appreciable results for him - so he has yet to escape my clutches.
Some of you will not be entering any future Superstar Contests for one reason or another, but I more than suspect that in the years yet to come we may see further successful entries from some of those who did not make it to the top eight or higher places this time, if they choose to re-enter.
