Well, I'll be deployed and have the cash, now we'll see if I can get online and order it when the preorder comes available.

Will there be a limited amount of preoders?

The initial run is planned to be 500 copies, but if by some miracle we get more than 500 pre-orders, I'm sure we could up the initial run.

So these will be two differnt books one for pathfinder and one for the clone game right?

Yes.

Well I gotta say, this looks pretty cool! And for those worried about overlap, I did a comparison of the "TOH Index" post from page 4 of this thread to the monsters listed at d20pfsrd.com, and here is a list of everything NOT there that will be in the book:

So! There should be a lot to choose from. (Some of those creatures have appeared in PF books ... the Dire Corby for instance I know is in Misfit Monsters Redeemed. But not the Bestiary.)

It's also worth noting that a lot of the entries at d20fpsrd.com are ports of TOH creatures to begin with! So even with all those that have already been converted, this will be a lot of new content.

I'm jazzed!

Oh, and just for consistency: I totally want a Hero Lab data set for this. ;)

Alizor--I'll keep the print cost as low as humanly possible. That being said, it MUST have a (very expensive) stitch binding.

While I am not sure my opinion will be shared, just some market feedback on the faux leather covers idea.

If this was a $99.99 book without the faux leather, and a $114.99 or even $119.99 with faux? I'll take the faux leather, please and thank-you.

Just announced by Bill Webb on another thread:

"Frog God games is pleased to announce Tome of Horrors Complete

This book will be released in 2 formats; Swords and Wizardry and Pathfinder. It will consist of a huge volume encompassing all three Necromancer Games Tome of Horror volumes. Release date is Summer 2011, and retail price is TBD. This will be hardcover release. This massive Tome will contain almost 1000 monsters retstatted and reworked for both game systems, all in one place.

This is the largest, most comprehensive monster book ever released. Each monster is individually illustrated.

Let the discussion begin!"

I like that it will come in two rules versions, one suitable for old school D&D and one for 3E/PF.

Sounds good!

I am definitely picking this up!

Really glad to hear you'll be keeping the critters that have been converted to PFRPG already as well. Really, really hoping the (mostly) neutral forlarren makes it in, alignment intact, if only to have somethign to point at for precedence.

Also: Corpse orgy! Corpse orgy!

What? A fellow fan oF the forlarren :()

Ooh, finally! I *knew* that my fervent prayers to Asmodeus and threatening Greg with a 'Curse of Permanently Soiled Underwear' would get the wheels rolling! ;)

750 monsters? That's awesome! And B/W art works for me.

If only Green Ronin would do the same with their Advanced Bestiary, I'd be even happier!

I'm confused and still trying to wake up.

Have pre-orders started yet, or no?

Not yet! Some time in March is what I think Bill said earlier in this thread.

IN THE CIVIL ENGINEERING FIELD, YUP, BECAUSE CAPS LOCK IS A CONSTANT WHILE DRAFTING. (YOU HAVE TO YELL AT CONTRACTORS OR THEY MAY IGNORE YOU.)

Though normally I try to remember to turn mine off when I post here.

I can't wait for this to go on preorder. I've got $100 set aside just for this book... I'm just worried about missing out on the preorder. Just think, 500 preorders at $100 a pop is a $50,000 advance.

Tome of horrors was my favorite monster book for D&D3.x.

It would be great if they'd get with Kenzer & C and do a version for the new HackMaster as I don't play S&W or PF.

This is about ten tons of awesome. Guess I'll have to start saving up my pennies for it...though the Bestiary 2 still comes first.

Just 10,000 pennies!*

Your mileage may vary. Personally, I like having variant versions of monsters. And with the duplication between ToHC and the Bestiaries, I won't even have to do any work to have those variants.

+1

In an encounter last night, I threw both a 3.5e shoggoth from the d20 CoC book and a Pathfinder shoggoth in an encounter. It's an interesting combination, because they're very different.

Damn teleporters ruining the CoC version's Crush ability.

Of course, now that means the druid can turn into a shoggoth. Hm.

Liberty's Edge

The Pathfinder version of this book is going to be worth it! I do hope though that if a choice is made between dropping the creatures already redone by Paizo, or raising the price beyond $100, that the redundant creatures are just dropped.

Anyways please post on this thread when a preorder date is set. Hopefully we can get the .PDF included with the preorder.

The Holy Grail of PF Monsters..

Me want..but I dread what the price in the UK is going to be.

Sovereign Court

I can't waint for this book.
Will you announce here when pre-orders will start?

I will now make an effort to do so if Bill doesn't first.

Pre-orders will happen as soon as I can determine final price; I am just waiting to see what a couple extras (faux leather cover, etc) would cost. I am also still waiting on quotes for the Smythe sewn bindings as well...should be able to derive all this in a couple weeks; lets say end March for pre-orders?

Add me to the list of people who are eagerly awaiting a PFRPG-version pre-order!

For whatever difference it makes, a faux leather cover doesn't matter to me either way, so I guess I'd be happier with the presumably cheaper alternative of "not faux leather." On the other hand, if the price difference is negligible, the faux leather will definitely make the book look more intimidating. :-)

I agree. Unless the cost is negligible, I'd rather not have the leather cover... I'd actually prefer it to match the other PF books as much as possible.

Still plan on preordering on day one, though.

Er, it's not a Paizo book. I'm fine either way on the leather, but I hope it does look akin the the 3.X volumes: with the skull cover.

Price is definitely the biggest factor to me, as well. Besides just plain not liking leather or faux leather as a book cover. This is a book I want to use, not show off. Stick with cover stock and b/w illos please.

Posted today on the Frog God Games blog:

"I have completed price analysis and obtained printing quotes of Tome of Horrors Complete and am able to price the pre-order books at $89.99 and will end June 1, 2011. Non-pre-orders will be $99.99. This huge volume will encompass all three of the Necromancer Games Tome of Horrors books into one giant “Necronomican-like” Tome. It can be used as a weapon against players of all levels, either as an in-game tool or as a bludgeon (it will weigh several pounds). Page count is estimated at over 1000, ands the book will be cloth stitch (Smythe) bound for durability. No other monster book ever produced will have the “Thud factor” of this tome. Release date is estimated as August 1, 2011."

For the record I asked about the cover in the Necro forums. Bill has not given up on the faux leather cover but so far has not found one with in budget and if not then it will be a black cloth cover he said.

Great news on the price announcement. Where do we sign up? Also, what is the expected shipping cost? Finally, can we pre-order and pick up and Gen Con to avoid shipping costs?

When Bill is ready i am sure the signup will be on Frog God Games site.

Shipping will depend a lot on where you live.

No idea and until it gets closer I doubt Bill would know. Right now he says the target is August 1 but that doesn't mean the book will hit it. Many a slip between a cup and a lip.
