My curiosity has been piqued by the discussion of Savage Tide and now I'm wondering if the conversions Charlie and Kain and others have posted are just stat blocks or has the entire AP been converted into pdf's anywhere? I would love to get my hands on it (stat blocks plus AP text). Do I have to locate electronic copies of the Dungeon magazines?
And if someone wouldn't mind giving me permission to look at your conversions (*cough* Charlie *cough*) I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

TBA |

Hmm. Sure would love a complete conversion in pdf form (wink, wink).
I don't think that you'll get that anywhere... most of the guys here that have done A LOT of work on there conversions have made their statblock conversions available, but posting complete rewrites leads into IP issues (don't think that anyone wants to go there)
Best suggestion I can give is get the entire AP (book or PDF) and look at peoples conversions (Charlie has adventures 8 through 12, I've got 1 through 5 and growing, and there is lots more available) and then work out how you can use that to find an enjoyable game with your players.
We may all be running the same AP, but I know from here alone that each GMs game is wildly different!

Dosgamer |

Thanks, Charlie. PM sent.
And thanks TBA. I checked on Amazon for the missing Dungeon issues and only #150 is available and that for a ridiculous amount. Finding copies of the missing issues may be a bit of a challenge, but I'll keep digging.
So if Charlie has conversions for 8-12, would you be able to give me your conversions for 1-5? Has anyone done 6-7 yet? I've decided I likely wouldn't run the first adventure and would kick this off with adventure 2 with 3rd level PCs.
Also, do these adventures assume the current standard of 4-person party and 15-point buy? I know they were 3.5 so I wasn't sure what the assumption was. My group is 6 players and we generally use 25-point buy although I would intend to go with 20-point buy characters for this.
Thanks so much for the help.

Thanks, Orthos! I just loaded up my shopping cart with 8 of the 11 pdf's from Paizo's site. I'm still missing #141, 149, and 150. As I understand it, there were no pdf's of the last two issues (149 and 150) so I'll have to secure physical copies of them somehow. Ugh.
Edit to say I just found another thread a little further down that discusses point buy for a PF version of ST. It looks like the recommended PB is 25. Since that is what we normally play I will just keep it there.
Also, TBA, if you don't mind giving me access to your conversions, here is my email address. Thanks!

TBA |

Added you to get my conversions. Currently working on chapter 6, some of that is up already
The quality of conversions vary depend on the time I've got free to do it (which hasn't been much recently), and my conversion is set for 6 PCs with high initial starting scores (25 point buy minimum) but about average wealth per level... so some encounters look fairly brutal

Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to come by copies of Dungeon issues 141, 149, and 150? I haven't had any luck on Amazon due to very limited availability and high prices. I have checked eBay a couple of times but the prices there seem out of line, too. Am I stuck paying sky-high prices or is there an alternative I'm missing? Thanks!

How are folks representing the dustmen from Orcus' realm? I don't believe I have seen anything but the name.
Surprisingly enough, they're just goths who enjoy hanging out with the undead. So probably just regular humans with the Tomb-tainted Soul feat, and trying to become fully undead. Class is typically a necromancer or fighter, according to a few npc listings.
@TBA - Looked over "There is No Honor" and Rowyn and Gut Tugger are missing their CR & XP. In "The Bullywug Gambit" there's an extra blank page between the stats of Brissa and Diamondback. Also, how did you do the character sheet for Harliss? "The Lightless Depths" has the Shaboaths, but they too are missing XP & CR.

TBA |

@TBA - Looked over "There is No Honor" and Rowyn and Gut Tugger are missing their CR & XP.
This is intentional, I'm using specific points to level up PCs, and as my group of 6-7 PCs are fairly OP, the point of having CRs and XPs isn't really needed
In "The Bullywug Gambit" there's an extra blank page between the stats of Brissa and Diamondback.
This is intentional too, the way that I printed out the sheets was having two pages on one A4 sheet. The blank page was there to put Diamondback and her Stiltwalkers on the same sheet, so I didn't have to flip back and forth.
Also, how did you do the character sheet for Harliss?
I cheated there, because people had complained that Harliss was woefully weak as written, I wanted to rebuild her. I used PCGen... never used it since.

TBA |

Yeah, as I said, it was intentional. As nearly all the stats are pulled from either 3.5Ed or PF, then trying to work out CRs and XP become an extra burden that I really didn't want to deal with.
I tabled the idea of levelling up at points in the story to my group, and they thought that it was a better idea. They can go side questing if they like, but it only really brings them more loot and fame.
The stuff that does have XP and CR have been taken from a source which already had that in, so I've just left it in.
If you want to add in XP and CR, feel free.

Hey guys...I am going to be starting this on Monday...I'm starting with the adventure " funeral Procession", which is one of my favorites to introduce the players and get them on Livinia's radar...
I would love access to the conversions, just to see the stuff...
What I really would like is to see how anyone converted the Gods/Demon Lords to Golarion...Was thinking about a) either just leaving Demogorgon as is, or b) making him a child of Lamashtu...Gonna leave Iggwilv, because she is a favorite f mine, but Malcanthet and the others....what did y'all do?
Have all the Hero Lab stuff, so I actually like doing the conversions, but yours would make great reading and give me ideas..
Please add me to the list...I am not familiar with the site you are using, so if you could walk me through how to use it, I'd really appreciate it..

Thanks in advance,

I have completed conversions from Serpents of Scuttlecove up to The Enemies of My Enemy so far. Just did Orcus, and it gave me goosebumps. Tulani eladrins were easy, relatively speaking. I'm kind of undecided though at the moment if I should make Celeste a straight bard or a magician bard. Charon took a long time to rebuild but that was because I kept going back and forth between his stats in the adventure, stats in previous edition, and his role as a Horseman in the Golarion campaign setting.
Anyways, once I complete The Prince of Demons, I'll provide my conversions for people to browse through. I hope to get it all done before the end of this spring season.

I should mention though that my conversions are stat blocks only. As for the adventure path itself, I'm running mine in the same setting as the adventure path assumes (Greyhawk). I am not familiar enough with Golarion to be able to identify good spots for the stops of the voyage of the Sea Wyvern.
Another thing I should mention is that I tend to do conversions with background history (or "fluff") in mind. However, the PF campaign setting does have some pretty good ideas/rules/mechanics for planar adventures/planar traits/etc., so I combined those with the original 3.0 Manual of the Planes to get that Planescape setting feel that I greatly love.
My point is that my conversions are going to be almost faithful to the original STAP but with variation in some of the creatures, especially with named npcs.
I highly recommend getting as many different conversions as possible because then players will be really confused as a new group of previously fought foes suddenly are distinctly different in combat abilities and tactics. A much better alternative to "making the next batch tougher" or "add more monsters to the mix." I know I certainly will be using Charlie's and TBA's conversions in conjunction with my own efforts to keep my players on their toes, ;)

I was hoping to find and compare conversions of Savage Tide moved from Greyhawk to Golarion.
Based on what I can see from the map in the PF campaign setting book, my recommendation would be to place Sasserine as a port city near the Eye of Abendgengo. The Isle of Dread should be placed, wholecloth, 6 months by sailing ship out west of the Eye of Abendgengo in the Arcadian Ocean. Scuttlecove should a bit further west of the Shackles. Finally, the Sargasso can happen near or on the edges of the Eye of Abendgengo.
That should cover most of the important locations that happens on the Prime Material plane. Everything thing else happens in the Abyss - pretty straightforward stuff there.
Does that help?

This was the response by James Jacobs:
Coridan wrote:Was wondering if any of the big-wigs had suggestions for converting Savage Tide to the Golarion setting? Where should the Isle of Dread be, which gods should be changed, what should replace Sasserine (or where should Sasserine be located?) Things like that. I haven't looked through it completely yet, but would like a nice head start. There's another thread out there, I think, with a similar set of suggestions but my internet-fu is weak today.
I'd say that the Isle of Dread is somewhere off a distance to the southwest of Garund. The best city to stand in for Sasserine is probably Eleder in Sargava. The best standin for Scuttlecove is DEFINITELY Ilizmagorti. Once the PCs reach the Isle of Dread, I wouldn't really change much at all, and the final four adventures are pretty much perfect as is to work in Golarion's Abyss.
I am getting familiar with the world of Golarion and doing a lot of reading.

I'm currently running ST through Pathfinder rules in the Greyhawk setting.
I've got notes up on Google Drive for the first 4 adventures, currently converting as I go (on Tides of Dread at present)
Send me a message with your details and I'll share.
