Re-enchantings wands

Rules Questions

Just wondering if it's possible, after you have used a wand, to re-enchant it, with either the same or a new spell?

As the RAW says, After you use the last charge of a wand, it's nothing more than a stick.

Best possible use at that point.... kindling.

In short once a wand is used up, your only choice is to get a new one.

I don't believe it is possible to re-enchant wands, that is what they are for - casting spells that you don't have access to or utility spells that you wouldn't memorize cause there are better spells to cast...

Silver Crusade

Once the wand has expended its charges I believe it is used. It cannot be recharged. If you have the Craft Wand feat, you would basically make another wand. Your GM might allow a PC who has Craft Wand to recharge an expended one. It might reduce the cost of the crafting or the creation time.

IMO, if it is "nothing more than a stick" at that point, then I would allow my players to re-enchant it. Provided of course that they have Craft Wand of course.

Ninja McGee for the intercept.

Before you enchant it, your wand is.. just a stick.

After you expend the charges.. it goes back to being a stick.

I don't see any reason why you can't take the stick and enchant it again, witht he same spell or a different one. it'd just be for flavor though.

Re-using a stick shouldn't give you a price break or anything.

That's basically what I was looking for. Not trying to get a discount or 'recharge' it, but use the base materials again to make another wand. Thanks everyone!

Note that Spent wands DO have a use, and are slightly better than a normal stick - spent wands serve as the material component for the spell Arcane Concordance in the APG, which presumably wouldn't take a normal stick. (Also assuming anyone cares about material components that don't have a price listed)

This.

The arcane bond rules under the wizard class even support the notion that dead wands can be recharged in this fashion.

Relevant Rules Quote:
If the bonded object is a wand, it loses its wand abilities when its last charge is consumed, but it is not destroyed and it retains all of its bonded object properties and can be used to craft a new wand.

Documented proof. I say case closed. But that's just me.
