Hey James! Great, fantastic work on Horror Adventures. Really, really looking forward to running Strange Aeons. It's something I have been waiting for since I began tabletop.
A few questions for you, some of a deep Lovecraft nature:
1) At the end of Rise of the Runelords, if I implement a twist that could see Karzoug shunted fully in to Leng if the PC's destroy his Runewell but not his body, how could you see that working out in future adventures, say Shattered Star or Strange Aeons? If Karzoug was forced to exist primarily in the Dreamlands, what do you think he would go about doing - especially if the PCs figure him for dead?
2) Carrion Crown, chapter 4...
3) Speaking of Outer Gods:
How would the great evils interact with Outer horrors, and could you give some personal opinion on how you think it would play out if, say,
Something managed to send Treerazer to Leng, or a high level character managed to open a gate to the void at the center of Infinity (Azathoth's 'court') in the bottom of Nessus in Asmodeus' throne room (or inverse, the pinnacle of Heaven)?
Thanks for some insight. Just curious to your personal opinions as if you were playing it out in a game, not necessarily an official canonical response (aside from perhaps question 2).

Also, I've bugged Mark a few times about this but do you know when the Harrowed Medium will be seeing a release? All of the AMAs say soon or in the near future. But I was hoping you with your glorious insider knowledge would be able to illuminate the situation.
Also, the last hard cover release was amazing. It was inspirational enough that I subscribed to the adventure paths. I figured the two would work hand and hand.

Will more corruptions be released in the future? Specifically anything like an Abyss-bound or a kyton transformation?
I am not James Jacobs, but you might take a gander back in this thread to over here for the first one, at least.
1) Do you have a favorite kind of meat? (I count poultry and fish as kinds of meat for the purpose of this question)
2) What's the first song or other piece of music that pops into your head when you read this question?
3) Have you ever pondered on what dark matter and dark energy are within the context of Golarion, or do you prefer it to remain a mystery in case humanity manages to figure them out in the near future?

No Paizo employees have said such a thing in any of their threads. "Hopeful to do it eventually/in the future/at all" is definitely not the same as soon or in the near future.
I hate butting in on Jame's thread but I didn't want there to be any ill feelings directed towards Mark or the others.

Hi, mister J!
So ... with the new OGL manual, Horror Adventures, you have made rules which emulate Ravenloft's setting (dread fog, domains of evil and dread/cursed lords).
These elements will be used to build new Campaign Setting/Modules? I'd like a super-adventure like The Dragon's Demand with horror elements :D
I didn't do anything of the sort—I wasn't really involved in the creation of Horror Adventures.
And we have no plans on building a new campaign setting. The rules in Horror Adventures will be used now and then in our adventures though, just as with every other hardcover book we publish, as makes sense for the adventure in question.

1. After reading the Strange Aeon's Guide I am liking the idea of building a Chaotic Evil character for it. I'm picturing the character as great to his friends but terrible to everyone else. Since the players guide mentions a vague kinship with the other pc's I figure that will keep them safe from the character as he will respect their wishes. The character will feel no urge to join the party's enemies, at least not willingly.
If you were GM'ing the game would you allow this character? If not what would need to be compromised?
2. Also haven't picked his class yet. If he ends up a Divine Caster am I right to assume there is no love between the Demon Lords and the Outer Gods?
1) I wouldn't allow it. Sounds too much like you'd be trying to set up an attention-getting bid at non-conformity and party strife somewhere down the road.
2) There is no love between them, nope.

The various types of Outer dragons in B4 have very little information associated with them regarding their attitudes and such.
1) When comparing how Outer dragons act compared with other PF dragons (e.g. blacks are sociopathic, blues are OCD-like tidy and in control, brasses are whimsical and light-hearted - taking these from Dragons Revisited), what metallics/chromatics would Outer dragons likely be most similar to?
2) Is there any intent on expanding the background information on Outer dragons in any upcoming publications?
1) Haven't given it much thought, honestly. Outer dragons don't really associate with land-based dragons that much. That's part of what makes them "outer."
2) No intent today. That might change in some unknown future.

1) What did you particularly enjoy about Torment?
There are many cool things but one thing that stood out to me was Fall-From-Grace, the succubus that had "fallen" to good.2) What is your favorite all time game, so far?
3) Do you, like books, mostly enjoy horror games?
4) Have you ever, perhaps when you were younger, encountered a book/movie/game that was so scary you had trouble getting through it?
If so which?
1) I enjoyed the well-designed NPC allies the most; their story lines were very cool. Also enjoyed how you could build your character organically as you leveled up. Also loved the music and the plot and the voice acting and the art direction and all the rest.
2) Hard to say. Torment, or maybe Fallout II, or maybe The Last of Us.
3) I prefer a wide range of games—I do like horror, but for video games I prefer the TYPE of game rather than the genre. I prefer CRPGs and stealth games and exploration games.
4) No.

1 can you use create undead to stack zombie templates ex fast plague zombie, plague zombie lord, relentless gasburst zombie?
2 if so what level does you caster level have to be to combine them (I'm assuming past 11 for zombie lords because that's when you can make skeleton champions aka zombie lord minus the skin.
3 if question 1 is correct I'm going to assume other zombies created by the plague zombie/other template only have the plague zombie template.
4 what level do you need to be to combine more then 2 templates.
1) no.
2) —
3) This isn't a question.
4) Currently, you can't stack templates. You'd have to chat with your GM for house rules.

2) Carrion Crown, chapter 4...
Spoiler:If the PCs fail to stop the Dark Young at the end of the chpater, or are otherwise forced to retreat from the fight and Shub-Niggurath manifests in Lake Encarthan, what happens exactly? Is this world-ending/changing, or does It cause a bit of destruction, wipe out Illmarsh and then de-manifest?3) Speaking of Outer Gods:
How would the great evils interact with Outer horrors, and could you give some personal opinion on how you think it would play out if, say,
Something managed to send Treerazer to Leng, or a high level character managed to open a gate to the void at the center of Infinity (Azathoth's 'court') in the bottom of Nessus in Asmodeus' throne room (or inverse, the pinnacle of Heaven)? Thanks for some insight. Just curious to your personal opinions as if you were playing it out in a game, not necessarily an official canonical response (aside from perhaps question 2).
You should direct your Horror Adventures accolades to the design team and Wes and most of the rest of the company; I really didn't have anything to do with that book's creation but for the Recommended Reading/Viewing appendix at the back.
1) As written, the plot of Runelords and Karzoug don't really interact with any other AP, including Shattered Star. How Karzoug would impact those adventures is left entirley to you to determine, but if I were running it, I wouldn't have Karzoug intervene at all, but instead would keep him in my back pocket for a high-level post-AP adventure later on.
2) I have no idea. I wasn't involved in the writing or outlining or development of Carrion Crown beyond the 1st one, and haven't read any of the adventures after part 1. But as with all "PCs fail" scenarios, whether or not it carries over to your next game or not is up to you, the GM. Just because you're running the next game doesn't mean you have to say the previous game happened if it ended in ruin.
3)They would each react in their own ways, but for the most part it would end in fights with the Outer Gods winning.

Chances of the Harrowed Medium being published are very very very close to zero. It's just too big, too overly complex, and too over-designed to fit into any book, honestly. It's too long to fit any of our existing formats.

Yeah; reading the original post better... we have no plans to publish the Harrowed Medium, and any AMAs that hinted that it's Coming Soon are lying or wishful thinking.
Again... it's too overly complex and long to publish in anything shorter than a 64 page book, and even THAT would be difficult to fit, and a 64 page book that's only of use to 1/40th of the classes is not a viable product... especially when the class in question is far from the most popular class we offer. It's just too narrow a focus combined with to complex of a design job.

I just got my copy of the Horror Adventures book and was looking at the new inquisitor archetypes (specifically the living grimoire). Well my question is thus, since they trade away all the judgement class features why do they keep the 17th level "Slayer" class feature?
Shouldn't they get something else to replace this class feature?

I'm wary about chatting about the plot of Strange Aeons much here. It's just coming out. For now... chat with your GM about what will and won't work for your game. I can't say what would work for an imaginary Strange Aeons game I might run... since while I did outline the AP, I've not yet read any of the adventures so I don't have much of an insight into how things actually play out.

Our free RPG day products go through exactly the same amount of development and editing and layout as do all our books. So... no.

I know you view Mengkare as evil, but would your vision of Mengkare be the sort to believe he's evil or to associate with the other great evils of Avistan?
Then again, I suppose that Arazni and Tar-Baphon wouldn't exactly get along swimmingly even if Mengkare wasn't on a Council of Avistan's Big Bads.

Whether or not Mengkare is lawful evil or not, he's certainly self-deluded and thinks of himself as not evil and would not knowingly associated with other evil groups or NPCs. Not his style.

For risk of sounding stupid, what is an AMA?
Other questions:
You've previously said you'd like to write a novel, if you had the time.
Say you suddenly had the time, finished it, was satisfied with it, and wanted it to be part of the Pathfinder Tales, would it then be a sure thing that Paizo would publish it, seeing you're the creative director?
Which type of elf from non-Paizo fiction do you like the most? (Here I mean Tolkien's elves, Dragon Age's, or what have you)

AMA = Ask Me Anything
While I do have a plot semi-approved for a Pathfinder Tales novel, I haven't had the chance yet to do more than write an outline and the first chapter. It's not a sure thing that Paizo would publish it, but a close thing. At this point, I might be even more interested in writing a novel NOT for Pathfinder, though.
My favorite non-Paizo elf is Warcraft's night elf.

What would be the best weapon to simulate a boar sword like this one? My gut instinct says "estoc," since their basic construction is essentially the same (a hand-and-a-half sized sword with a thin blade designed exclusively for thrusting attacks), but estocs can't be braced against a charge, which is the boar sword's primary function (to stab an oncoming boar and prevent its momentum from allowing it to gore you, similar to the boar SPEAR that already exists in Pathfinder). What do you think?

Apologies if this question has already been asked.
Is the use of poisons an evil act?
That is to say the knowing poisoning of a creature, not the natural venom of animals.
I imagine things that cause sleep/unconscious as effects are exceptions to this rule for their non-damage nature. But my question is geared more towards basic poison purchase/usage.

Rift of Repose: while I imagine it's generally made of some sort of hard Abyssal rock, at this point, in your mind (as, to my knowledge there's nothing official on the subject), what would happen if someone got to the rift and successfully knocked out the walls containing the fossilized remnants?
Understanding that each campaign is different, I'm curious what your opinion is - that is, how you'd tend to handle it.
Do you think it'd:
1) reform, barring some sort of quest/specific action to alter it?
2) be gone forever? (that one memory was it)
3) something else I've not thought of?
Thanks!
