Thanks!
Yup; they can. Their caster levels are high enough that they'd be able to boost those spells if they were casting them normally, after all.

Actually, this brings up an interesting question: how do you read your dice? Do you have special Braille dice? (And if so, where do I get me some?!?)
When I'm the GM (Which is most of the time), I use a dice roller on my computer. When I'm a player, I just have one of my fellow players read them for me. I've seen braile 6-sided dice, but none of the other sizes.
On to another question. James, if you found yourself on the world of Golarion, and devoted yourself to a deity, which one would you choose because their portfolio and ideals most closely mirrored your own?

Haven't seen the second one yet, but will eventually. It's in among the 300 or so movies in my Netflix queues.
The second one is awesome :3
As for a question what would you put Bryan's (Neesson) alignment as?

Okay, a serious one this time. As background, I really do have very vivid, colorful dreams, and lately, Golarion-ish scenarios and details have been showing up in them (gee, I wonder why? I've already blamed Cosmo, but it didn't help). The thing is, I recently had one that wants out; as an author, you may be all too familiar with the sensation. I don't have the talent to paint what I saw - and boy, did I ever see it - so I'll have to use words. I have read the rules about unsolicited material, so that's clear. Here's the question: If I leave out any and all references to FRGPs and present it as a standard fantasy scenario, could I post it on a site such as DeviantArt without arousing anyone's ire?

Heh... we'll see. I avoided it because it got TERRIBLE reviews, whereas the first one got quite good reviews.
And I haven't seen the movie but once years ago. He's not good or evil, but beyond that... I guess neutral.

I have no idea. I like Keanu as a person, but in pretty much every movie he simply sucks the life out of the scene. I also am not fond of the "Only the white guy can save us non-white folks" plot.

As long as you strip out the proper nouns and all that you should be fine. The community use license is pretty permissive, in any event...

Will more racial templates be added in the future? Specifically ones dealing with fey. I know I'm hoping that fey get the same treatment as the halfbreed and planetouched races & templates.
Not sure. Not in the books I work on, really. That's more of a Patrick question, I guess. (I'm not even really sure what you're talking about with "racial template"...)

As a new race featured in the Bestiary 4 (And seen in the Advanced Race Guide), where do the Wyrwood fit into on Golarion?
Can we expect to see them in official PF lore soon?
Same two questions in regards to the Kasatha, who are also friggin' awesome.
Currently the wyrwood do not fit into Golarion. They might live in another galaxy or plane or something, but at this point they don't have a place in Golarion.
Kasatha live on a planet far beyond Golarion's solar system. Unlike the wyrwood, which we have no real plans for... there WILL be something about the kasatha by this time next year.

Putting that aside, what's your least favourite type of fiend and why is it so?
Hmmm. I guess devils. But that implies I don't like them, which couldn't be further from the truth. If I'd give demons an A+ in the awesomeness category, then devils would probably get an A–.
And since this is the internet, now everyone will think I hate devils. (heavy sigh)

Random monster question time!
1- Now that a few new types of hag have turned up, is there any chance of seeing their matching traits for changelings?
2- What, if anything, is the relationship between kytons on Zon-Kuthon? Are they his creations? Were they responsible for introducing him to the whole Hellraiser lifestyle? Do they just happen to share similar tastes and interests?
3- Are the various Bestiaries planned with a general overriding theme (or set of themes), or is it pretty much just "we print creatures in the order we happen to think of them?"
4- Whether there's intentional themes or not, let's say you're in a situation where you have to pick just one bestiary (say, you usually lean on the PRD, but have to grab a hard copy to run a face to face game without internet access), what sort of game would you say each Bestiary best covers? i.e. Bestiary 1- Conventional fantasy standards? Bestiary 4- High level play/body horror?

One more (possibly dumb) question regarding hags and changelings...
Given their habitat, the possibility of a... union of a Sea Hag with a Merfolk does not seem too far-fetched.
How would you stat up any offspring in this case?
Changeling with aquatic subtype?
Merfolk with a bit of the changeling traits?
Something else altogether?
None of the above, due to genetic incompatibility?
None of the above, due to other reasons?

Hey, just some quick questions.
1. In Mythic Realms there's an example of a being(Kortash Khain pg 55) having a mythic version of a spell held as a Contingency (spell).
when using a Contingency spell to hold a Mythic spell, would Contingency have to be cast as mythic as well ?
2. Is there a limit to how many mythic versions of spells can be held with the mythic version of contingency ?
3. When using the Permanency spell, does it have to be cast immediately after the target spell is cast or anytime before the target spell expires ?
4. Can the mythic versions of spells be subject to a non-mythic Permanency spell or would it require a mythic version of Permanency ?
5. Would a simulacrum of a hag be able to join a Hag Coven ? or a coven composed entirely of simulacrum hags ?
6. If a coven can contain simulacrums, would the coven spell-like abilities be calculated as normal or reduced by 50%?
7. If creating a simulacrum of a mythic creature would require the mythic version of the Simulacrum spell, could a non-mythic version of that creature be created with the non-mythic version of the Simulacrum spell ?
8. When using a Ring of Invisiblity or a Hat of Disguise, do they have a continuous duration or as per the spell at whatever caster level the item was made ?
9. Shattered Star 3: The Asylum Stone (pg.46) has an example of a simulacrum of a undead creature, would this be an exception or can any corporeal undead be created as a simulacrum ? Could be interesting if a Lich made simulacrums of itself...
10. Can a Plant or Construct creature be made a simulacrum ?
11. Does the create spawn ability of various undead have a HD limit ?
12. Can simulacrums create/craft undead/constructs/magic items ?
13. It's been said that a simulacrum retains no memories of the original creature and it's personality is whatever you as the caster want it to be but still retain it's alignment.
How would this influence it's actions when following an order ? Would it simply follow an order the way it knows its creator would want it to be done or would it's alignment influence it ?
14. If a simulacrum of a paladin can fall and become an ex-paladin, can a simulacrum that gains powers from a deity change who grants it's spells (such as to another deity) to gain it's powers back ?
15. Could a simulacrum of an evil outsider be redeemed to good?
16. Would a non-evil character that casts spells with the Evil descriptor (Animate Dead, Summoning an creature with Evil subtype) slowly turn evil even if they were not used for evil ?

1) There's a chance, but we don't really have a good place to publish them that makes sense anytime soon, so not soon.
2) That's still somewhat wrapped in mystery. Kytons certainly serve Zon-Kuthon... but they existed before he did. There's still a fair amount of secrets and unpublished stuff about that relationship we'll get to eventually.
3) They have loose themes. Bestiary 1 was the baseline. 2 was the planar book. 3 was the world tour of monsters from cultures other than Europe. 4 was horror and high-CR/Mythic. Of course, not every monster fits the theme, but those are the general ideas we had going in there.
4) See #3 above.

I'd stat it up as a new race, not as a changeling. or not at all. Not every thing needs to be biologically compatible with everything, and in fact, the fewer things that ARE compatible that way does help make the things that ARE more special.
So yeah... I wouldn't make a hag/merfolk at all.

Wow... quick questions, but a lot! Please try to limit question walls to 10 per post so it's easier for me to reference on my screen here at work, which, shall I say, does not have the best resolution available to modern computers.
1) Nope; contingency just requires the spell it's attached to to be mythic in this case. Contingency doesn't care what your attached spell is, as long as it's under the level limit. It can be metamagic or mythic or whatever.
2) Only the limits on spells set by contingency.
3) It needs to be cast immediately after you finish casting the first spell (the one you want to make permanent).
4) I would say that yes, they could be made permanent by a non-mythic permanency.
5) No. Because when you join a coven, you gain power. Simulacrums cannot gain power.
6) Doesn't work.
7) I suppose... if your GM cares to do the work for you.
8) They have a continuous duration. Since you can use them at will... it doesn't make sense and makes them less cool if you have to take time out now and then to "reactivate" them.
9) Simulacrums can be made of any corporeal creature. The reason you don't see us using simulacrums in adventures more often is that we need to print full stat blocks for them, and space is usually at a premium once you get to higher level adventures where NPCs can cast simulacrum.
10) Yes.
11) No.
12) Yes... provided that doing so doesn't increase their power.
13) It's got no free will, and if you repeatedly make it act against its alignment, it's alignment will change.
14) Yes.
15) Only if the simulacrum has free will (AKA its controller is dead or gone), and only if the redemption doesn't increase its power.
16) Yes. The spells don't care what they're used for, and their evil influence rubs off regardless of how much good you do with the spells.

If a creature has a mythic rank (such as having the Arcane mythic simple template) can that creature still gain mythic tiers ?
Would the ranks reduce the number of mythic tiers that could be gained ?
Nope.
Once a creature is mythic, be it by path or tier or template, that's that. It can't get more mythic power from other sources.
James Jacobs Creative Director |
James, with the release of the Mythic book and Bestiary 4 we have an XP chart up to CR 30 and gold per encounter chart. Will we ever see a chart for character wealth by level and XP to the next HD chart for above 20th level? If not, how can we figure that out?
Apparently not. The charts for monsters does go up to CR 25 on page 294 of the Bestiary... but I was unable to convince the design team that we needed to expand that table to CR 30. I'm honestly still not completely sure why the decision to not extend the table was made.
For foes above CR 25... just go with your best guess and throw on a few artifacts. Should be rare enough that it won't come up too often.
As for PC/NPC wealth, the decision to not extend THAT table was because the design team feels that tiers shouldn't affect your wealth. Only class levels do. A 10th level character has 10th level wealth, despite how many mythic tiers he has.
