Vivid dreams and sleep paralysis.

Paranoia and misinformation.
...the Bermuda Triangle?
A good PR department and some creative reporting (the entire ocean is covered with mysterious disappearances; the Bermuda Triangle doesn't really have much of an edge over anywhere else)

If you had a chance to design a new non-fantasy setting (I was going to say sci-fi, but why limit creativity?) what would it be like?
A post-apocalyptic Earth where the Lovecraftian monsters came into power. Which I'm more or less already working on (and have been for nearly a decade!).

How much would you pay for a 'Detective Comics' #37 in Fine condition?
Did you ever read 'Milk and Cheese' comix?
Word to the wise, if a hooker is offering you something for less than 10 dollars YOU DO NOT WANT IT.

Have you played any other types of games (collectable card, miniature, etc.?) other than RPGs?
If so, which ones?
Yes. I played Magic a LOT during college and for a year after. (I own a copy of every red card up through Homelands, for example.)
I also played Mythos a fair amount (the first Call of Cthulhu collectable card game.)
I play LOTS of video games, but I'm not sure that's what you were looking for.
Used to play a lot of Battletech back in high school. And I play board games now and then, along with other card games.
I don't really play many miniature games at all.

Don't know if you read comics or not, but you'd probably love the "Cancer-verse" alternate Marvel Universe currently appearing in various cosmic titles there.

Why people sometimes call you 'Doctor James' or 'Doctor Jacobs' ?
When my friend Matt Sernett found out that I and my sisters grew up amid a HUGE number of pets (between the three of us, we had dogs, cats, garter snakes, alligator lizards, anoles, rats, guinea pigs, deer mice, chickens, horses, gurnsey cows, rabbits, cockatiels, parakeets, trap-door spiders, a goat, fish, and a number of local wild animals who visited regularly including racoons, skunks, mountain lions, bats, owls, ravens, deer, wild boars, rubber boa constrictors, giant Pacific salamanders, newts, banana slugs, black widows, termites, carpenter ants, scorpions, blue jays, finches, and countless other critters AND that my dad was a commercial salmon fisherman who often brought home things like salmon, tuna, lingcod, abalone, crabs, sharks, and all manner of tales about sightings of blue whales, humpback whales, orcas, jellyfish, and lots of other marine creatures and who often took us down to the tide pools to look for things like urchins and anenomes and so on and so on)...
Well, when Matt found out how many animals I had around me when I grew up in Northern California, he thought I was Doctor Doolittle, but knew my name was James Jacobs, so instead he called me Doctor Jacobs. And that leaked out on the internet somewhere.

By sending me a robot that looks and sounds exactly like Asia Argento, Kate Beckinsale, Rachael Weisz, or Merisiel but can be programmed for any number of tasks or duties.

Nope; not right now. My main's a hunter, and they suck for one-on-one PVP these days.

It’s pretty good, I think it would be the sort of movie you’d like. I guess it would fall into the Horror genre (or maybe a historical / folkloric horror sub-genre if such a thing exists). Our gaming group watched it for inspiration for Kingmaker (the setting reminded one of the guys of Brevoy / northern Stolen Lands, and it is about a group of Finnish and Russian soldiers who are mapping out a border in disputed, largely deserted lands), but I think it would also make good mood-type inspiration for Carrion Crown.
What movies would you recommend as Kingmaker inspiration, if any?

What city or kingdom of Golarion that may not get developed by Paizo any time soon would you LOVE to see fan-developed?
Hmmm. Hard to say, since everything we come up with is potential area for us to develop. But as for an area that we'll probably not be doing MUCH with anytime soon that I'd love to see more ideas about... I'd probably have to say Alkenstar, because that place seems to have a lot of vocal fans. Of course, having just done some development work on it and the Mana Wastes for the upcoming world guide myself... I'm kinda interested in developing that area myself a bit more!

Wouldn't rank him at all. I skipped the red box, and when I joined Phil Athan's "Old School D&D Campaign" they'd already left Bargle behind and were starting on Tegel Manor. So I never really had much of an interaction with Bargle until Jason Bulmahn wanted to write "Kill Bargle" for Dungeon #150.

Was the world at our modern tech levels before the stars finally became "right" or is it slightly more futuristic, or super tech? Would you consider publishing it under Paizo or with another company? Is it d20 modern or based off an entirely different system?
One of the reasons I would back a PF/Paizo Modern would be to support two genres I love - Post Apocalyptic (Darwin's World is great, but I would love to see a Paizo ruleset and campaign world) and Horror gaming.
Is there any chance that Paizo would officially branch out in support of this down the line or do you think that will all be relegated to a third party publisher?
One more question, I know you guys love Chaosium and CoC - do you personally think that horror role-playing* is under-represented as a genre?
From the heavy horror themes in some of your APs and mods I would think so, but I am talking more about dedicated rpg systems - CoC, etc.
*By horror role-playing I mean fighting monsters, not playing one -so no WoD

The world was about 50 years or so ahead of our current tech level. Maybe 100 years. Far enough into the future that when the world ended, there were laser guns and anti-gravity suits and nanotech and cybertech, but not interstellar flight or teleportation.
I'd absolutely consider publishing it under Paizo.
It currently uses the Pathfinder rules; it was originally written for 3.0, then updated to d20 modern, then updated from THAT to 3.5, and now it's been mostly updated to Pathfinder rules.
There's certainly a chance that some day Paizo might publish a game like this, but that raises the tricky concern of "do we support such a game beyond it being a one-shot system?" and if we DO, does that mean we abandon support of Golarion?
One more question, I know you guys love Chaosium and CoC - do you personally think that horror role-playing* is under-represented as a genre?

I think that the horror genre is quite well supported. Call of Cthulhu certainly supports it well enough for my tastes, and that game (and Chaosium) have been around longer than pretty much most other RPGS that are still in print under their original creator company.
