4) I really don't want to patronize pet stores that practice sketchy animal catching stuff, which seems to me to be most pet stores. It's one thing to catch a lizard in your back yard and keep it in a terrarium (which is what I did as a kid) because that lizard isn't changing ecology. It's another to ship a lizard from some distant land to Seattle, which isn't very lizard-friendly.
For what it's worth, quite a few lizards are now almost completely captive bred, and wild caught animals just are not around. Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos for instance make pretty good pets and are no longer wild caught.
Although yeah...leaving a lizard alone with a cat for a week could be problematic.

Which deity? I chose Wael. (Moon Godlike, moon and mysteries are a pretty common thread methinks.)

1) Depends on the specific creature. Pretty likely for, say, succubi or lillends. Pretty unlikely, say, for a dretch or a lantern archon.
2) It's impossible to know a motive for these questions, but I do tend to get a bit hesitant when it comes to answering these topics in detail since they do tend to get people riled up and I'd rather not give the internet any more fuel than it needs to start flame wars is all.

Same here. Wael is the best deity. AKA: Closest to Desna.

On a sort of deity topic, what kind of role do Paladin's play in the church of Abadar? I have a high level one (18), that is a total idiot (5 INT), so I usually go with that I'm in charge of physical vault security.
Sounds like a good role. Do everything the priests of the faith say. Don't ask questions. They make your decisions for you. They'll handle your money too. Money is complicated.

Hellow !
Those visual cues are as much what allows you to identify a spell being cast as are the magic words and all the rest.
Now, when you try to identify a spell when it cast. We use the effective level or the level's slot ?
So a fireball (3rd) cast with still spell, count as 4st level for spellcraft check ?
Spellcraft DC for fireball cast with still spell is 18 or 19 ?
Thanks again :)

Good question for the rules boards and a FAQ.
(I'd say yes though.)

Thinking about getting a new game. Which would you suggest; Bloodborne or Pillars of Eternity?
Both.
Not joking. They're both awesome.
They're also both VERY different games.
Pillars of Eternity is MUCH more accessible and less punishing. Bloodborne, like the Dark Souls games, is INCREDIBLY hard and a lot of people find the difficulty to be too much. There's no "easy" mode with Bloodborne. If you've played Dark Souls or Demon's Souls, then you know what you're getting into.
I'm enjoying the hell out of both games though.

Have you ever had to boot out a player or excuse yourself from a table because a player or GM was so bad? If so - why?
Nope, but I've left a campaign because a PLAYER was bad. I'm not gonna name names, but basically, it was a new player who joined a long-running campaign who built a character who more or less ruined the fun for me by playing her character in a way that completely undid all the work my character had been doing to gain control of a region.
I also retired a character from a group when it became obvious that he was the only good aligned character in a group of characters who were amoral at best or flat-out evil in their actions, yet the GM didn't seem to care that they were all playing against their supposed alignments.

Does that apply to the Paladin and Inquisitor Detect Alignment abilities? My players usually ask me "Is he/she evil?" with every person they meet, and I'm never sure whether I'm supposed to just tell them, or if there's chanting, eyebrow-waggling and hand waving involved, to alert the NPC...

Mr. Jacobs, my players have been asking about the presence of glass windows in Korvosa. Until then, I had always assumed that pretty much everyone had glass windows... until I realized that glass did not become common until the 18th century or later. So, I was wondering, what is your take on the availability of glass windows in golarion (Korvosa more particularly)?
Thanks!

Dear James,
I recall you citing Roger Zelazny as one of your favorites - have you ever played Chronomaster, his final work in this universe?
Can we expect more official art of Groetus? I found one bit I've seen so far disappointing (not enough "spooky enigma," too much "YAAAR pirate-moon").
What are Popeye's Pathfinder stats?

I'm beginning to wonder if, maybe, you shouldn't start a progress bar or status update in your profile based around the various games you play.
So it could be something like:
World of Warcraft: Lvl 80 Night Elf Rogue; last played: 47 days ago
Dragon Age Inquisition: Elf Bard, defeated (insert boss name); last played: 7 days ago
Bloodbourne: (insert race and class), last boss (insert boss name); last played: 5 hours ago.
What's your thoughts on a gaming status update?

I was hoping I could get your thoughts on a little change to Demon's Heresy for my campaign.
Spoilers for Wrath of the Righteous
I'm making plans to include the dimensional shamblers. My Carrion Crown party sold the Book of Abtruse Geometries, so I plan to have Vang get ahold of it via other agents. I had another issue, though.
The neh-thalggu in the Ivory Sanctum won't pose much of a threat to my group, and I only have the one mini anyway. I was thinking about putting one or more mind flayers into the Ivory Sanctum instead, as the ambassadors of the Dominion of the Black.
Obviously they're product identity and all that, but that's no obstacle to a home game. Do you think the mind flayers make appropriate Dominion of the Black entities? If not, why? Any other thoughts?

Also, re: my previous question about Iomedae and intervening in the Worldwound situation herself:
What if her champions failed at the final hour, as in Book 6? Sometime when there isn't time to empower new heroes.
Also, does an out-of-control Worldwound expansion threaten the "Cage", i.e., Rovagug's imprisonment? Could such an event break open the Dead Vault, or even open a tiny crack?

Yes. And yes, a paladin or inquisitor who does that all the time will quickly annoy every NPC, in the same way a busybody rumormonger is always trying to get into folks' business.

If Rovaguge were, somehow, released from his prison to make life miserable for one (just one) mortal character in the world of golarion for one day, who would Rovagug pick?
Probably your favorite character. With the understanding that, in this case, "your" applies to whoever reads these words.

Glass is fairly common in Golraion. Whether or not it's common in any one city depends on the combination of city size and availability. Sandpoint, for example, is pretty small but it has a glassworks, so in that case, there's more glass in windows than normal. In other small towns, not so much.
Korvosa has plenty of glass, but not in the poor sections of town.

You recall incorrectly. I'm not a particular fan of Zelazny... just never read any of his stuff, really. I've never played Chronomaster.
If we DO do more Groetus art, it'll remain a skull moon. 'Cause that's what he is.
Popeye is a human alchemist/barbarian.

James, I had a quick snerk when I saw you used a T-Rex as on of the statues for the Unholy Spawn of Rovagug (and was also located closest to you). Why was that particular T-Rex an unholy spawn?
That was actually a velociraptor, and I used it because it was representing the Tarrasque AND because it was larger than the other 8 minis I was using.

I do. MInd flayers would make excellent dominion entities, and in fact if we COULD use them, I suspect we'd have made them the primary Dominion race and would have made the neh-thalggu into a one-off monster they invented as guard dogs.

If they failed, that's her church basically failing, and at that point Iomedae might not have any recourse but to wash her hands of that region, cede it to the demons, and influence her church to shift away from offense and start doing defense in other regions entirely.
Since demons don't want Rovugug or qlippoth stuff to gain power, no, the Worldwound wouldn't threaten to open the cage. Deskari is smart enough to have considered that, and had it been a possibility, he wouldn't have engineered the Worldwound.

Congratulations on Finishing your Shadows Under Sandpoint Campaign! I hope it ended with a bang, and that you accomplished all that you wished too! So. . . what's next?
It did indeed end in a bang! Three minor deities exiled/killed, one Bulmahn soul trapped, and lots of close calls ending, ultimately, in PC triumph!!!
Next in the Thursday night slot is "Horror on the Orient Express," with the same group but adding Jessica Price to the mix.

Chons, Tefnut, and Ra. Osiris would have been hit too but Bulmahn's character sacrificed himself to save Osiris. Which was nice of him.

If someone were to use extremely powerful reality warping magic to permanently and truly create a extremely massive Demiplane. the reality warping magic also created a highly advanced civilization with a population in the billions on the Demiplane (at the same time as the Demiplane was being created)(It should also be noted the that from the populations point of view they have existed for thousands years)(the population is also truly mortal and have souls).
Now the thing is this population worships Iomedae. every man, woman and child is devoted to Iomedae and from there point of view they have always worshiped Iomedae.
Now Iomedae did not know what was going on or this was going to happen.
1)How does Iomedae react to suddenly having billions worshipers out of nowhere?
2)How would Sarenrae react this situation?
3)would this benefit Iomedae in any way?
4)what if a demigod where in this situation would they be able to handle it?

That type of effect is generally beyond the power of most mortals, and is edging into divine power... but assuming that wasn't the case, how Iomedae would react would likely be to welcome those worshipers into her church. Sarenrae probably would appreciate the fact that "team good" just got a nice big shot in the arm. It's unclear how it would benefit Iomedae, since the demiplane is self-contained and we haven't set up rules for what gods do with devotional energy or even if it matters to them. And yes, part of being a demigod is being able to handle worshipers.
But frankly... this hypothetical situation is super unusual and outlandish, so really... you could use it as a trigger for ANY story you wanted to tell.

What type of game were you guys playing where you can kill deities? epic?
and why was Ra being mean?
were the PCs Evil?
The PCs were 17th level and tier 2 mythic characters who had, during the course of the 2nd half of this campaign, come to the attention of some of the gods of ancient Osirion. The PCs were facing off against a powerful ancient cleric of Rovagug, one who was attempting to come back to life, and who in life slaughtered and oppressed the worshipers of the ancient Osirion pantheon, and so all of those deities had an interest in seeing this guy, Rahotep, NOT come back. And the PCs in this campaign were their chosen swords against Rahotep.
So, each PC was more or less "adopted" by one of the ancient Osirion deities, and the PCs managed not to piss those deities off and in fact managed to stay in their good graces to the final encounter, where Rahotep rose up as a 20th level cleric tier 10 mythic lich. At the same time, two of Rovagug's tentacles extended out of the Dead Vault and into the chamber where the final battle was taking place. At the start of each round, each tentacale randomly attacked one PC. A PC at full hit points, when hit, got reduced to 1 hp/level. A PC who has ANY damage at all who gets hit instead takes enough damage to be instantly killed. So, being hit twice is more or less auto-death.
That's where the protective Osirion deities stepped in. If one of Rovagug's tentacles slapped down a PC and would have normally killed that PC, instead that tentacle smites down that deity, who steps in and took the hit. Essentially, when Rovagug struck that deity's protection against the PC, that deity got killed by Rovagug's wrath. Because Rovagug is that powerful, and the ancient Osirion deities are that atrophied in power.
So it was Rovagug who killed the three deities, not the PCs. The three deities died saving the PCs' lives.
