3.5 horror themed adventures for halloween in print?

3.5/d20/OGL

I'm asking for good horror themed adventures out there for 3rd or 3.5 preffably for my halloween game this year. I'm ok with going outside 3rd to other systems aswell but would check here. Also any dungeon mag adventures that fit are welcome!

Carnival of Tears makes for a great time, you might just want to run the first half on a night before Halloween unless you have a long gaming session

Back in college I used to run Castle Ravenloft for the usual suspects near Halloween. I mixed it up a little each time, but the haunted castle never got tired.

Any of the old 2e Ravenloft adventures are good...

As for 3e, you might try Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics #34 Cage of Delirium (LINK)...

Be warned however, it's one of the larger adventures Goodman Games put out...

There's also Paizo's "Hangman's Noose" (3.5), "Hungry Are The Dead" (3.5), and "Carrion Hill" (PFRPG)...

"Hungry Are The Dead", and "Carrion Hill" I'll have to look at aswell as the Goodmans game one.

I should have prefaced the page by stating that my two previous entries into my new tradition were actually with Carnival of Tears and then Hangmans noose with rousing success. Twisted in just the right way for my posse of players.

Then they will surely like Carrion hill. It has a nice cthulhu-feel to it.

Yep, Carrion Hill is great!

Another great one (from Dungeon 106) is Tammaraut's Fate.

Wait wait Julian.

There are some rules in the universe.

You can't root at once for LA Lakers and Chicago Bulls. You can't support ManU and Chlesea at the same time.

And you can't mention adventures by Mr Vaughan and Sir Pett in one post. It's a dichotomy, one or another. Sexy Yankee or Scruffy Saxon ? Pick your choice. Make it wise.

(Fun post, BTW Gorbacz!)
Ah but is it OK if you're friends with both? ;-)

You can be friends, but when it comes to Tammertaunt's Fate vs. Sixfold Trial it's one way or another.

On a more serious note, may this friendly rivalry of the two best adventure writers continue for years ! Both gentlemen are writing modules for Carrion Crown, so the game is on.

(Still, Vaughan holds the uncanny honor of being the only writer to contribute an adventure to every Paizo AP. Well played, Greg !)

Also check out "From shore to sea". I have just been reading it and it can be a horror adventure if played well.

You could try "The Last Breaths of Ashenport", a late 3.5 adventure for L 6 characters. It's available here as a PDF. I'd suggest beefing up the final encounters in both the church and the sea-caves (as was done when the adventure was updated to 4e here). The adventure itself is an homage to the Innsmouth of Lovecraftian fame.

Stewart ... HERE is a List I previously posted for someone loosing for Friday the 13th adventures.

Frog God Games

Ah, the thrill of intercontinental contest rings once again across the boards. :) Take that, Pett. Hyah!

All of the above are good (haven't read the Goodman one), but I'd recommend Tammeraut's Fate as well. Not because I wrote it (I get no royalties and hopefully I have written better since), but it was written specifically as that kind of Halloween night type of horror adventure. Plus it lends itself to a single night of play in ways that the others do not, the others generally being longer adventures.

So if you can get ahold of Dungeon #106 to play Tammeraut's Fate, that would be my recommendation. I promise you it will not disappoint as a Halloween night adventure. If you can't get it though, any of the others mentioned will work wonderfully as well.

Luckily, Dungeon 106 is available both in PDF and print at Paizo ! HERE

Mr. Vaughan, question for you if I may...

In the beginning of the adventure, you give "conversions" (for lack of a better term) for using this adventure in the Forgotten Realms. What would your suggestion(s) be for setting this adventure within Golarion?

Thank you in advance...

Great adventure BTW :-)
