Gencon being just a couple weeks away now I'm wondering what will be announced as next years big product. I personally would like to find out they're going to come out with a Sword & Planet RPG, including beta test but figure that's probably a 2012 release. What will probably be announced though will be the Asian rulebook and setting. What's everyone else's thoughts?

Ultimate Magic was announced for Spring, I thought. Or at least as a PaizoCon release in 2011.
Which leads me to believe that GenCon is the Tian Xia book.
I think 3 hardcovers/year is a pretty good Goldilocks pace, not too fast, not too slow.
You don't foresee James snapping and being commited to an asylum?

Well, sure, but with a split keyboard and a tongue drive mouse, he should still be able to get some work done.
No reason a straitjacket should hamper productivity!
It may slow him down some.
But then, he as been typing with two clawed fingers for a while, so he should be able to adapt.

James confirmed on the chat that the new CS is slipping. We're expecting an announcement soon(tm).

Hey all, stupid questions, but...Is there some official announcement and if there is, when and where is it? I'm going to be at Gen Con this year and I'd love to sit in on it.
Most of the info leaks happen at seminars like these:
SEM1011187 2011: The Future of Paizo & the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game 08/05/2010 02:00:00 PM
SEM1011188 Adventure Paths, Modules, Companions & More: Paizo's Pathfinder Brand 08/05/2010 04:00:00 PM
SEM1011190 Secrets of Golarion: The World of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game 08/06/2010 04:00:00 PM
SEM1011206 Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Rules Q&A 08/07/2010 04:00:00

The campaign book still counts as a 2010 product for us, so it won't have any affect on how many hardcovers come out in 2011.

That's a major sigh of relief here !

I think that was intended as a joke, or wishful thinking.

It is.
When 5th edition comes out in 2-3 years and people start realizing they're expected to shell out another $700 for all the new splatbooks produced monthly and sales drop badly, then Hasbro will announce they are discontinuing the line....and wonder what they did wrong.
All the Best,

I believe that Paizo will announce more great adventures and hardcover books, maybe some more novels, and some special projects.
Also (and screw the NDA on this!) I'm going to spill the beans right here on the Big Book of Pirate Halflings. God, I can't wait.
Is that a pop-up book? :)

That makes me really sadface. I'd really rather see the campaign setting take precedent over most anything else.
In a way it does, but making certain it is good takes precedent over that. This is going to be the definitive campaign setting for a long, long time. I'd hate to see it have errors or contradict too much existing material because it was rushed. (That's different from places where they choose to make a change from some of the older products, but the final book needs to be consistent.)
Back to wild speculation, since Psionics and Epic seem unlikely at this time, I foolishly predict the "Advanced Monsters Guide", a Savage-Species like book that finally answers all your questions on how to play a silver dragon from levels 1-20, and other odd character choices.

The Inner Sea Region will always be the core of the campaign setting. While other books detailing other continents will be produced, the majority of Paizo products will still be set in the Inner Sea Region. So perhaps I should have said cornerstone, but everything else will be building off the Inner Sea book. It has to be as good as they can make it, or people will be complaining for a long, long time. See the errata thread for the existing book.

There's something odd and suspicious about Wolfgang Baur posting so actively in the GenCon announcement thread
Nah, even designers from other companies can speculate like a fan when they feel like it. Not that it would be unusual for Paizo to hire him as a freelancer on particular projects. But any books 12 months out probably haven't reached the author assignment phase yet.

I can neither confirm nor deny this idle speculation, but I will stoke the flames.
Seriously, I do turn into a fan of all the Cool New Shiny around this time of year. Then I go to Gen Con and my wallet implodes -- it's the Cycle of Gaming Life.

Contest for a new setting, either part of Golarion or a whole new world ala Eberron.
Nah...!

JMD031 wrote:They will announce the Pathfinder version of the Forgotten Realms.Isn't that Golarion? Or is Golarion more Greyhawk?
Golarion would be more likened to Greyhawk or Oerth. The next world they come out with would be likened to the Forgotten Realms, followed years later by Eberron with various settings thrown in between that have cool concepts but do not fully take off like those three.

I would note that at the Paizocon banquet Eric Mona (I think), whilst announcing Ultimate Magic, said that non casting classes (the Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue & Cavalier) should look forward to the book they'll be announcing at Gencon.
Also, the three hardbacks refers to the RPG line. Setting books like Inner Sea or Tian Xia do not explicitly fall into that.
