OK...I know I need to re-read the mod again, but here is my question..
Is the test limited to 1 PC?
Seems to me like it should be...I mean, if the one who passes it inherits rulership of the plane, how can multiple people take the test? And, if Kaurophon cannot enter the tet area, then how would he gain the template? It's kinda confusing...I have just started the trek to the Cathedral, but I think they will make it there this week...

Just as any one of a kings offspring may one day inherit the throne. The test is not limited to one PC. Personal power and knowledge go a long way to mastering your new found home.
Where self-sacrifice is concerned, I'd even be willing to say that on another occasion, with another party, someone else could pass the Test by sacrificing themselves. But it wouldn't count if they *knew* that they wouldn't really be harmed. So they'd have to be ignorant that self-sacrifice was one way of passing the test - otherwise it wouldn't be genuine self-sacrifice.

As another poster said, there's nothing limiting it to one PC (there potentially multiple NPCs that can be encountered later that have the Smoking Eye template), however it's unlikely that more than one PC will gain the template- mainly because the self-sacrifice method can only be used once per party, and because the only other way to get it is by sacrificing an ally. (If that happens more than once in a given group, good luck.)
As far as Kaurophon is concerned, the only area he can't enter is the first test (though that part is confusing, since the backstory makes it sound like he attempted the first test and failed), which isn't actually necessary to reach the final test.
Assuming that the players have heard about the final test,
Ie that you need to sacrifice yourself
Does anyone have a good idea for an alternate final test?
