I understand your pain. When Patrick that thread started to devolve I posted that I was a gay married man, and that I didn't appreciate being called a threat to society. Got a few scoffs insults and laughter so I just removed the post and left the thread. Frankly I find the thread more than a little insulting with certain arguments going on, I'm not going to go out of my way to read anymore.

Moff will appreciate this one:

5: parachute to saftey.

Like I edited in, I could of sworn "butt" got censored in a game I'm in (Here, in fact), so might as well make another attempt at a joke. This time the censoring system ruined the joke and not my horrible timing, so that's a plus.

LMAO.

I think Jeremy is talking about the CA Prop 8 one. I have made my will save on that gem, but I got blindsided by the 'depressing news' one, which sucked me in because I thought that someone was in need of consoling. Turned into an Amerikkka suxxors/America is the Shiznick thread ...

Bleh.

Does it help to tell you I have mixed feelings about the world in general? :P

Life sucks. :(

Spoiler:

I am not sure exactly how, but a BAD thing happened the weekend before my family showed up on a Tuesday...

Background: When I was ten (I turned ten in Sep '80 so this would have been summer '81), we used to play baseball in the lot across the street from my house. I wanted to be a left-handed catcher, so I preacticed "catching" with someone batting...without a face mask. One of my two front teeth got, well, knocked out by a foul tip and I had to have a root canal and have had a crown ever since. I should have gotten a permanent one when I grew up around '88 to '90 but I waited until about 2000 to do it.

Presently...
A couple days before my family came in, I must have bit down on something (popcorn..I don't know) because I thought that the crown had broken loose from what was left of the tooth and that the post was loose. I could feel the break with my tongue but from the front it didn't look out of the ordinary.

I went to the dentist last week and found out that rather than the crown separating from the tooth, the crown had fractured apart, in back. They had me come back today so that they could fix the post, make an impression, and put in a temporary until the crown could be made. It would cost me $900. OW! Plus, a short visit today for the temp and imprint and another fairly short visit four or five weeks down the road for the final.

So, I returned today for the removal of the old one, insertion of a new post, imprint, and temporary. After removing the old crown and x-raying, they discovered a problem. The post was fixed in an odd matter that kept him from pulling it out and it would actually bend, which it shouldn't do. Plus, the tooth beneath was fractured too. :( Solution: a bridge. Total cost to me: $2300. OWWWW! And, it will take a number of trips instead of today and one more. :(

Life sucks.

Thanks, but not quite the info I was looking for.

One of my neighbors in my apartment complex came knocking on my door to sell me something. He is in the symphony band at one of the local colleges and they will be traveling to see the London Orchestra and he was trying to raise money by selling books/magazines for points to get sponsored to go. Books for kids, etc., that I could buy for myself or have automatically donated to a local organization. While talking to him and writing a check he mentioned he was from Texas ("Saint Angelo") and I mentioned my family that lived in Brian which led to mentioning New Braunfels (the restaurants have their menus on the wall listed in both German and Spanish as well as English...) and eventually to Schlitterbahn, an awesome water amusement park. He stated that he needed to get out of "Saint Angelo" because of it changing and bodies turning up in rivers, etc. That was more of what I was interested in.

Too much information, my bad.

Since the guy said the bodies in the river had a lot to do with him getting out of town, I was curious if anyone had any knowledge about those apsects of that town. Possibly by having been there, since we do have posters living in Texas who post in this thread.

That's heartbreaking. Sometimes, though, it's just time, and it's something you have to do if you love your pet. I know it doesn't make it any easier though.

Yeah, it sucks ass. He would probably have a couple more good years if some punk ass b%&%@ two bit local dealer didn't think it would be fun to stomp him and crush his hips when he was a puppy. If there is any justice in the universe somebody is smoking a turd in hell.

In any case, it falls to me to end his pain. I can't control his pain, and I'm powerless to heal him. Sometime our best is an utter failure.

All I have left is to stop his hurt.

EDIT: Thanks for the thoughts CH!

I find thin stainless steel an excellent medium for taking out aggression on. It's hard enough to hurt and take the beating, yet pliable enough not to do any permanent* damage.

*When I say not permanent I don't allow for the fact that my knuckles still ache sometimes 15-20 odd years after beginning this practice. I haven't partaken of it for a long time though.

Celestial Healer wrote:

Well, Clarence and Alabama got married after his boss paid to have her sleep with him on his birthday. This led to all kinds of trouble as Clarence killed her former pimp and accidentally stole $3 million worth of cocaine from the mob. They then went on their honeymoon to LA to sell the coke to an unscrupulous movie producer with the help of Clarence's friend, but the middle man got pulled over by the cops and turned rat to not go to jail, agreeing to wear a wire during the meet to bring everbody down. In the meantime, the mob that owned the coke tried to get information on Clarence and Alabama out of Clarence's dad, but he wouldn't talk, so they killed him. The mobsters were able to track them to LA anyway, and one of them found where they were staying and beat Alabama up pretty bad. She burned him with a hairspray flame thrower, though, then stabbed him to death with a Swiss Army knife wine opener. When the buy went down, the cops bust in, but the movie producer's gunmen refused to give up their weapons. Then the mobsters showed up and it turned into a mexican standoff. Eventually everyone but Alabama and Clarence's friend gets shot, and everybody dies, but Clarence survives, but loses his eye. Clarence and Alabama live happily ever after in Cancun with their son Elvis.

Oh, and Floyd got stoned.
