Mites, I was planning on using Blues...I have a ton, and they're pretty distinctive.
The various bugs, I'll just use the various bug minis...roach, ankheg, and the like.
All the Medium animals get a general look-a-like animal from the bin (badger, hyena, wolf, shadow mastiff, etc), unless reptiles, in which case there's like 5 Medium snake fig's.
All the named NPC's will likely be getting painted minis, so no help there.
Bandits, we have bunches of commons with color-coded tabs...it makes it so much easier than trying to remember if the Sharn Cutthroat was NPC #2 or #3. Pink, Orange, Black, etc. Heavy foot get Emerald Claw Soldiers, undead get Ravenous Hobgoblin Zombies, rogues get Blood of Vol Cultists, etc.
Owlbears, Bears, and other animals all have their respective figs, so those are easy.
Tatzlwyrms will likely get a Medium dragon fig...we have Black, Gold, Brass, Silver, and I think Blue ones.
Kobolds get various kobolds....the "boss" guys will probably get painted figs, as well, unless I get lazy.
If you have horse, pig, and other farm-animal type minis, those will come in handy.
Everything else in Book 1 seems pretty straight forward.
Oh yeah, the fey/faerie dragon won't be getting minis...not because i don't have tiny's or what, but because i know my group won't be fighting them. There IS a pseudodragon mini (Tiny little red blob, if you ask me...almost totally unrecognizable on the table), if you need it. I personally just use dice for those little critters.

I used the Guard Drake from Demonweb for these guys since they're green and medium sized. Also, since they're common, I can use a bunch if/when I roll them as a random encounter later on (1d6 of them appear on the RRR random encounter table).

I used stirges for the fey.
used Med black dragon (the flying one) for tatzlwyrms, but cut off their wings and spray painted them green.
I used tiefling blademaster for the stag lord... the closest I could find for antlers.

Color won't match though...I'm gonna use the Bullywug Thug for Garuum the Boggard.
For the mites I was considering the Blue, but also the Dark Creeper.
He's not blue but he's ugly and he's using a dagger.
I was going to use the Druid of Obad-Hai for the Stag Lord since he's got the antlers (you'll just have to imagine that he's weilding a bow).
I used the Doomguard for Kressle. Female with dual swords but close enough to be rather iconic.
Another option for the mites are the Lolthbound Goblins who are purple. I used a combination of them with Blues.
Any suggestions for a Slurk and a Thylacine?
I used a monitor lizard and hunting cougar respectively.

Haven´t bought them myself yet, but the reviews are great
I stopped using painted metal miniatures because of the way they kept being mistreated (grabbed and shoved aside in 1 pile to put food on the table made me twitch my eye violently in one occasion). I don't want to spend time (which I don't have and like to spend on painting NEW ones) retouching damaged paint jobs on existing minis.
So now it's a combination of DDM, Horrorclix (and some Heroclix), Confrontation (prepainted plastic and looking AWESOME) and even Star Wars in some cases (monsters, non-sci-fi looking figures).
For the Tatzylwyrms the most recommendable is an ice wyrm from Privateer Press (http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/minions/solos/dahlia-hallyr-skara th) but it's metal and pretty expensive.
DDM has a lot of usable bandit sculpts.
The BEST centipede I have is from Horrorclix (Nightmares). Their Dire Wolves are top as well (and a lot less expensice than DDM's rare dire wolves).
For the Mites: Blue, various goblins and even Mongrelfolk (they're so funny).
