female Human Rogue 1

Looks like a majority here, so I'll go with it.

It didn't take much more for the demon to fall. One good swipe was all it took for it to fade back into mist, a symbol appearing in the fog that most you have not seen for four years...

Any deeper thinking you could do is interrupted by the head of security. "You... You killed it. You saved all our lives. Here, you all deserve a reward. Half the fee we were being charged. You all deserve it." He tosses a bag of money at your feet.

Still, one question remains: where did this thing come from?

40 gold each. Now, time for a skill challenge! Relevant skills: Diplomacy, Insight, Intimidate, Streetwise, Perception, Arcana

female Human Rogue 1

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 - Streetwise

Gabrielle starts by asking what any of the bystanders saw about where the creature may have come from.

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

Gurdang looks about for clues, and his charge.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Female Human Artificer 1

Amyrielle finds her shoes! Then she moves around to study the area for any magical energy.

Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Intimidate 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

So, does that mean I'm bullying the guard or something?

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

Khashana remains silent and merely studies the crowd, dreamily, trying to pick up on surface emotions and impressions.

Insight
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Female Kalashtar Psion 1

Whoa, I am positively Sherlockian today.

Gabrielle soon finds a guard who says he heard a faint whisper and a chill along the back of his neck shortly before the haunt appeared. He was stationed to the north.

Gurdang soon finds his charge, who corroborates the guard's story by saying he thinks he saw a patch of fog coming from the north, but thought he was imagining things and said nothing.

Amyrielle suddenly realizes that the mourning haunt had to have been summoned to this plane, and judging by the levels of arcane energy in the area it couldn't have been summoned here. With that, you all hit the streets.
No more Arcana checks for now.

Raivek grabs a shopkeep by the collar and asks him if he saw anything today. The man, fearing for his life, tells him that he saw something dart across the bridge below his shop.

Khashana realizes that the most likely place for a demonic ritual in that direction is at the base of Dalannan Tower. Everywhere else in that direction is either a marketplace or a foundry.

Five successes, next check can't be Insight.

Female Human Artificer 1

While she is not an inquistive, Amyrielle does her best to look for clues - as well as complain about doing this task in her dress.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

female Human Rogue 1

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 - Streetwise

Gabrielle tries to remember a shortcut she vaguely remembers through the market place to the Tower.

female Human Rogue 1

Note that Khashana's getting married this weekend and Gabrielle is going to the wedding - likely no posting from either of us for a couple of days.

female Human Rogue 1

Back. Khashana should re-surface tomorrow.

In that case, let's continue.

Amyrielle attempts to find some sort of clue as to which way the haunt came from, but finds nothing.

Gabrielle is more successful, as an urchin saw a man with long black hair carrying a large amount of alchemical supplies pass this way earlier this morning, guarded by four goblins.

Six successes, one failure. Normally there'd be a fight right now, but that's not really suited for pbp.

Warforged Fighter

Boxer uses what little skill he has and listens to what the crowd is saying.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Raivek huffs off and storms out the shop, investigating the bridge, and the areas around each end of it.

I assume Boxer is using Streetwise?

The people on the street seem to be talking about an odd man who lives a few blocks away. (They don't mention which direction.) His name is Arack, or something like that, and he moved here a few months ago. He was polite enough, but the sounds of construction kept coming from his townhouse at odd hours.

Raivek, a skill check?

7/12

Insight 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Perception 1d20 ⇒ 2

M Minotaur Runepriest 1

Gurdang tries to force the snippets of information to form a cohesive story.
Insight: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

female Human Rogue 1

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 - Stealth

Gabrielle stays inconspicuous and tries to pick up the bits of information people don't want to tell her.

Female Human Artificer 1

Amyrielle keeps looking for clues, trying to help figure things out.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Warforged Fighter

Boxer pauses to recall the events of the last 10 minutes trying to sort out what he saw.

Perception = 1d20 ⇒ 6

Boxer always get tunnel vison when in combat.

Damn it, you all managed to rip defeat from the jaws of victory. Fortunately, you still found the way.

After Raivek and Gurdang lead the party in a long circuit of the district, the party finally arrives at the man's townhouse. A sense of foreboding fills the air.

Trained in Arcana:
There is an immense aura of arcane energy emanating from this townhouse. If the magic from a single Fireball could be condensed into a small bead, this would be condensed into a bead hte size of Boxer's fist.

Female Human Artificer 1

Amyrielle looks down at herself. "I am so not dressed for this. My dress will be *ruined*. This is the last time I accept a party invitation in this city. Oh, and be careful. There is a lot of magical energy here.

female Human Rogue 1

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 - Perception

Gabrille looks carefully to see if there's an unobtrusive way into the house.

"Mistress should remove her clothing before continuing."

"I can hold them until we are finished."

Hmm.. I don't like foreboding...

"Heh, I like the way you think.." he says to Boxer with a grin, then turns to the townhouse "..but I don't like feeling this place gives me."

He looks to the rest of the group "Are we ready to continue?"

I apologize if I'm the one holding things up
