So I ran my first game in a while tonight. I've been really excited about the new adventure path Kingmaker. I've gotten my players really excited about it too. Hopefully we'll be able to play on a weekly basis. However, in my enthusiasm, I made the mistake of wanting to share with the community here at Paizo my impressions of the game session. After finding the right area to post it and giving what I thought was a brief synopsis of what happened during my game, I realised that it had taken me just under 2 hours to write all the things I wanted to, which in my opinion wasn't that much, I don't type too fast. At this point I really need to go to bed so I hit the submit post. Big mistake! The next thing I know I'm on Paizo's main page! Everything I had just done was wiped clean.

Thanks guys! Now after a great experience with my players, I get to end my day with a bad taste in my mouth. Two hours of what should have been sleep if not for my enthusiasm, has now turned to ashes and wind. Consider this a statement of intent to NOT place any kind of journal on this web site.

Yeah, that's known as the 'Post Monster' around here. Depending on what browser you are using (works for Chrome and maybe Firefox; I forget) hit the 'back' button and your post will be back in the text box.

For other browsers, do a select-all and copy before posting.

I think that it is on the 'to fix' list, but is hard to find as it is intermittent.

This problem can easily occur with any kind of web forum or blog software and it is usually not the fault of the site provider. I recommend using an external editor (like, for example, Notepad, if you don't have anything else) to type up the text, and then copy and paste it into the website.

Please accept my apologies for losing your post. I have what I think is an idea about how to fix this problem so that posts aren't lost unless the entire site is actually down, but it'll be awhile before we can get to it. Until then, (and even then this is still good advice when making a long post to any website), copy your post before hitting the submit button.

I have also found that if you have two tabs open to the boards, don't try and add a reply in both windows. Sometimes they get confuzzled and will post your reply in the wrong thread.

And may I add: Firefox plus Lazarus add-on. Job done.

For "long winded" posts, I ALWAYS use a word processing program (in my case, MS Word or Works)...

So, when the "post monster" inevitably eats a post, I still have every word of it, and post again (plus, you get the added bonus of spell check)... :-)

Lazarus has saved my tuckus on many, many occasions. I highly recommend it.

Your "tuckus?"

You know what, forget it. I don't even want to know...

Cosmo just made a reference to the San Fransico Kid movie with Harrison Ford and Gene Wilder.

Naw. That's just a coincidence.

Can neither confirm nor deny this allegation.

+1

Highly recommend it. It has saved my bacon several times.

You're welcome. Just be careful about which fields you let it save... it may not be the best idea for passwords for instance :-)

I don't have a problem with the boards eating my post but it will lose my bookmarks about every couple of weeks.

Sunday night it was showing all the threads I had read and the new posts to them, Monday morning I log in and all the bookmarks are gone.

If you mean the dots, that was due to a server issue we had early Monday morning, but the dots will reappear given time.

No, it wasn't the dots. It was the (x new) listed behind threads you've read.

Dots and (x new) went away due to the same problem and will both reappear over time as the data gets built back up.

Everyone does. Eventually.
