As a very new PFS player, I logged on to buy tickets on Monday night and virtually every PFS slot was sold out. I have got two games booked now on Saturday, but none on Sunday I assume that there will be most slots added in time, or am I just being an entitled git?
I'm certainly trying to encourage more GMs and I will definitely be adding some more slots. PFS is popular so you do have to be quick to register.

We had 30 tables eventually last year with several more being blocked due to space limits in busy slots. The space limits have gone away with the new venue. The number of PFS tables offered should rise significantly from the current 17.
Expo is the big convention to get new players, and consequently demand for low level scenarios is probably higher there than anywhere else. It is no surprise that the lower level scenarios are the ones selling out first.
Note that they have added free parking all weekend in an adjacent NEC car park (7pm Friday to 8pm Sunday).

Hi guys, there are 5 of us trying to find PFS games but everything is sold out at the moment.
We don't mind if we have to split up between games but we don't really want to split up between game-time slots (morning / afternoon / evening)
We are kind of disappointed that we can't get seats. There are lots of higher tiers (3+ / 5+) but I've not seen many lower tiers as thats what we need.
3 of us are level 2 and the other 2 are starting from level 1.
For the 3 level 2's its our second PFS event (the first being crispycon) and for the 2 new players it'll be their first time at any PFS events. This is also all our first expo so we really want to make it happen.
Any advice or heads up to new tables opening would be great.
Thanks :)

I'm trying to encourage some more GMs. I will be signing up for more slots - Saturday evening, Sunday and possibly even some Friday ones so I will make sure they are 1st-3rd level games.

Okay, bookings are now open and I'm now certain that I can make it. So let's get as many GMs and games of Pathfinder there as possible. Anybody interested in GMing who hasn't signed up yet? What can I do to encourage/help/pressgang more GMs and more players?
And in a moment of introduction, I'm John Dodd, the RPG Manager at Expo, and everyone's right, there is presently far less Pathfinder on the schedule than there was last year. Considering the space I set aside for this given how popular it was last year, I'm surprised at how little has been volunteered even with Dave's best efforts.
So from Expo, on behalf of Expo
What can _I_ do to get people to volunteer to GM?
For those not aware, anyone volunteering even a single game gets free entry for that day, anyone volunteering two gets free entry for the whole weekend, anyone volunteering five (Across the entire weekend) gets free accommodation at the Hilton Metropole and expenses towards your stay there.
Contact me or Dave and let us know if you've got a game you want to run, or if you've got an idea for the convention.
All the best
John

Do we now if Rob Silk will be a GM at the Expo?
He was kind enough to help me sort out everything i needed to do for my first PFS.
Sadly i don't know many Gm's only those who I sat at a able with at CrispyCon.
As a Gm are the adventures provided for you, or do you have to bring your own Scenario?
I have experience in Gm-ing for my local groups but never on such a public scale.

I'll get in touch with Rob and check.
As for scenarios for the Expo, I can provide scenarios if people are happy to run them, or you can bring your own, I don't mind either way.
As to GMing on a public scale, as someone who's been doing it for decades, it's no different than a new player at the table down your local store, people come to play games, as long as you can GM in the first place, new players are not a problem.
All the best

Rob isn't able to make it to Games Expo this year.
I'm happy to give GMs or players any help and can make sure you have scenarios, etc. Feel free to get in touch with me at paizoconuk@hotmail.comWintergreen Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean |
When will you be putting up the new scenarios?
Also I'm kinda thinking about being a Gm for a day. If i did, I'd like to run a very simple first level (tier 1-2, or 1-3) scenario. I'm am still a bit apprehensiveness about it though haha.
I intend to put up some more games either tonight or tomorrow evening.
Happy to offer any support to help you GM - just let me know. And we can talk about it at the Expo too.Paz |

...I need to talk to She Who Must Be Obeyed.
It would be a lot easier to swing if I wasn't already committed to attending Crispycon two weekends later. :-/
Dave: PFS-wise, are there any scenarios/slots/tiers in particular demand?

Thanks Paz,
I think Crispycon as a dedicated PFS convention has impacted on GMs for Games Expo.I think low level scenarios (tier 1-5) are most appropriate for the Expo.

Shame :( I'm going to run Day of the Demon, Severing Ties, The Penumbral Accords and Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment.
Wintergreen Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean |
Either they've all been booked out already or they haven't updated the site yet as i can't see any new low tier games.
16 PFS at the moment.
Will check again tomorrow morning!
Games have to be approved rather than automatically being put up so it can take a day or two for them to appear.

Anything put on over the weekend gets updated on wednesday morning because I work fourteen hours shifts Saturday to Tuesday :)
Take a look now :)
They are now up.
Yes, they are up thank you!
David, see you at The Severing Ties and The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment games. The Group I'm with have just booked 5 on both of the tables :P

I need to do one final check tomorrow/Tuesday, but if this offer is still open, it's looking good for me being able to GM five PFS slots.
I was thinking:
#2-01: Before the Dawn—Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise
#2-02: Before the Dawn—Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge
#4–07: Severing Ties
#4–11: The Disappeared
We Be Goblins!
Any opinions?

Excellent. I'd be wary of running The Disappeared at a convention - it ties into plot stuff and has a reputation for potentially being difficult for an unbalanced party which you might get at Games Expo.

I think Bloodcove in particular is a great choice. It was also on my list of possibles for expo and it has been 2 years since it had an outing there.
Generally any low level scenario should fly at expo. A good spread of different titles seems to work best (or the very latest low level scenarios).
I too was undecided about The Disappeared.
Aside: I have submitted Assault on the Kingdom of The Impossible as my 6th scenario for Sunday pm.
I am pondering Perils of the Pirate Pact as a back up or 7th scenario.

For the 8pm-midnight slots, what is the situation about finishing? Is everyone kicked out Cinderella-style, or do games frequently run over for an hour or more?
Previous years they have given us a bit of extra time (but not more than an hour). This year it is in a different venue so I don't know how they will be.

I was thinking of either 'Mists of Mwangi' or 'Rise of the Goblin Guild' instead - any thoughts?

Either would work well. Mists of Mwangi is great fun and works well for beginners (in my opinion).

After those two ringing endorsements it would be foolish of me not to offer Mists of Mwangi.
Was thinking something like:
Fri pm: #5: Mists of Mwangi
Fri eve: #4–07: Severing Ties
Sat am: #2-01: Before the Dawn—Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise
Sat pm: #2-02: Before the Dawn—Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge
Sun am: We Be Goblins!
...dependent on which slots still have existing PFS availability in them.
No idea how to submit games to UK Games Expo site; will take a look tonight...

Excellent.
You need to register hereand then use the event entry form. For system, select Pathfinder (PFS).

Just to let everyone know I will be at Games Expo this year.. unfortunately I can't make Paizocon UK..
Dave..I don't know if I'll be there on Friday Morning or Friday Afternoon so I have not booked a slot for those times..if I do make it I'll be available to GM pick up games in both time slots if neeeded. I have one slot unbooked on Sunday but thats my shopping time.

I don't know how Games Expo works with 'pick up games' as generally everything needs to be pre-booked.

An open gaming area is available.
All games on Friday are free, so it would not be competing with anything.
I am not sure whether I will be there for the Friday AM slot yet. If so an impromptu game sounds fun.

As far as I am aware thereis a room set aside for casual gaming.Nothing to say we can't run PFS there..but as I tried to say above but badly, I am not entirely certain that I will be arriving before 5pm on Friday it all depends on my wifes work schedule...I'll be more certain about a week in advance no more.

Games submitted. I subbed in #3-21: The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment on Friday night instead of Severing Ties in the end, as if it ends up being a party of first time PFS players, Severing Ties might leave them crying for their mums!

It appears to have been added to the schedule as a PFS session in error, as the Council of Thieves adventure path (which includes that adventure) is not sanctioned for PFS.
Also, I'm not sure how you would fit an AP chapter into a 4 hour slot. I'm running the first chapter of RotR at my local games club, and we're up to 8 sessions and counting...
