Summoner and evolution points on himself, IE LIMBS

Round 2: Summoner and Witch

Liberty's Edge

So using the evolution on myself, I could give my self more limbs, and go into multiweapon fighting correct? Asking because I don't see anything saying no I can't and I would like my summoner to not be totally hosed if my summoned beastie got dismissed.

This is an idea I'm running with now. Big E to ride around on with swallow whole, and me slicing up baddies.

Yep, that's perfectly legal. There's a few restrictions on the Aspect ability, but limbs are allowed.

Sorry I might be misunderstand this... A summoner can use the evo points on him self instead of Big E?

That ability to take from the Elidon for the summoner seems one sided maybe if the Summoner could give something to the Elidon.

Maybe the summoner upon reaching a level can choose to give his gained hit points to the E. in addition to the HP the E gains at that level....
Maybe the Summoner can donate spell slots to the E. to improve the Spell like ability evolution.

Just a few weird thoughts.

The ability called aspect and greater aspect allow a summoner to do this, yes.

"Aspect (Su): At 10th level, a summoner can divert
up to 2 points from his eidolon’s evolution pool to add
evolutions to himself. He cannot select any evolution
that the eidolon could not possess, and he must be able
to meet the requirements as well..."

Ahh ok I might not have read that since I am only lvl 7 and stopped reading anything that doesn't pertain to me. Thank you for the response.

Not a problem, its definately a cool option for higher level summoners, and its a great boost if you have a summoner that doesnt shy away from direct combat, though there are lots of useful non-combat evolutions

Yeah, as soon as I hit that level I will be taking Acid Resistance or Water Breathing.

Maybe Greater Aspect will be a breath weapon if you get that many points lol.

Seriously, Aspect is probably one of the coolest of the summoner abilities. I'm rather hoping for a feat that allows them to increase the number of points they can divert from the eidolon to themselves. (It'd make for an awesome encounter for sure....A drow priestess with a male summoner at her command. The summoner has used aspect to become a drow/spider hybrid, while his quadruped base form eidolon looks like a drider....)

I'd also like to see it move to an earlier level...Perhaps get it earlier and have it scale more often.

Ditto I think this is the coolest thing he has, make him and his Big E an awesome combo. Be cool to give up some other feature for more Aspects on yoruself.

The extra set of limbs is the way to go...

It does seem like a bit much though having the capability to dual-wield two-handed weapons. Also with ten levels of arcane archer and 10 levels of summoner and you can shoot 2 bows at the same time with heavily boosted arrows. Now granted it would take a lot of feats and you would have the standard penalties for Two-Weapon fighting.

Personally I like the idea of wielding one Two-hander, a shield, and still having the extra limb to cast spells and drink potions with.

Extra arms, lol. As if having some sort of dragon or tentaclebeast pet wasn't enough to freak out the townsfolk. Then again, this isn't that different from becoming a dragon disciple, you just have to go around using alter self spells.

Just think: a summoner with greater aspect could use 6 points to have a total of *8* arms. Quad bows! Eight shortswords at once! Thank goodness that by that point you don't have to worry about the summoner multiclassing very deeply into rogue unless you're doing an epic game. Sneak attack + 8 limbs = blender.

The balancer being the feat eating and the fact that neither of those two-handers are light. And the fact that the summoner is 3/4 progressive.

The second option seems very likely. That and arcane strike can make some slick bonuses to damage for the little four thumbed guy.

not sure that 2 legs can balance 8 arms much less 8 arms wielding swords, shields, ect I propose that you might have a decreased movement rate, balance problems perhaps even a dex penalty, might want to reconfigure that option especially if you ever plan on walking...

Or walking and chewing gum...

Or the penalty stack for off hand fighting could get extreme if you carry it out to apply to more than two limbs...

The Hecatonchires didn't seem to have that problem.

Which is why polymorph was a "broken" spell in 3.0/3.5....

I was talking about the general rules for PCs in the books and the idea was my off-hand attack at this penalty and my off-off hand attack, followed by the off-off-off hand attack and finally the last attack with the off-off-off-off-off-off-off hand...

Or better yet
"my rougue is picking lock on the door with eight locks"
"Which lock?"
All of them
Do you have enough tools?
Crap
OR
yes I stocked up on tools
ok make one roll to open them all.
That was easy
