But I believe you fail to recognize something that is going on. Regular posters of this thread are going into the political threads and spamming them with the intent of burying the political discussion. It is blatantly obvious. Furthermore, they are bumping other threads with the intent of burying the political threads. In fact, the call to do so has at various time explicitly been made in this thread.
No, being the originator of a thread does not give oyu the right to bury a discussion that others are having. If they are "hating" then you should report the posts. From the policy reminder that appears when making a post...
Quote:If it is hateful, then report it.
Do not make bigoted, hateful, or racially insensitive statements;Violating any of these rules may result in suspension or permanent removal from our messageboards.
The funny thing is, it is better to just have the thread die off because of lack of attention, then to have it locked. Having it just dry up and blow away removes the fuel and the fuse while having it locked just means that someone will move the vitriol to another thread.
But, what of those who are still trying to have a conversation? What gives you the right to drown out their conversation because you wish to remove the vitriol from the conversation of others?

Look, you are getting worked up over somthing, that in the grand scheme of the universe, is very trivial. If you want to have a flaming conservative/liberal bash fest I'm sure there are better places then an RPG site to do it. Considering how much you have liked to quote "the rules" take a look at this.
If we can't keep political threads civil, then paizo.com will have to take more drastic action and ban the topic altogether.
By quashing threads that become uncivil, we are actually preserving your right to discuss politics on this board.

David has a valid point. Sometimes, we have to self police ourselves or else those who make the rules will enforce something that will be less pleasant than what we already have available to us. Sometimes we just need to approach places as if we were traveling to foreign lands and respecting their customs even though we may not necessarily practice them ourselves.
Heck, I consider myself still a bit of a new blood. I just read for a long time to understand better the dynamics of the forums before I began to post. Once you get the rust off and familiarize, perhaps make a couple mistakes here and there, we tend to learn from them, let bygones be bygones, and move on and get along.
Just chalk it up as a faux paus and let's chase other trivialess pursuits. :D

I don't care if they ban the political threads. It won't bother me a bit. It is their board and they can do as they see fit.
But, if I engage in or try to start a discussion, I expect to be allowed to engage in it or to start it so long as it is allowed without others (besides the mods) deciding for me when a discussion I am or have been participating in has run its course.
As I said it is about being given respect. Your post is a post that is explaining to me that you are making decisions for me because you think you know what I want or what is best for me.
I'm sorry, but you don't. Further, I wouldn't care if you did know. My decisions are mine to make and not yours.
That is not a "smart" comment, it is merely pointing out the important fact that I think is being mssed.
The reason I appear to be getting "worked up" is that you are actually defending saying that you are making decisions for me (and others) because it is in my (and their) best interest.

So, basically you are saying that you are deliberately deciding to police me and others.
I'm not planning to, but what if I decided to police things myself. Say, I decided that if people were spamming threads I was trying to engage in that I would then begin transferring posts from those threads to this one and getting the discussion to occur here. What would you do?
Point is that I am not going to do this because I give you guys respect. I find it sad that I do not receive the same respect in return.

Me? Nope. I meant 'we' as in the community sense. You haven't seen a single post from me spamming as being described. I just snark here and there. ;)

Nothing, most likely. I'm ambivalent about most things. Anarchy rules.

Well, we can all start by a little less typing and a little more follow-through. :D
Your next frothy beverage's on me, bud. Stupid stuff were said and they should be dropped. Seriously. None of this isn't worth the text we're reading and typing. Take a deep breath, sit back, and imagine a menage-a-trois of BttH. It's what the doctor is prescribing. :)

So I just heard on the news that a kid on trial in Mount Vernon New Hampshire for murdering a woman and seriously injuring her 11 year old daughter said during the trial that his only regrets is that he did not finish the job with the girl and that he did not feel any emotion while killing the woman. What is wrong with some people?

Suspect in NH Machete Attack Regrets Girl Survived
When the men learned from online media later that day that the girl survived, Gribble said Spader and Autumn Savoy, 20, of Hollis ribbed him for not succeeding in killing Jaimie. Spader and Gribble, both of Brookline, each are charged with first-degree murder, murder conspiracy and attempted murder in the fatal home invasion.

As it seems unlikely that my nephew will be into gaming, I'm still going to do my best to corrupt the both of them.

Whoah! That's some messed up stuff. I'm curious what the pundits will come out with as the scapegoats like they did back with Columbine..

It's probably not as bad as your own sister tying you down to a chair while you're asleep and making you watch Grease 2when you wake up. That actually happened to me.

I despair of humanity some days.

Seems you guys had a busy day. Fighting and stuffs. The kid had a good day at school, we all had good naps, and I have to get ready for work.
I really hope this thread will not become like the others with debates and arguments, its kinda why we "ban" subjects such as that and take our gripes to FB or other threads.
