Some Eidolon questions

Round 2: Summoner and Witch

The Summoner has kind of “stolen the show” for me, funny that because it was the Witch I was most looking foreword to.....however I do have some questions.

Armor training (Ex): states that you can spend an additional evolution point to gain Medium and Heavy armor proficiency as bonus feats.
Is that an additional point for medium, and another point for Heavy ??? that's what I would assume, but it is a little unclear by the wording.

Weapons training: What's the point ??? as an outsider, an eidolon already can use simple and martial weapons ???

Can an eidolon benefit from magic items that permanently change it's ability scores ???
For example, if an eidolon where to read a Tomb of clear thought, would it permanently gain the assigned bonus to it's Intelligence score ???

Does an eidolon retain any magic items that it aquires each time it is summoned ???
For example if the part awards magic armor to the eidolon, and it is wearing the armor when dismissed or killed, does it still have the armor when re-summoned ???

I'm sure I will have more, but these are the ones currently occupying my thoughts.

ok so the armor training im pretty sure its 1 point for both but i am not 100%

Weapon training, obviously no they dont have access to simple or martial weapons unless you give it to them.

Magic items is up in the air we expect something from jason on that soon. Untill then its up to you.

To add to the above:

When can you change Evolution Points?

Actually it's there but it seems badly place for something so important not just to the eidolon but for the summoner's aspect abilities as well. I've already had one person in my extend game circle have trouble finding it. I know I did the first time I glanced through, took a long hard read to spot it.

Eidolons are actually not outsiders. They are only outsiders for the purposes of spell targeting. For all other purposes, they have no type. Thus, they do not have any weapon proficiencies.

You can redistribute evolution points every time you level up.

"In addition, each eidolon receives a pool of evolution points, based
on the summoner’s class level, that can be used to give
the eidolon different abilities and powers. Whenever
the summoner gains a level, he must decide how these
points are spent, and they are set until he gains another
level of summoner."

From what I take for the price of the additional evo point the eidolan gains both Medium and Heavy Proficiency.

While an outsider the eidolan doesn't gain outsider traits. It's darkvision comes from the class. And it's use of armor and weapons come from evolution points.

I would say yes.

This part hasn't been cleared up yet. I'm handling that when the eidolan is dismissed/summoned all gear comes/goes with it. As for death I would say that the gear stays behind.

HHrrmmm....well that kind of bites....the weapons prof part....

It will be interesting to see what the final word on gear is...personally I think, since they are as much your character, as the summoner who summons them, they should be intitled to some of the bounty.

I creates a balance problem. The evolution point system is self contained and can be balanced. If you let them have magic items their power can be boosted outside of the system designed to balanced them, and that becomes much harder to account for.

Edit:
For instance, an eidolon with a whole bunch of points in natural armor probably wont have an outrageous ac, but add that to +5 fullplate, +5 ring of protection, and a +5 amulet of natural armor, and you make the sword and board fighter look naked. Magic items are meant for PC's if you give the eidolon full access to magic items he cant get things that pc's cant get or he will be stronger (like a half dozen attacks, and boosts to natural armor).

maybe im missing something, so if anyone can help it would be greatly welcomed. can a summoner change the base form of there eidolon at a new level? ( i.e. if at first level my eidolon is a quadraped, could at second level, i remake it as a biped? )thanks.

No. I think it was the playtest thread, but Jason said once a base form is chosen it's final.
