OMG. I am super-scared for you, and I'm in North America! Radavel, I will pray for you that this typhoon won't cause major trouble for you and the Phillipines. Closes eyes and begins praying.
Please be safe and I will keep you in my prayers.
Being from a barrier island myself, I can understand how frightened you must be. Please stay safe and know that you're in my prayers.
Prayers from here too. Lots of them.
Hey, another filipino here. Glad to see you and your family are safe radavel.
Apparently, an entire month's worth of rain fell on us in the span of six hours. It was the worst flood in 40 years.
And for those who actually want to see the scope of the flooding, well, while I've survived the worst of the floods, I know quite a few people with two-story floodings. The floods came hard and fast, fast enough to surprise everyone.
YouTube videos galore:
A van being swallowed by the abyss.
Another university experienced a horrible flood as well.
Manila's main river swamps a slum on the far bank.
Photo collection of the storm's effects
Nearly a week after the storm, many areas still remain flooded, and the coming storm can only add to the rain.
An update on the coming storm though, it's currently at Category 4, and gaining speed.
Pare, taga saan ka?
Marikina ako.

Oh hi radavel, I'm in Quezon City. And the storm is already here. yay.
Yup, rains have subsided a little just now.
I see from your profile that it's your first time here. You interested in playing in the PBPs here?
Yeah, rain's all but stopped here. Unless the storm changes course, this was the closest it will reach manila.
As for first time, well, nothing like a calamity to get me posting. I play on and off d&d, currently very off. I've been checking pathfinder out for a while, and coaxing old friends to play. I might get into the PBPs if that doesn't work, schedules and all.
Perhaps we can set up a game one of these days. You work in Makati by any chance?
I might work there eventually, probably after I graduate. Ahaha. Still in college unfortunately, part of the reason why it's so hard to get anything d&d related done. Exams and all.
Haha. No longer studying here.
I've been following the storm and the storm seems to be heading (Or already is) in the Northern Phillipines area. Soon it will skive off and probably be a Category 2 storm before approaching Guam (and hopefully skiving off Guam.)
The rain that stopped thirty minutes ago is hopefully the last we will experience of the typhoon.
Maligayang pagdating, Gamender.
I wish your welcome to the boards was under different circumstances.
I hope you and Radavel's family and friends all pull through this and see better times.
Good luck to all over there !
Magingat nalang kayo diyan.
Nag-iingat po. Staying at home with the first floor still pretty much bare.
Good to hear pare !
Make sure Gamender joins Cheliax !
Here's hoping to the people up north, since last I hear, it will make landfall there. It's a typhoon ridden area, however, so they're probably more prepared than we are here in the city.
And to answer your question, baron arem heshvaun, none of the above? haha. UP student here. And I'm not talking about the movie.
Be right back, zombies on mah lawn.

Predicted at 9UT 2nd Oct by our climate extremes guys:
"Maximum wind gusts of 120-130mph are very likely over northeast
Luzon in the Philippines in 18-24 hours time. "
Image of the predicted track here
Sorry I didn't get this out earlier if it turns out to be useful to anyone - been a busy day...
Black dots are lead times in hours after 9UT on 2nd Oct.
Landfall is expected in less than five hours from now (2PM) somewhere in Cagayan.
Radavel wrote: Landfall is expected in less than five hours from now (2PM) somewhere in Cagayan. Be safe!
I read that the typhoon took 15 lives.
I hope you're OK, Radavel.
I read that also, and was going to post something about it here before I got distracted by Patrick Curtin's alts. =P
I hope all Paizonians who happen to be in the Philippines are fine -- and as many other people as possible, too! *Prayers said, wood knocked on*
Solnes and I have nothing to offer you but our prayers, and you have those, all of them. Hope this finds you and your family safe.
Any word? Or are services still cut?
Fortunately, most of Manila's utilty services are back on line. However, prices are skyrocketing due to a perceived deficiency in supply.
Glad to hear you're alright.

and I hope the local economy stabilizes soon.

Radavel wrote: Fortunately, most of Manila's utilty services are back on line. However, prices are skyrocketing due to a perceived deficiency in supply. Good to hear you and yours are doing okay- and I'm pulling for you (as well as many others by their posting) back in the states. ;)
Radavel wrote: Fortunately, most of Manila's utilty services are back on line. However, prices are skyrocketing due to a perceived deficiency in supply. +1 to the chorus of hurrahs that you are still intact and posting!
Overjoyed to see you made it thru intact! My prayers are still with you and those around you as you go thru the aftermath... hope that soon things begin to look up.
glad to see if things aren't normal, at least they're still there.
Radavel wrote: Fortunately, most of Manila's utilty services are back on line. However, prices are skyrocketing due to a perceived deficiency in supply. Damn, I wasn't aware of that.
I hope you and yours didn't loose too much in the last weeks.
Tell us, if we can help with anything!
Basic services are back to normal, though a big chunk of my RPG books drowned.
And another storm is headed our way.
A Season of Storms? Sounds like a good title for a book.

Yikes Good luck, then.
