Hi everyone,
I’m looking to start a PFRPG Council of Thieves PbP game with four players using the following:
- PFRPG core rulebook
- Council of Thieves Player Guide
- Cheliax Pathfinder Companion
- The PFRPG traits guide
If you wish to use material from any of the other books send me an email along with your other information (listed below) and I’ll consider it.
Please note I’m expecting the frequency of posting by each player to be a minimum of twice a week at the moment. I might adjust this upwards following discussion with the group although that is the expected frequency of posting at this stage.
If you are interested please email me at embersilvermoon@gmail.com with the following (please title the email “Council of Thieves”):
- Your message board alias
- Race / Class that you are interested in playing and any alternative combinations
- A brief background of your character(s)
I’ll attempt to reply to emails as soon as possible. Please note that I’m not necessarily doing this on a first come first serve basis. Rather, I’ll look at applications and pick the first four applications that I believe will fit the campaign well.
If you aren’t successful I’ll place you on an alt list. If you don't want me to please let me know. Players tend to drop out from PbP games once they get running and it is always useful to have a list of people that I can contact who remain interested in the game. This will be the first group of people I contact if such a position opens up.
Once the positions are filled I’ll email the character creation rules to those that are successful.
Cheers, and best of luck to all :)

I know it's only been an hour and a half since I posted, but I gotta say, I really hope I get into this game. Every time I look for a PbP game, they're already full before I even get a chance to say "Can I play?"
Also, thought I'm all into PfRPG, I haven't checked out Golarion one bit (still got plenty of adventures in FR, Greyhawk, and all the other D&D settings before I start concentrating on yet ANOTHER campaign setting) but I'm interested to check it out, see what all the fuss is about, and what better way then to jump right in and play, right?
Plus it'll give me something to do/think about when I've already finished my homework and I'm bored on my long graveyard shifts at work.

Shaundakul! Awesome. I thought I was the only fan of the Forgotten Realms Travel God! His specialty priest was one of the first things I tried out in 2e when I got the Faiths & Avatars book.
He was definitely one of my favorite, though I was always thought his alignment was off. They sure did write him to come across more good than neutral in my opinion.

Yeah. It's kinda like the whole St. Cuthbert being Lawful Neutral thing.....
I never played Greyhawk in 2e, but I know that in OD&D Gygax had listed him as a good deity, then they make him Neutral in 3e?
Though the second to last print issue of Dragon fixed that.

Ever have a character that like *eight* Traits make sense for? Yeesh. Narrowing them down was a beast. (Not that I've been accepted, but I write characters for fun, so I've got the dude done up at 10, 15, 20 and 25 point-buys. Gosh, I hope it isn't 10. That one's kinda un-spectacular...) :)
Ember e-mailed me and told me it was gonna be 20 point.
Oh, and I guess we're doing average starting gold for your class.
It may change, but that's what I've been told so far.
P.S. Yeah, I had quite a few Combat Traits that fit my character, and a Social Trait. Kinda easy to fit into all the "harsh childhood" (like Bully, and Dirty Fighting) traits when you grow up in a city like Westcrown.
DM Ember |
Hi all,
Just a quick update, I have sent out an email regarding character creation rules and other administrative stuff. A bit lengthy and apologies for that. I've also set up a discussion thread where we can discuss characters, rules and other stuff here.
For those that are still interested, note that I've increased the party size from four to six, and that whilst all spots are likely to be filled (still awaiting confirmation from another), I'm still looking in case people drop out, so please don't hesitate to continue emailing me if you're interested, even though the positions might be filled as I will contact my list first before the boards if somebody drops out.
Regards

I am noticing a disturbing trend in these connection threads..the necessity to e-mail the DM before being admitted to a game.
Some of us don't like giving a route into our computer to anyone we don't know personally...this therefore creates a two tier system where those of us who won't give out our e-mail will-nilly get relegated to not being able to play in the campaigns we want to
just my tuppence worth..puts on asbestos underwear

What about a web-based e-mail (hotmail, gmail, etc.)? You could make one just for things like this.

I don't mind it, as I use Yahoo mail, which is no more a way "in" to my computer as say a web page is.

Wellard, I can understand your concerns about possibly compromising your computer if you hand out your email address. I agree it could be uncomfortable to hand out even an alternate email, hence my change below to all those interested joining in when I require someone to step in.
If I do require a replacement to step in I'll post in this thread (or create another) calling out for those that are interested to then post a concept in this thread based on what the party requires. From there I'll select the one that I believe to be the best.
This will hopefully allow more people who were previously uncomfortable emailing to post in the thread without concern. I am always on the lookout for people who are interested in joining and don't want to limit the number of people because I require an email, which is why I decided on the change.
For now we have enough players, although once I require someone to step in I'll notify via this thread asap.
Cheers

Thanks Ember..it wasn't meant as a personal critiscism..but I lost my last two PCs to viruses that avoided my firewall by piggybacking on emails and I'm naturally wary about widening my mailing circle accordingly...as it happens I managed to find a game.
Sevgeny does this mean you are quitting second darkness?
