I wasn't venting. I was explaining my reasoning for finding PF alluring. If i was venting about 4E i would of went way beyond "TOTALLY BORING", and pointed out the numerous things that make it boring for me to play.

Instead I just left the reader with the impression that 4E wasn't for me and that I liked 3.0/5E and PF built off of this. To me this looks exciting. I honestly can't wait to buy the books. In other threads they say Nov. timeframe. That ranger and rogue look a bit fun to play, or maybe even a pally for once. Who knows. Can't wait to dive into the books.

You could have easily said you disliked 4E without all the melodrama. No one forced you to buy the 4E as no one forced me to buy PF. I like both PF and 4E. The last thing I want to see is this thread descend into "4E Sucks! and PF rules. Tell me why you like the game and save the anti-4E stuff for your own thread.

Look, I am not downing 4E it wasn't an issue till you made it one. There was no mellodrama. I get it you like 4E good great, I do not. That is what prompted me to find PF. I had no clue this site existed, nor did I know it was a viable alternative to D&D at all. All I am saying is that I was plesently suprised when I found this site.

I just don't want this thread to turn into yet another edition war. I guess I kind of overreacted I apologize.

Should this be done in some systematic way?
1. I love the cover illustration and title lettering.
2. I love the hefty binding.
3. I love the color of the endpages (burgundy? maroon?).
4. I love the watermarked illustration carrying over the cover illustration on to the title page.
5. I love the special thanks to Ryan Dancey.

...hey, this is going to be a lot of work...

I love the sheer mass of the book. It reminds me of when I was a kid and reading those old gigantic science-y books. Things like 'The Way Things Work'.

The classes seem quite excellent so far, though admittedly I'm only up to Monk at the moment. I'm also extremely impressed by the quality of the book. The pages seem tear resistant and are quite glossy, and the layout and art are astoundingly superb.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Removed some blatant trolling.

Also, flag it and move on.

Oh! I should have started with the wonderful smell of the book when I released it from its packing. Mmmm...

Here's what I like about PF. It fixed a few of the anoyances I had with 3E. For example skills. I like how they boosted medium and heavy armor and made it so dex is useful to fighter with armor training. I like the shield focus concept as well. I like favored class. I like the negative levels concept as well. There is just too much to like. Sure there are few things I don't like but I just can't think of any off the top of my head but I'm sure I'll hit one or two as we play maybe.

Skill system keeps the customizable quality of 3E while making it easier in character gen.

Concentration no longer a skill makes mages petrified of fighters again, although we'll see how that affects: BBECasters and melee casters.

Diplomacy's been fixed and the adjustments based on the difficulty of the request are modeled on Bluff and simple to remember.

Insta-kill spells (mostly) go away!

Rangers no longer quite so dependent on DM pity for relevance of their central class power.

Art direction outstanding, as always.

Sorcerers no longer imply rampant bestiality by dragons at some point in world's history; now, they imply rampant bestiality by many different species at some point in world's history. Humanoids clearly must be the most attractive of all species! (I also like the ability to customize it.)

Decision to use choice to innovate and allow backwards compatibility largely worked.

Loss of heavy armor proficiency allows for increased board traffic for them and more easily ignored posts for me. Everyone wins!

Sovereign Court

I love that I get to keep playing games with the wonderful fantastic flavor I enjoyed in 3.5. I love the changes that allow low level play to be more than a terrifying attempt to survive to second level. I love the community this project has engendered.

The Exchange

I really like the fact that the DM guide, the player manual, and the spell list all come in one book. (I was afraid to play a cleric after seeing just how many books the cleric in our first session had to pour through). I also like the balancing of the cleric. It just felt wrong to see the cleric charge out on the front line wearing full plate mail, and healing himself after crushing the skulls of a few dozen hordes of orcs.
