I know. We really need some insect repellent in here.
That reminds me, how many pages would this thing have before we have to move for another one?
The last one cratered at 21K posts
EDIT: Ninja'd by the badger!
Oops, and I was wrong too. It went 437 pages. :)

CH You have never blasted me for my beliefs, and as far as I know, never blasted anyone. What bugs me are those that are rude and mean and cruel and then go on to celebrate, something that to me, has always been a very special and religious time for me.
I know what you mean, I've been a little defensive myself. I always make a point to respect others' beliefs, as long as they're not being used to put anybody down, but I know there are some vocal people on these boards who would rather ridicule others' beliefs. I guess I get defensive if I feel like I'm being painted with the same brush as them. I feel bad that I singled you out though, because I know that's now what you were trying to do.
For my personal beliefs, I think all religions have something to teach, and find value in both the sacred and secular aspects of Christmas (except for the consumerist free-for-all, which I could live without).

Yes well as they say it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the bunch.
mmmm I am staying away from the religous thread and here I am talking it on another.
BAD ME.
Maybe this one will actually stay civil ;)

We have been able to stay civil thus far on this thread, I shouldn't have brought such things to our happy home.
I do try to practice what I preach and I would never push my beliefs on anyone, nor ridicule them for theirs. I state mine, and trust that people will be civilized enough to not put me down. As I would never them.CH, its all good. I can see where you would get defensive. My post was very broad and rather rude.I apologize. :)

;) Hey now I removed one post completely and apologized for the second, and didn’t post the third at all. Which I doubt would have bothered you any, but would have upset everyone else, and then I would be told to take my toys and play somewhere else.

I wasn't referring to you specifically. More of a general comment :)

I always think of this as the place where we can be friendly and talk about whatever, regardless of what goes down in another thread. That's one of the things I love about this place.
It's easy to see why this is the largest, with it's father thread, on the boards. I like the way we go from one topic to the next, having a great time all the way.

This only confirms I've been doing the right thing by ignoring all of your posts.

Well, that's you and Sharoth that I've alienated. :(

Aww. Okay, I'll start reading them again.
But Sharoth is no loss.

Thanks, CH.
Even Sharoth. :)

Hey, what happens in Lynora's thread stays in Lynora's thread.

I am back from my test, hopefully I will have results tio report in about two weeks. Glad to see the New York discussion sevolve into name calling and finger point while I was gone.
A. I'll hope for the best on your scores!
B. Every time the issue comes up, we hope it won't go down in flames, but it always does. Every time. So I don't know why we're always surprised...

That's extremely funny!
But not particularly helpful in a serious discussion in which you deludedly attempt to remain civil while you really just wish the other person's head would explode.
There needs to be a Feat so a PC can 1) refuse to concede any verbal ground while expecting their opponent to give in, 2) argue in circles, 3) ask for all counterpoints to be cited or "proven", and then 4) act surprised when their opponent decides to take the PC's head off in frustration.

The problem is that there are a few all or nothing individuals on both sides who jump in and ruin it for those of us who are interested in finding answers and common ground. I would name names but that would not be nice, nor appropriate here.

BTW, my one-shot last night was good. I'm glad, because the guy who DM'd it is the one who is going to be starting up a game in the new year. It was a good test run :)
We were playing pre-gen evil characters, and it was a hoot to be taking that angle. I was playing two, a snobby male deva invoker (4e), and a female shadar-kai artificer. I had trouble coming up with a personality for the artificer, but it all came together when we were in a sketchy tavern, and somehow the topic of the tavern's prostitutes came up. (Spoilered for NSFW)

** spoiler omitted **
There's probably no need. That group appears every time one of these threads comes up. Even as a casual reader of the threads, I can tell that a thread is going to go off the rails when one of that group shows up.
