GM Bret |
Welcome!
I always do my best to run a friendly game. I want people to have fun and everyone to be able to laugh when something crazy happens.
I really want everyone to be able to post at least once a day, preferably more. If you are going to be away from the game for a short period (such as attending a convention, on a short vacation, or needing to do some business travel), I would ask that you please post that here so everyone involved knows.
Character Profiles
Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. At the least it should include current/maximum Stamina, Hit Points, Resolve Points, EAC and KAC, and saving throws.
In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. You may put it under a spoiler if you wish, but if you do so please put it under a single spoiler. I do not want it split across multiple spoilers.
If you have your character sheet on a different site, please have a link to it in your character’s headers. This allows me to pull it up from any post by the character, rather than having to go to the profile and from there to the external sheet.
If you want examples, the PbP GM Kit has the pregenerated characters done in BB Code. Use those as a general guideline.
Botting
Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.
Please include botting instructions in your profile and a general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. It is alright if you put this in a separate spoiler from the stat block, but once again please don't split it over multiple spoilers.
Please also indicate if you have a preference for who runs your character. If there are resources you don’t mind them using, please say so.
If your character has any abilities that interrupt play such as Swashbuckler Parry and Repost, Dual Cursed Oracle’s Misfortune Revelation, the Bard Spell Saving Finale or any other things that can interrupt the normal sequence to allow an action, modify a check or cause a re-roll, I ask that you have something in your Botting instructions about when you want this used.. The reason is that it can really slow down a PbP if you have to serialize actions.
Initiative in PbP
I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act. I will take the NPC actions in order and reserve the right to delay an NPC in order to make them act with a group of other NPCs.
When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else’s action to go off first, just say that.
Here is an example of how you could post before another player but have it go off after another player:
Sir Cumference waits for the elven mechanic Mister Oakleaf to get done firing his bowcaster before charging the Wily Snark.
Attack with High Tech Pointy Stick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
I (and most other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones, Waiting for posts in order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve. Even in a normal game, that slows things down too much. In a special, you would never have time to complete anything.
Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.
Rules Questions
If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.

I have added links to the Google Slide we will be using for this adventure both to the campaign and in my header.
The second slide has a space where you can place your avatars in your default marching order. Feel free to replace the tokens with your own avatars -- they are just there as place holders.
You will be starting with a briefing by Luwazi Elsebo aboard a starship in the vast.
If you want to post descriptions of your characters and introductions in Gameplay, you would have had time during the journey to get to know each other.
Also it would be helpful if everyone could put their character's information in their profile and use the headers for current status. If you want examples, you could look at those in the PbP GM Kit. The ones for Starfinder are here.
If any of you have questions, please feel free to ask them in this thread.
Oddman |
Oddman usually travels right behind whoever is taking point - close enough for his throwing attacks, but not to be a primary target in melee combat.
Shokil |
It looks like we are going to be going high. I'm tempted to swap over to Gunnz, my level 7 operative. Thoughts?
Sprocket Tension |
I put my tokens on the slides.
I would say whatever you want to play honestly. Operative skills are usually always nice.
Dytabail |
I would prefer to be closer to the front, but not *the* front. Vanguards aren't the best at spotting traps, but need to be up front in combat.
GM Bret |
Shokil 5
Kiff 5
Oddman 7
Azara 7
Sprocket 8
Dytabail 5
APL = 37 / 6 ~= 6.1666 rounds to 6.
Low tier
If Shokil switched to Gunnz it would be 39/6 = 6.5, player choice for rounding.
I will wait until tomorrow to start. If people want it high tier, it would require a vote and swapping Gunnz for Shokil (or any other level 5 character swapping to a 7th or 8th level character).
Shokil |
If we want to stay low (which with other level 5s, may be a good move) I'll stick with Shokil. If you want to risk those nice OOT credits... then I can change.
Sprocket Tension |
With my being the highest among the group I will leave the decision to the group. I am fine either way.
Dytabail if you wanted the front then you can move back Claptrap my drone. I was just putting him in the front because I am good with him being the meat shield for the group. :)
GM Bret |
Still waiting for a couple of people to put their avatars on the slide.
Since some are using a different avatar on the slide than on the boards here, I added avatars we had to slide 1 and put my best guess as to who each was. Please check that your character’s avatar has the correct name on slide 1.
At this point, I am going to assume we are playing low tier.
Sprocket Tension |
I really wish there was an upload option for the avatars to use on the forums it would be so much better.

Icon added.
Oddman |
A search feature wouldn't hurt...

So I noticed a typo in my KAC. I'm fixing it. If the rail of the walkway grants cover it would still be a miss otherwise I will mark down the 17 damage
So if your KAC is 16 as it currently shows in the header, a 24 hits regardless of cover.
The turrets were a little bit up on the walls, so the railing probably wouldn’t provide cover.

well they would proobly take the penalty for shooting at a prone target but with o cove hats of a hit.
Oddman |
Nah, you just have a bit of an australian accent when doing so...
Dytabail |
I was seriously just talking about "accents with typing." Like how some people end sentences in a quote and some don't. "I said that". "I said that."
GM Bret |
Differences in how we were taught and what of those lessons we learned.
Regardless of what is ‘proper English’, I put the punctuation inside the quotes because as a software engineer if you want it to be part of the string it goes inside the quotes. I’m much better at software than I am at grammar. :)
Shokil |
I tend to punctuate inside quotes as well, but it sometimes looks odd.
Of course I come from an IT background too.
GM Bret |
Shokil,
Could you please check your equipment list on Mythweaver’s? I don’t see the radiation buffers you mention listed there.
Everyone,
There are some weird things in this silo. I have been looking at the character profiles to try and make sure I am handling them correctly. That said, I know how easy it is for equipment lists to get out of date as you upgrade equipment.
If you think I’ve handled something incorrectly, please check your current profile to make sure it is up to date and then post any questions here. Also, if you find your equipment was out of date, please correct it and then mention it here so I can review it again.
I had gone through everyone’s equipment looking for certain things and would need to recheck if the profile is updated.
Thanks!

@Azara
Is the DR 8 noted in your header and profile from Enhanced Resistance?
If so, which physical resistance is it?
Enhanced Resistance
You have trained your body to resist a particular type of damage.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +4.
Benefit: Choose one kinetic damage type (bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing) or one energy type (acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic). If you choose a kinetic damage, you ignore damage of that type equal to your base attack bonus; this doesn't stack with DR. If you choose an energy type, you gain energy resistance against that type of energy equal to your base attack bonus.
——
I believe the original version of the feat did not require you to choose a type of physical damage. I would need to check a dead tree version of the rules to verify what the original text was.
Shokil |
I'll update the sheet. I normally keep my equipment in a separate spreadsheet as that makes tracking purchases and such easier. That might have to happen this evening for me.

Radiation rules in brief
Radiation is considered a poison that can cause the disease radiation sickness. It is generally an emanation and no race I am aware of can directly detect it.
In gameplay I gave links to two technological devices that could detect radiation. As far as I am aware, no one in the group has either device.
Armor protects you against low levels of radiation and grants a +4 circumstance bonus to saving throws against higher levels of radiation. Armor of 7th level and higher grants immunity to medium radiation levels and provides a +6 circumstance bonus to saving throws against higher levels of radiation. No armor's bonuses apply to saves against radiation sickness, regardless of the level of radiation exposure that caused you to contract it.
I believe it is a GM call, but I have been running it that you need your environmental seals activated on the armor to get the immunity.
The armor and item level that I have noted for everyone is as follows:
Azara: D-Suit III, level 9
Dytabail: D-Suit II, level 7
Kiff: Lashunta tempweave, basic, level 4
Shokil: Vesk Overplate I, level 6
Sprocket: Lashunta Tempweave Adv, level 8
Oddman: kasatha microcord II, level 6
Here is how the poison and sickness are written for Starfinder.
RADIATION
Type poison, emanation (see above); Save Fortitude (see chart)
Track Constitution; Frequency 1/round
Effect At each state of impaired and beyond, the victim must succeed at a DC 18 Fortitude saving throw or contract the radiation sickness disease (see below). Cure none
RADIATION SICKNESS
Type disease; Save Fortitude (same DC as the level of radiation that caused the radiation sickness)
Track physical; Frequency 1/day
Effect Radiation sickness isn't contagious. Cure 3 consecutive saves
Now you already know that whatever is here doesn’t follow the normal rules for radiation because you haven’t had to make Fortitude saves every minute.
“Life Bubble doesn’t provide protection from energy damage, negative or positive energy (such as found on the Negative and Positive Energy Planes), or radiation;”
Remove Affliction does not cure radiation effects.
The rules for radiation are spread all over the rulebooks so it is possible that I missed something. I’m putting this admittedly incomplete explanation here so you know what is happening from a game mechanics point of view.
The parts I have intentionally left out (such as frequency) are specific to the radiation in this scenario.
Oddman |
Oddman has a Resist Radiation spell gem, which is kinda garbage, but he can cast it on the whole group and it's good for 7 hours.
I'm guessing it's medium radiation at minimum, or our armor levels wouldn't matter.
We didn't need to roll the fortitude checks yet, or have you been rolling them in secret?
