Tangent, but when and for what did Paizo stat up the Deep Crow?

I think that's completely awesome. Maybe now I should stop cursing Gabe and Tycho thrice at each moonrise for throwing their filthy lot in with 4e.

Deep Crows are in Pathfinder #16, pages 80-81.

And as far as the closed content in an otherwise OGC book, anything copyrighted is automatically exempt from the OGL, and Deep Crows are copyright Penny Arcade, 2008.

Um, not so much. Anything you write is technically copywrited (at least in US law) so you can use copywriten content. However, you have to put it in section 15 if it's not yours (for OGL)

Now that said, it is the discression of the writer to release rights to allow other people to use their work. Litorians are copywrite Monte, but he allows others to use them, just get permission first.

That's why the Deep Crows are specifically called out as *not* OGC.

IANAL

That's what I forget for forgetting the order of operations:

1) Wake up
2) THEN Post.

For instance, I know that the wizard, rogue and fighter classes are OGC, and I also know that "Elminster" is PI. But where falls the long stat-block for a poorly built epic wizard/rogue/fighter/archemage which appears in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting?

That's where you and I part ways, you see Elminster as a poor build because he's got "wasted" levels which detract from his effectiveness as the Old Mage of Faerun. I see it as an organic build of a centuries old individual which represents the history of the character, and the fact that he's a novel tool, and story hook NPC, not a player character. Sometimes it's more than just about number crunch.

BTW, you also forgot his 3 levels of cleric.

I think you gave your own answer right there. There's a statistic that proves that most violent crimes are commited within the family.

Does this mean we'll end up on the Jerry Springer show?

The Paizo two-hour television special.

No we'll be recreated in a special edition of The Wire.

Most people will understand less than half of what we say but everyone will agree that it is amazing...

On a Semi-related note: the Tome of Secrets seems to have some interesting stuff as well. I am tempted to go ahead and get the PDF but I kind of want to wait for the physical product. What's a gaming addict to do?

Tell me, mortal, why should my master care for little wheenies like this? Say Frienzied Berserker, and he'd be probably interested.

Actually, I see him as that too. I loved Making of a Mage years before I knew anything about D&D. But that doesn't mean he isn't a poorly built epic character. =p

I always found Elminster's writeup to be humorously obnoxious. "Screw you, I have ten more character levels than my most powerful enemy I'll do what I want with them."

Though, you're right, I totally forgot his cleric levels.

Seriously, though. Most of this thread is just base speculation.

Edit: OOh! and jester.

I got one!

Wonder if he even bothers prepping clerical spells at all?

still no additional info?

Hey there all,

I am hoping to post up a bit more on the four new classes tomorrow. I am seriously considering locking this thread down, due to its extreme wandering, so that we can have a fresh thread to start with tomorrow.

Thoughts?

I'll be back to check in later.

Yea, I probably would. If I weren't already posting here, I would probably be more likely to check out a fresh thread than a 15 page one.

Am as curious as anyone about the new classes, though. ^^

Liberty's Edge

There's a lot of drek to this thread.
Drek that I would shed no tears for.
I say.....gut it.

I can't wait! (For both.)

Everybody else? They're kind of blasé about the whole thing, as you can tell...

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Mairkurion {tm}, what's wrong with this thread? Everyone is so Smurfy and smiling. We love this thread.

Ignore the blue rat. Hog tie this thread, drag it out behind the shed and put one between it's eyes! That's what I think.

I'd like to join the chorus of those who say "give this thread the axe and start with a clean slate."

Are you looking at it for the new classes, or the new rules systems like chases? I've always found new classes much easier to use from a PDF, but whole new rules systems usually do better with a hardcover IMO.

Anyway, I just hope the cavalier isn't too similar to Green Ronin's version, which really just felt to me like a Fighter with a social skills-focused template slapped on it.

My master appreciates your attitude. He's a bit concerned though. If your the last knight left this sounds as he will have to wait some time before the next war can be fought.

Liberty's Edge

Gut it. With prejudice and a sharp longsword.
Looking forward to whatever news is from the horses mouth.

Oh wait. There are Elves left. General Lastknightleft, I've a job for you.

Jason, lock it down with my blessing (for what that's worth, lolol).

I think it will be a whole lot more productive to just start again with less preconceptions.

You give us a blog post and tell us what YOUR basic ideas actually are, and what the plan is, and then we can use that as a starting point for discussion

I say anything over three pages long is far too long to have to wade thru till you get enough solid information to actually have a discussion about it!! Kill this monkey... kill it dead! (that's worse!)

In that case, I move that this thread is bestowed perpetual invulnerability to any locks, and is made sticky and get its own link on the main page.

I do this, of course, to be contrary. We followers of Chaos are required to be contrary at least once per day (though of course we don't always do that, because it's a rule and must therefore be broken).

Just rename the thread to "Rumors, Lies and Misinformation about the next PfRPG BASE Classes". No need to lock it, just a little truth in advertising. If you lock it the bickering will move to the new thread :P

Alright... this one is locked. The messageboard post that covers the new classes goes up tomorrow. Feel free to start new threads to talk about them there. Please leave the side-track arguments out of those threads.
