Male Human Expert 1

Sorry folks, no update today. Just drove back to my hometown and I'm getting on a plane to Georgia soon and I'll be spending the rest of the week there. I'll try and have something up soon but things may be brief the next few days.

Male Human Expert 1

Okay, I'm still alive and you are not forgotten. I've just been enjoying my first real vacation in awhile. I promise I'll get something up this evening.

Male Human Expert 1

With skillful precision, Dannad unlocks both of the chests and the coffers.

Which chest was Vandis smashing? The unlocked one?

Male Human

The locked one.

Male Human Expert 1

Before Dannad can get to the second chest, Vandis smashes the latch and most of the lid along with it.

The inside is filled with 10 simple but tightly sealed bags.

Vacation is over now. We can get back to business as usual.

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"Ill-gotten gains, I don't doubt," says Dagobert placidly.

Male Human Expert 1

Investigating the bags reveals an assortment of gems contained in each one. Not the greatest cuts, but they'd likely yield a decent amount by Punjar standards.

The coffers and remaining chests remain closed.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

I've been busy packing this weekend and will be moving today and tomorrow, so I might not be quick in responding to things until the new place is set up.

Dannad looks slightly disappointed in not being able to unlock the last coffer, but he makes due with opening the two chests and rifling through their contents.

Male Human Expert 1

The first chest catches Dannad off guard as an unexpected trap is sprung, shooting a small arrow at him as the lid opens. Dannad's quick reflexes are the only thing that keep him from taking an arrow to the eye. It flies off behind him, missing the rest of the party and snapping against the rock.
Arrow Trap; 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 vs. AC for 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage.

The contents of the trapped chest do not warrant its security, however, and is mostly made up of copper.
680cp and 50sp

The last chest contains no traps as Dannad opens it, revealing more copper, silver, and what looks like several platinum pieces interspersed.
800cp, 120sp, 50 platinum coins

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"It does appear to me as if they were leaving the nest. That happens from time to time, if the threat is great enough."

Male Human Expert 1

Bump. Anyone else want to move things along or add something? If not I'll keep things going tomorrow morning.

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"I'd say we should leave these ill-gotten gains here to collect on our return."

M Eladrin Pursuing Avenger

Hawkseer seems to have little interest in the coin and is ready to move on.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

Dannad pockets a platinum coin before closing the coffers and things back up and tickling their locks to re-lock.

"I agree with our friend. These ought to still be here for us when we's on our way back."

Male Deva Shaman 2

"Yes, let us be off. We have better things to consider tonight than simple gold and silver."

Male Human Expert 1

The party leaves the coffers undisturbed for now and continues along the walkway past the river. A short ways through the slick, narrow passage another chamber is revealed.

At the far end of the natural chamber squats the loathsome statue of an enormous rat. A trio of iron braziers flanks the statue, casting a dull flickering light about the chamber. Piled between the rat’s paws is a king’s ransom in gold, silver, and jewels. The statue’s ruby eyes scintillate hungrily in crimson light.

Map update will be coming along tomorrow morning. Also, everyone let me know how many surges you spent during the short rest with the chests.

Party HP

M Eladrin Pursuing Avenger

OP isn't letting me log in right now, but two.

EDIT: Fixed

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

Used one surge to get back to nearly full.

HP - 29/31
AP: 1
Temp hp - 0
Bloodied - 15: Surges - 6/9: Surge value: 7

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

Dagobert looks speculatively at the rat statue, and tuts disapprovingly.

"Oh dearie me. This isn't right at all. The average rodent is not capable or creating a deity, to my knowledge. I do not advise touching anything in here."

Male Halfling Rogue 2

Dannad's eyes light up when he sights the hoard.

"Well, this might be quite the lucrative venture after all...."

He looks around as they approach, scanning for traps after his earlier near miss.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 Perception.

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"Don't touch it Dannad. We have not yet seen a scrap of gold or jewellery in this place. Bait, very likely. Don't be a foolish rodent."

Dagobert voices a probably fruitless warning.

Male Human

"Shut up, dwarf."

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"You're not likely to have had my experience of the snares used in vermin capture, being a foreigner, but I think our young friend should be careful."

Dagobert blandly ignores Vandis, but take the precaution of standing well clear.

"That is a very fine sculpture of a King Rat, which is not healthful at all to my way of thinking."

Male Human Expert 1

UPDATED MAP
Updated Hit Points

Dannad:
As you approach you realize just how large each of the statue's ruby eyes is. Each would likely fetch nearly 1000gp.

Dannad creeps steadily closer, scanning the surrounding area for traps.

Important Note: There is, in fact, a door on the eastern wall of this chamber. I will add it for visual reference when I make my next map update.

Male Human Expert 1

Bumpity bump bump.

Also, I just realized last month was our anniversary for the game. I thought it was this month for some reason. So happy anniversary Punjarans!

M Eladrin Pursuing Avenger

I think we're watching Dannad. And happy anniversary!

Male Deva Shaman 2

Galad watches on, eying the statue suspiciously.

I'm surprised no one made a Religion check to figure out who this idol is for yet. Religion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

M Eladrin Pursuing Avenger

Guess it seemed kind of obvious, but sure: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

Dagobert got distracted by the fact that it was a giant rat. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 - Religion

Male Human Expert 1

Dagobert is all to familiar with the demigod known as Niramuth. Hawkseer knows the deity by its older name, Narrimunâth. No matter the name, he is the god of plagues and debilitating illness, the patron deity of wererats, those who would spread sickness, and other forms of vermin.

The domains Narrimunâth is associated with are Death, Destruction, and Evil. His favorite weapon is the sap, and his symbol is a mangy, dead, or undead rat.

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"Come away, Dannad. That's not a nice god at all. Most unsavoury."

Male Halfling Rogue 2

"Don't care how savory it is, those jewels could fetch us a sultan's ransom."

The halfling carefully considers the jewels.

"We can get them on the way out, though."

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"That is the deity of disease and debilitating illness. It is also the patron deity of wererats. I do not think Niramuth will take kindly to you lifting one of his eyes. In my professional opinion this is a nest to leave well alone."

Dagobert mangles his favourite metaphor in a desperate attempt to get Dannad away from the statue.

M Eladrin Pursuing Avenger

"Right. So we go past it all, then."

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"That, in my opinion, would be the right thing to do."

Male Human Expert 1

Having heard no dissension I will continue on.

The only way out of the room, other than the way you came, is a heavy oak door on the eastern wall. Moving to open the door reveal that it is solidly locked. A single muffled voice can be heard on the other side.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

"What's this then?"

Dannad presses his ear against the door to listen.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Perception

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 - Perception

"It's a door, with someone behind it," explains Dagobert, gently.

Male Human

"Shut up, dwarf."

Male Human Expert 1

Dannad cannot make anything out at all. He cannot even discern if it's one person or multiple people.

Dagobert can verify that it's only a single person, but the exact words are lost on him through the heavy oak.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

"I see.... Think we should force it, or should I tickle the lock?"

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

"When approaching the centre of the nest, it's not a good idea to advertise your presence," explains Dagobert sagely. "See if you can open it very quietly indeed."

Male Human

Vandis puts his hand over Dagobert's mouth in an apt demonstration of this principle.

Male Human Expert 1

Bump. Need some action before proceeding.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

Dannad starts to take out his tools.

"Right," he whispers, "let me see what I can do."

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

Dagobert breathes as quietly as he can.

Male Halfling Rogue 2

Dannad starts to work on the lock.
1d10 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 Stealth and 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18 thievery. I think I might have forgotten the extra +2 from using the thieves tools last time....

Male Human Expert 1

Dannad swiftly and expertly picks the lock, indicated by a satisfying sound of metal tumblers falling and clicking in to place. With a twist of his tools, the door begins to open.

Male Human Expert 1

Obligatory bump. :)

Male Dwarf Invoker 2

Dagobert prepares himself for whatever is to come.

Vandis has gone on his honeymoon and is away until 18 September in case you missed it on the discussion thread
