So were your days?

Eh. Yet another day of trying to get better without letting the house go all to pieces in the meantime. But I am coughing less so that's good.

Hopefully you'll be able to build up to a full night's sleep. :\

I started my first day of the new early-morning schedule and got rewarded with a field trial issue within 5 minutes of getting to my desk. That was fun.

How about you? You survived your long day, it seems.

Yeah I'm still alive, but the stink is I still made less than $10 an hour. :P But at least after today, the rest of the week should be easy. Sorry you had an early morning ninja strike.

That would be nice. I actually got up to four hours last night, so that was a huge improvement.

Famous, except in Antarctica. :)

The dirty little secret is that Antarctica hates me because I stole their chili recipe.

I always kind of pictured it more like getting torpedoed.
My ship came in, and I was standing at the airport.

Sounds about right.

I hope it is easier. I'm working from home tomorrow, so I should be immune to more ninja strikes.

Yep, that Antarctic recipe doesn't call for it.

It must really be good then. That remind me of a story I heard once. A friend of mine moved into a new neighborhood. His neighbors had never heard of better than sex cake, so he had his wife bake on for them. They took it over and then a few hours later, they got an e-mail from the neighbors. It said "we need you to send over another cake, we're still trying to decide which is better."

The Exchange

Why, when the directions for the mac n cheese called for 1/4 cup of milk, did I add 4 cups? :(

LOL. i thought you were gonna say he sent his wife over with it and when she wasn't home an hour later they said they were trying decide which was better. My mind is in the gutter.

Dark Archive

Sounds like it is somewhere lower than the gutter.

Well this will be interesting chili. I added too much brown sugar which means it will be very sweet.

Writing up a vacationer's guide to Glasgow. I'm getting well-paid for it, but it always makes me wonder how huge the return is for the final customer .... I doubt they're just keystoning ;) (making 100% profit) ....
So how exactly does one become a travel writer? I'd love to do something like that.

In this case, I got the commission because I did a writing project for someone, who happened to know another guy who needed this travel material written. I sent him some samples of my writing and he offered me the job, which I accepted.

However, in the meantime, someone else had offered to work for less, so the client told me to buzz off when I contacted him to accept the job offer. But then, the other writer got a better offer from another buyer, and dropped this project, so I was able to get the job after all, at a higher rate than I was originally going to get paid, too. :)

So I would have to say that I got this one through a combination of a fairly random 'connection' (working for someone who happened to know someone else) and dumb luck (my cheaper competitor dropping out at the last moment). =)

(Of course, having the ability to write clear prose helped, but I still wouldn't have gotten the job without several natural 20's on my "Luck" checks, so to speak.)

A good dinner, followed by Butter Pecan Ice Cream. happy boy, happy boy. :D

Ew. Doggie breath. I need to get that dog a breath mint. Well, technically I need to get that dog a teeth cleaning, but I can't afford that.

So far so good, but now begins.... dadada.. Bedtime. :/

Lets see how welll the kiddies listen tonite.

The Exchange

So my little girl has this Tinkerbell toothbrush stand that plays "you can fly" every time you touch it... I have my own version of the song, not to be sung to kids.

Spoiler:
When there's a knife in your heart,
There's no better way to part,
think of all the joy you'll find,
when you leave your life behind,
You can Die, You can die, you can die!.

The Exchange

Wow, my song scared everyone away... cool. :P

Grr. I went to tuck the boy in and found that his bedding was soaked. He was informed in no uncertain terms that if he lies to me about his bed being dry again he would lose tv privileges. I think I let him off easy.

Indeed. I know that bedwetting is a normal problem at his age. And as frustrating as it is, I can deal with that. But this is not the first time he's lied to me about it. And I still don't think that he gets that what I'm upset about is the lying not the bedwetting. :/

Yeah. He knows better than to try anything with me when he's already in trouble.

If you can figure out something to correct lying, let me know. Thankfully my 15 year old son is very bad at it, so he hardly ever gets away with it. I suspect my 12 year old daughter is a lot more subtle.
