But there's no race like gnome for the holinase.
(I liked the original as well too, I think they both look good)

Umm.....what does Seoni needs a pleasure Simulacrum of her self for?
Well, I guess she'd want the hottest piece of chicken for herself. Doesn't leave her much choice, especially when Merisiel or Kyra are otherwise occupied.
I'm not sure it's a pleasure simulacrum, though. Maybe it's a "fool that foolish kobold" simulacrum.

Maybe she just likes to date people who are her equal in the looks department and figured what could be more equal.

James Jacobs wrote:Our iconic rogue, Merisiel, is a lot closer to the look we're going with for elves. Tall and thin and kinda creepy looking but still pretty. The relevant question is, are those ears digital compatible, or do I need to get a converter box?
We call those handlebars. *grin* I tend to like the large ears, though I think their origins are from Anime elves or over-the-top Fairy illustrations.
I do not like the Night Elves for one reason... pink to purple skin, bleh!

As for strong elves... Wood Elf Barbarian. (+2 STR, +2 DEX, -2 CON, -2 INT) And nothing is stopping you from having a 16 STR at creation, which is nothing to sneeze at, unless your a Dwarf or Gnome.

I think the first long eared elf in D&D was Hiroshi Yamamoto's character Deedlit from Ryo Mizuno's D&D Forcelia campaign in the 1980s. Novelizations of the transcriopts of that campaign were published as The Record of the Lodoss War.

If they all look like this one I'll pull all my kids teeth just to see her lol

I really like the BETA racial portraits. I'm rather fond of the angular stylization that you see there, and I don't really find it "cartoony" (gawds do I hate that term applied in instances like this. It's not a freakin' Loony Tunes, people!).
I'm especially saddened to lose the dwarf and gnome. Those two had such personality. The dwarf just looked so damn confident and happy to be there. Like, "Yep! I'm in me knickers!" It was just such a great picture with a lot of character. The new one just isn't nearly as much fun - he looks much more dour and boring, like a stereotypical dwarf. Kinda sad to see the other one go.

The reason fo rthe change in the dwarf is because Snow White had to take Happy to the therapist and Grumpy was on that day so...
"Yep! I'm in me knickers" I'm gonna hafta use that one at the table. ;p

Well, there was one actual, original Tooth Fairy. ANd she wasn't exactly hot.

Well, if the bodybuilder elf had to go because they're supposed to look frail, the happy dwarf has to go because they're supposed to look grumpy.
And I know that low cha doesn't have to be grumpy, but then again low con doesn't have to be weak, either.

That dwarf did have an infectious grin, and while I always liked he image, it caught alot of flak and it wasnt entirely in keeping with Paizo's greater vision for the project.
Though I think its anice touch that their basically the same but reillustrated. Maybe the gave a similar or the same art rder to Mr. Prescott as they did to Mr. Tsang.

The elf does look a little incongruous comparative to the ability score modifiers they get. I've always preferred them to be taller than humans on average. There are enough we-folk races as it is.
By the way, can anyone tell me what kind of sword the Cleric is wielding on page 20 on the beta rulebook? I really like most of the artwork for itself, but I'm getting a serious anime/manga vibe from it (Prime example is the Barbarians sword on page 12.)

A bit of Anime/Manga vibe is not at all a bad thing, as long as it's not taken to extremes.
As to the cleric's sword, it looks a lot like a modified scimitar.
More of a katana handle with a scimitar blade.

Kyra's weapon is a scimitar, Amiri's sword is a Large bastard sword, a trophy from a Frost Giant. It's too large for her to wield properly though.

The cleric wields a scimitar, and the barbarian wields a weapon she stole from the giants and, from her backstory, can only use properly when raging.

Handles and even blades veryed from place to place and village to village. And there are many subtypes just as in short sword but It looks to be a scimitar to me
It always reminded me of hadhafang myself, and I'd call that a scimitar.
