Male Human Cleric 2

3D20= 6,11 and 20

"If we have to keep watch for such a long period, may I suggest the following watches?

Hours 1 to 8 Nombir and Erizi
Hours 9 to 16 Zrith and Shimei
Hours 17 to 24 Nomir and Erizi

We all get 8 hours sleep.

I've left Zaid out, so he can fully re-charge and have time to think about how we proceed.

Unless any of you object of course?" Nombir looks at each party member in turn

"We need to keep an eye on that hole in the roof whatever happens"

Nombir turns to Erizi and says "I'll keep my light crossbow ready. Come lets eat and drink while we keep an eye out"

"Let it be as you say." Shimei shuffles to the corner with the dog and shares a little water from his skin with the disreputable canine.

FW, 24 hours? not 16? Also, how far to the nearest water?

The Exchange

Looking at the new corebook, zaid needs to rest for eight hours plus another hour to relearn spells. The clerics need to pick a time of day to relearn spells. It is about one o'clock in the afternoon now. I would say that Sarenrae's time is dawn and Abadar's is when the shops shut so early evening say 7pm. You can rest for as long as you want.
The nearest source of water is back at the camp about one to two miles away.
By the way, I will allow you all to change over to the new rules when everyone has them which will not be until September 6th at the earliest for Brett, I'm guessing that's when Amazon will deliver.

"That seems a fair watch system if Shimei has no objections I would stand guard with him."

"That would be fine."

The Exchange

Just to keep things ticking over...let's say that you guys rest until daybreak, all the spellcasters get their spells back and everyone gets a hit point back (if needed). Then you are ready to carry on.

The watches are uneventful, if you can call the shrieks and giggles of pugwampis laughter echoing about the place. They seem to come from the main chapel area with the strange silken roof over the nave.

Restless as the night may be, everyone awakes to find themselves a little refreshed, their various aches and pains slightly relieved.

Now its time to decide your next step. You can use the map on my alias to choose a direction. The baboon headed down past the statue.

FW, before bedding down, Shimei will cast his last spell as a cure light on Nombir or Erizi, whoever needs it most.

1d8+1=9

at least my cure rolls have been good, even if I can't attack well.

In the morning Shimei goes through his ritual prayers. He asks for the Bow-father's blessing and help in the coming day.

Custom spell list 1 for spell load.

"Let us go back to the pillared hall, and to the far end. It sounded like the pugwampis were in that direction."

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

Zaid rises very early as usual and spends the early morning documenting the events of the previous day in his journal. He then spends some time studying his spellbook.

I am also getting my core rulebook form Amazon, but I think I can use the SRD to convert before then.

"I have a feeling those creatures are going to be an endless source of annoyance to us on this expedition."

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

After a night or rest, Erizi will be up to 21 of 23 hp. Not sure where Nombir stands

Male Human Cleric 2

Nombir is on full HP

Nombir has some food and drink, packs his gear and speaks to the party." How are we doing for water?".

The Exchange

Rather than hunt thru your alias' I'll say you have enough for today and when it gets dark the water will be running very low. Howzat? If anyone has brought a load extra then speak now.

"The Bow-father will provide water for us this day."

took create water. If FW will let us stretch rules a little we can line up the waterskins and fill them all.

The Exchange

The game seems to have slowed alot since I said how well you were all doing. Is everyone busy, want to convert now or just is it the lack of a genuine leader that is making any decision a two day process? I prefer things to move a bit swifter but am happy if you guys are??

Shimei I have no problem at the moment with you refilling the waterskins with your spell. I'll give a fuller answer when I have my head around the rules.

Liberty's Edge

Hi FW. I'm not happy to continue at such a slow pace to be honest. There are too many low charisma and low intelligence characters, which is why nothing gets done. Please replace me with another player. Thanks.

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

I think we have players that move at different speeds. Once we had decided to camp and rest then Erizi is ready to move on to the next day. I think the thread sits around waiting for everyone else to chip in when perhaps we should go ahead. If someone falls too far behind, then we replace them with a new character if they're not ready to step up.

In addition in a PbP game I think we sometimes have to bend the rules a bit. Sometimes when the battle result is a foregone conclusion, or when we're exploring an area we should go through it more quickly. Is it really necessary to check every 10' for traps, or just say I'm checking for traps and gloss through the procedure. We're not sitting across from each other at a table, so lets follow the spirit of the rules rather than the letter of the rules, and I think things will speed up on their own accord.

Erizi rises the next morning feeling very refreshed. Stretching he states to the group "Ahhhh It is a good day to fight let's go forward" He then gathers all his stuff and begins to clear a way into the rest of the building. "Anyone else coming along or do we want to sleep all day".

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

In my experience PbP's have a tendency to slow down during the weekends, and sometimes they get sort of deadlocked where everyone is waiting for someone else to post.

Zaid gets up from reading his spellbook.

"I am ready; I would like to see the rest of this place. I suggest we clear it room-by-room, starting with the one across the hall."

Shimei tells everyone to group their waterskins or flasks. Then he calls for the Bow-father's blessing and the gift of water. Water forms out of the air itself, filling the vessels and splashing onto the floor where the dog laps it up as it drains through the floor.

It occurs to me that we just passed through a period of erratic boards because of high demand at the Paizo store. That would have contributed to the recent slow pace. I remain enthusiastic about this game and hope Brett reconsiders and we can discuss ways to make the game better for everyone. (Also posted other thoughts earlier in the discussion thread.)

"I would prefer to go south from the great hall, but will follow you. Lead on." Shimei begins to gather his gear.

"As Zaid has said, the one across the hall is closest and may require a check then we can fan out from there."

The Exchange

I hae left the door open for Brett at the moment and like Shimei says let's continue this in the discussion thread. My fault, I asked in this one.

It is quiet in the morning as people finish their preparations for the day. Shimei manages to fill the waterskins and that divine water helps replenish the body and spirit.

The sounds of laughter and giggling from the nave, seemed to stop a few hours ago.

Male Human Cleric 2

Nombir makes sure of the water situation, then says to everybody "let's go then I guess. Shimei and Zrith, would you mind scouting ahead please? The rest of us will be right behind you".

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

Erizi has already squeezed out into the hallway awaiting the others. He nods in agreement at Nombir's statement and stands by Earthbreaker ready at hand.

Perception (1d20=7)

Nombir, glad to have you still with us.

FW

Spoiler:
Is there anyway to keep a running XP total on your profile, so we kind of know where we stand?

Shimei nods, indicating his willingness to scout. He slides out the doorway and past Erizi. The heads NNW across the statue room to peek through the doorway.

Zith follows Shimei some 20ft behind on the opposite wall scimitar in hand

The Exchange

As Shimei looks in, he sees the following;

The Deanery

Five austere beds line the north wall of this humble wall of this humble office and living quarters. A dented metal chest rests at the foot of each bed, and a mosaic pattern of red and orange glass chips brings some colour to the wall. A layer of grime and filth coats many of the surfaces in this small room, the redolent stench of dirty fur hangs heavy in the air.

The room is 10ft wide and 30ft long (vertically).

"Bedroom, looks empty but the pugwampi are small. We'll have to look through it." Shimei steps into the room and looks carefully around. When (if) more of the party enters, he'll get on his hands and knees to check under the beds. He's just looking for pugwampi-sized or larger combatants, not a full scale search.

Perception roll if needed: 1d20=11 +3= 14

The Exchange

The stink of baboon gets worse when Shimei moves into the room. The bedding is fouled. Further searching reveals that there are no more creatures left here and the chests have all been emptied.

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

Erizi follows right behind Zsith. He wants to make sure he can get there in a hurry should any action break out.

As Shimei explores the room Erizi glances back and forth between the open hallways, and the room he is exploring.

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

Zaid follows Shimei into the room and helps him look in the chests.

"All clear!" he calls out to the rest. "Let us move on to the room to the north-east."

Male Human Cleric 2

"agreed. Let's go" says Nombir moving along next to Zaid.

The Exchange

As the group pass the female statue, heading down the corridor to the closed door, they can see into the open dormitory to their right. This is made easy by the large holes in the roof. The light floods in and the beds visible through the open door are in a terrible state. The room itself appears to be well covered and dark beyond.

However the party led by Zaid reach the door to the large chamber. It is shut.

I'll try to update the map tomorrow night.

Shimei waits for the others to pass before stepping out of the bedroom. It belatedly occurs to him that a fight with the remaining pugwampis is imminent. He strings his bow and nocks an arrow. He holds it in position against the string and bow with his left hand.

Now the tail end of the party, he looks back over his shoulder frequently.

I imagine Zsith will want a go at the door.

The Exchange

Zsithreminni finds that the door is not locked, just closed. There is a decent lock but someone has carelessly blocked the far end of the keyhole with something. Faint chinks of light can be seen around it.

Male Human Cleric 2

"Any traps Zsith?". Nombir draws his great sword in anticipation.

The Exchange

See the discussion thread about updating the map. Try to follow my descriptions for now. Zsithreminni?

Looking at the door and surveying the lock
Perception check 1d20+6=13

"I dont think the door is trapped"

Male Human Cleric 2

"Ok, I'll open the door at arms length, then Erizi and I will go in, followed by Zaid and then the rest of you. All agreed?"

"Agreed." Shimei takes one last look around behind the party before focussing on the door.

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

"Agreed. Go ahead and open the door, we are ready."

The Exchange

Shimei passive perception roll, got a Nat 1. He misses everything.

Erizi and then Nombir enter the large square chamber. It has a sagging wooden balcony that overlooks the room from all sides, which must have been a library. An overpowering odour of musty, rotting paper and old leather fills the air here, and hundreds of books - most too damaged even to open woithout destroying them - litter the floors. Empty bookshelves line the walls of both levels.

The room is about thirty foot square and its roof is in very good condition.

Large wispy webs fill the corners in layers, dense patches of grey and white lacework.

Male Human Cleric 2

"ok everybody lets look around, but be on your guard! Zaid, are any of these books of use?"

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

"Watch out for spiders."

Zaid goes over to inspect the books, keeping a close eye on the webs.

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

Erizi Immediately looks around at the balcony, knowing that anything attacking from above has the advantage. He tries to determine if there is an access to the balcony obvious. He then scans the room looking for any signs of movement.

Perception (1d20=17)

Shimei looks inside the room at the books. He is not much intereseted in them, never having read one. Nervous about the silent pugwampis, Shimei stands just inside the doorway, looking back out into the hall. They must be planning something. They're too like an ill-tempered donkey to give up and leave."

The Exchange

It is readily apparent to Zaid that there are so many books here it will take him a good while to search through. Mostly the books look about to fall apart, but only a thorough search would confirm that.

Looking up and about everyone can see the webs in the shadows, but no movement or creatures can be discerned. Erizi can make out a ladder in one wall that goes up to the balcony.

It would take about at least half hour for the chamber and its contents to be searched through.

male; F +8, R +4, W +3 Human (Garamundi); AC* 17/14/13 or 19/14/15 (* When raging -1) HP 68/55(+8), Rage 14/7, Init +3, PER +8 Barbarian / Titan Mauler / 4; CMB +8, CMD 22

"We can come and search this place completely after we eliminate the threat". "I say we go forward for now".

Any other doors into the library?

"No foes here. Let us keep moving."

Edit: scanford you mind reading ninja!

"I agree with Erizi, we could waste our time in this room and suddenly get jumped upon, let us go and sally forth and rid the complex of its nasty denizens, then we can have a more leisurely stroll seeking out useful trinkets and baubles."

Male Human (Keleshite) Wizard (conjurer) 2

"I agree as well. As much as I would like to examine these books now, we should press on."

Being closest to the door, Shimei leads the way back into the statue hall and turns left .

Absent the map, I think we're working eastward along the north wall of the statue hall. FW please take us to the next door or corridor.
