Nombir gets a surprise as a tiny arrow shoots out from under the table next to him, just missing Zaid's leg. It came from the near left corner of the kitchen. The perfect hiding place.
Meanwhile the two in front of Zaid both shoot straight at the ineffectual and unlucky wizard. Both hit his casting arm making nasty little wounds.
Zaid takes 3pts of arrow damage in total.
Shimei of Merraketh |
Shimei watches Erizi lay low the baboon in front of him. Robbed of his target he turns to the baboon on the statue and lets fly an arrow. As he releases a sandfly buzzes his face, and his involuntary twitch spoils his aim.
Two attack rolls; take worst. 1d8 damage. If range is less then 30' +1 to hit and damage. (1d20+3, 1d20+3, 1d8=[16, 3], [1, 3], [2]) Lower attack roll was a 1.
Erizi the Landless |
On his next turn
Angered at the Baboon's taunting Erizi lets his hammer drop to his side, and in one motion slings his spear at the taunting beast.
Thrown Spear (1d20+2=12, 1d20+2=6)
And watches it fly wide of the target.
Zaid Al-Mahaudin |
Reflex Save: 1d20+3=17, 1d20+3=18
"Retreat!" Zaid calls out and flees the kitchen. He spots the baboon on the statue and lets fly with a small black blob shooting off his finger.
French Wolf |
End of the Round Two
Shimei fires off a harmless arrow.
Nombir to act then its the baboons. The rest of you are getting a bit ahead of yourselves, all excited like. I'll adapt your posts when and if I need to on your turn. We can keep those lovely dice rolls though.
Nombir can now see the little horror under the table next to him. It has built a nest of debris to hide behind like a miniature foritfied wall.
French Wolf |
I've had two goes FW. I cast bless in round 1 and failed to attack in round 2. I'm waiting for my turn in round 3, which is after Erizi
I've read this thread three times today and not seen your "fumble" post until now. I must be going blind or there are ghosts in the machine.
We can discuss fumbles after this encounter. For the rest of you guys I don't use critical decks but I do run a mild set of fumbles, as much for fun and giggles. They affect the bad guys too.
French Wolf |
Round Three
Baboons 22(acted)
Zaid 19(fled)
Zsithreminni 9(next!)
Pugwampis 8
Erizi 7(posted already)
Nombir 6
Shimei 3
The baboon on the statue launches itself forwards at Shimei, in one bound it jumps up at his throat, but the ape misjudges the distances and misses totally.
Zaid flees the two pugwampis, but the terrain makes that difficult. He runs past Nombir and out into the main hallway next to the baboon and in front of Zsithreminni, his headlong rush means no spellcasting.
Zaid could have run towards the statue but that would have given my baboon an attack of opportunity so putting him just behind Nombir is the best I can do and that's a 45 foot move so no spells.
Erizi please make two Perception checks for me
Erizi the Landless |
French Wolf |
The two pugwampis aim carefully at Nombir and shoot for his face, but the man ducks just in time to avoid both.
The one under the table also shoots at his foot but misses. Nombir gets an attack of opportunity.
Erizi steps back five foot into the mess hall, drawing and throwing a javelin at the baboon but he misses. And in his haste the man doesn't notice anything else.
Nombir.
French Wolf |
I'll NPC Nombir until he gets back in action. Just to keep things going.
Nombir slashes down at the partly hidden pugwampis under the table but misses in his haste. Then he takes more time and stabs hard at the beast.
[/ooc]AoO attack rolls 3 and 5 so forget that, normal attack 17 and 18 and does 6pts of damage.[/ooc]
The greatsword takes the ugly lapdog in the throat and it wriggles off, bleeding out. Dead.
Then looking at the two pugwampis at the far end, he decides discretion is the better part and legs it back out, in front of Zaid. In fact in front of everyone but beside the baboon as well. However Nombir is no longer in the line of fire from the pugwampis, Zaid is.
Note that the dead pugwampi was causing you all your bad luck, unless someone enters the kitchen then there is no longer any need to roll twice on D20s.
French Wolf |
Round Three
Baboons 22
Zaid 19
Zsithreminni 9
Pugwampis 8
Erizi 7
Nombir 6
Shimei 3
The baboon follows up at Erizi, five foot step and bites for his bleeding calf. Hot sweaty howls fill the air in the mess hall as it attacks.
Attack roll 17+3=20, Damage=7pts. they love you!
Around the corner comes bounding a much large specimen, this is the lead ape and it has rippling muscles and teeth like daggers, only black and yellow with eating rancid meat. It leaps at Nombir but the cleric dodges. Just.
Zaid and Zsithreminni.
French Wolf |
The acid bolt sizzles into the large baboon facing Nombir and its slightly distracted by the waving scimitar of Zsithreminni. Nombir gets +2 to attack.
The baboon faces Zsithreminni and Nombir, with Zaid slightly further away in the main hall nearer the statue. Erizi is inside the mess hall being attacked by a smaller baboon. Shimei is at the back.
The two pugwampis scamper forwards until they can see Nombir's back. One shoots an arrow but misses. The other points at Zsithreminni's scimitar and cackles.
Zsithreminni- make a Will Save DC12 or have your scimitar shattered. Got to love these gremlins, yes?. The pugwampis are close enough to give Nombir bad luck but not Zsithreminni.
Erizi the Landless |
Erizi beginning to feel weaker from the blood loss, takes a mighty hack at the bothersome Baboon.
Not sure if Erizi is in the Pugwampi effect zone or not, so I'll roll twice, and we can assume if not first is the real roll
Earthbreaker Attack (1d20+7=9, 1d20+7=13)...
And automatically assumes he is still under the influence of the curse.
French Wolf |
the aid another is for Nombir to have a +2 AC not +2 attack :)
Will save 1d20+2=15
Gotcha Zsit, Nombir has AC19 now.
The scimitar hums in Zsithreminni's hand but the metal holds together well.
Just imagine if that had been someone's bow (and their holy symbol) Shimei? I was so glad you fell into the cactus otherwise the first pugwampi could have destroyed your lovely bow.
Shimei of Merraketh |
Just imagine if that had been someone's bow (and their holy symbol) Shimei? I was so glad you fell into the cactus otherwise the first pugwampi could have destroyed your lovely bow.
Maybe you're not the hardened nasty evil DM you advertise. Maybe you're just a big softy. (I'm glad too, but we could have worked with the bow's loss.
A sense of foreboding lifts momentarily, with renewed confidence Shimei draws again, steps closer, focusses on the baboon attacking Erizi and looses again.
steps forward to close range to less than 30 feet if needed.
"No bad luck attack" (1d20+3, 1d8+1=[18, 3], [8, 1]) Yeah, baby 21 to hit, 9 damage. Might wish I had taken a shot at the big one instead.
French Wolf |
Nombir sends out healing energy to one and all. It washes over everyone including the smaller baboon and one of the pugwampi. He denies the larger baboon any benefit.
Then Shimei steps up behind the smaller baboon and lines up a shot at its back. The arrow thuds and the ape falls forward onto Erizi's foot.
Nombir remember to tell us which one baddie you selectively choose not to channel healing through each time. Check out the feat description for a better explanation.
Round Five
The only remaining baboon, feral and cunning, counts the battle lost and withdraws back down the corridor and around the corner out of sight. It yells as it goes, thumping the walls in frustration.
Zaid and Zsithreminni. Note that the pugwampis are fifteen feet inside the kitchen and the ground is still every bit as sharp.
French Wolf |
Under this alias is a link to the detailed map of the Old Monastery. As and when you guys explore further, I'll update it. One small point is that the large baboon hasn't made it out of sight yet. Its towards the bottom of the picture. It will escape next round. I had described it differently so feel free to change your actions based on the new info if you want. As for the pugwampis, I pencilled them (and you) in and they can be barely made out in the kitchen, next to each other on two tables.
Under normal circumstances I would have done this sort of map towards the start of the fight (or given out gridded info). I'm sorry I tried to cut corners a little by just describing everything, partly because I have been involved in the death and funeral of a friend. I'll do better next time.
Right, Zsithreminni do you want to act differently this round?
French Wolf |
Thanks for your support, and I'd like to say that my pugs go easy on you but they don't.
Both of the little devils shoot at the nearest visible target, Nombir. They go for his face and take particular delight in aiming at his earhole. One tiny arrow scratches his face while the other goes straight in (but doesn't come out the other side). Then they both scuttle back to the far end of the tables about twenty five feet from the entranceway.
Attack rolls 22 and 23(possible crit), to confirm 21. Nombir takes 9 points of damage, most from the second arrow. Over to you guys Erizi, Nombir and Shimei first.
Shimei of Merraketh |
"Pardon me, O Honored of Sarenrae. " Shimei squeezes past Nombir into the kitchen and moves to the right wall. He draws another arrow from his quiver, nocks it and releases, but steps on something painfully sharp as he does so.
DC 12 Reflex Save v. Floor damage (1d20+2=5) Fails!
Attack roll, bad luck attack roll, damage. Assumes range less than 30'. (1d20+3, 1d20+3, 1d8+1=[7, 3], [10, 3], [6, 1]) 10 to hit, 7 damage. I imagine that misses.
Erizi the Landless |
Erizi takes a moment to survey the situation. He has been here before in the arena. He is badly injured and needs to end the combat quickly, but doesn't really know his opponent.
Suddenly an idea occurs to him. Assuming there is not a good door on the kitchen, Erizi reaches down and grabs one of the table from in front of him, and stands it up.
"Make way" he bellows as holding the table in front of him he approaches the door. Then he firmly plants the door in the entrance to the Kitchen.
Assuming its possible Erizi intends to wall off the Kitchen from the rest of the Dungeon, and let the ornery Pug's starve to death.
French Wolf |
Erizi - of course you can do this. But the table is about fifteen foot long and made of decent wood (it has stood the test of time). Therefore I'll allow you a Strength check DC14, however much you pass by is the amount of feet that you can move it, since it is so unwieldy.
As Erizi lifts the table he realises it is made of dark wood, mountain cedar and will take some effort, however the pugwampis are nowhere near...
EDIT: Feel free to take Nombir's healing into account Erizi
Erizi the Landless |
After the healing I have 8 hp left out of 23
Strength Check (1d20+5=7)And realizes in his weakened state he will not be able to move the table. Hi gaze then hardens in resolve, and he decides to take out the Pugwampi's once and for all, and begins to move in their direction.
French Wolf |
round six
nombir finds the table much too heavy, and erizi moves off into the kitchen.
zaid and then zsithreminni, sucking eggs here but remember to roll for your badger's attacks twice. it needs to make a small acrobatics check twice to safely land on the table, if you wish. say dc5 but if it fails it takes 3 pts of sharp damage as it tumbles onto the floor and no attacks. or it can attack from the floor, and make the necessary reflex rolls to avoid sharp damage. anyone notice my keyboard is playing up.
Zaid Al-Mahaudin |
Zaid is down 2 hp after the channel;
The badger's Ref bonus is +5, so can we say he safely lands on the table next to one of the pugs?
Raging badger attacks a pug:
1st claw attack: 1d20+4=5, 1d20+4=19
2nd claw attack: 1d20+4=20, 1d20+4=8
bite attack: 1d20-1=18, 1d20-1=15
bite damage: 1d3+3=5
