3. I could show you online video of mine, how about yours?
Just for kicks, I can show you an online video of my Boston Terrrier Wilbur helping himself to apples off my apple tree. He's a pretty dexterous little dude.

Druids and rangers with animal companions suffer the same -4 penalty as characters of Lawful Good alignment. Lawful Good rangers with animal companions are, of course, in deep trouble ...
Nice!
Hmmm, how can I get that one into an adventure:) Cute owlbear chicks huzzah!

2 things.
1. That is a "TERRIER" which is not the dog represented in the DMG, which is more like a Germain Shepherd if I am not mistaken, but it is definatly not that small breed of dog you have there. The smaller breeds are naturally more dexterous than the larger breeds.
2. Even your smaller dog is not as dexturous as your natural born average cat. Link

Of course his door is as agile as a cat, it's a door. Doors don't get Dex scores as far as I know.

Meh. Just posted it for fun. I don't have a dog in this fight {pun intended}

You forget the menace of certain variations of door...

Work is in progress on Pawfinder, so ideas are being gleefully mined, pillaged, stolen and mutated.

My cat just pulled a move I thought only dogs did: Ye Olde Wipe My Poopy Ass All Over the Living Room Carpet trick.
Is that a feat or a Combat Maneuver?
Damn cat.
Yeah, mine gave me Strategic Placement of Half-Digested Rodent in Hallway. That's gotta be a combat manuver, since I almost died slipping on the vomitus mass in the predawn darkness, then had to instantly make a DC20 Fort save or lose my cookies ....
Stoopid cat.

Hmm...the perfect attack dog...Bull Mastiff size....Chihuahua attitude. Now THAT, my friends, wold be a dangerous animal! Being the proud owner of five chihuahuas I can say first hand that they don't back down from ANYHTING which almost caused us to loose one to a Doberman Pincher. Luckily, I got between them before any fighting started (the Doberman could have been killed! :-))

Terriers of Terror ... already included in Pawfinder for your gnomish dying pleasure. :-P

I just did a couple of sketches for Pawfinder on dry-erase boards that I am hoping can be scanned in from digital picture. Probably won't be able to mess around with mapping software for, oh, say 3 weeks at the present estimate. :)

If I may be semi-serious in this thread for a moment, (not that I know if I should, what with all the epic conflict going on with the Cat-astrophes and acts of Derring-Dog-Doo,) in a game of ours recently, one of my players got into a fight with a riding dog (a big mastiff.) She got an attack on it flatfooted, but missed its flatfoot AC of 14. Game actually ground to a halt for a little while because she couldn't conceive that an ordinary riding dog would have a +4 natural armor bonus.
"Its fur is as good as a chain shirt!" she cried, incredulously. And I have to admit, she has a point.
Any thoughts, from posters or designers alike?

I do not believe that, when they statted up the 'mundane' animals that they were going to also be able to have barding AND a comparatively high Dexterity bonus to AC AND function as an animal companion.
Although they may well have - that is a good question...

Armor Class: 16 (+2 Dex, +4 natural), touch 12, flat-footed 14
Yeah he +4 natural armor. I think that is insane, no dog has hide as tough as a chain shirt, maybe the bone structure has a factor?
I think that at probably should be knocked down to a 2 Natural AC, and a Dex of +2 meh, so long as a cat gets at least +3 (or more) I can see that bread with a dex of 14/15.

Tim:Follow. But. Follow only if ye be men of valour, for the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived. Bones of full fifty men lie strewn about its lair. So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth...
There he is!King Arthur: Where?
Tim: There!
King Arthur: What? Behind the rabbit?
Tim: It *is* the rabbit!
King Arthur: You silly sod!
Tim: What?
King Arthur: You got us all worked up!
Tim: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit. That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
Sir Robin: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
Tim: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: I'm warning you!
Sir Robin: What's he do? Nibble your bum?
Tim: He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!

Getting back on topic a little, if only to help the mad guy out, what should the dex of a cat be?
15, 17, 19?
What does it take for one to do a tripple backflip and catch something in mid air untrained, and just for the thrill of it.
In general their reflexes are astonishing. Ever try and get them to treat your hand as a toy and play keep away. I did, once. The cat was a good 10-13ft away and he was on me like white on rice.
Personally I would say 17 would be proper, you?

That would be based on the size of the furball IMO. Cat in the MM is a Tiny Animal, so the simplest fix is to bump its DEX up to 19 (2 better than the Small Dog in the MM).
Oh, and Acrobatics is probably a 'trained class skill' for cats and quite a few other animals ... you have to remember to convert over the skills...
