The spymistress arrives.
Ahh good, PlantJack, she purrs. How very timely.
I overheard a very interesting discussion between Kobold Cleaver and a cloaked figure a short while ago.
For free, I'll tell you that apparently an organisation called 'The Servants of the Board' has been disbanded, and that Kobold Cleaver is going to be a 'Blackguad of the Board'. His marble certainly went black.

Of course all of this could be a cunning plot to mislead me and get me to report this to you...
I'll leave you to make your mind up on that. You know Kobold Cleaver and who he reports to.

The spymistress slip away again.

Plantjack takes a step back. Then, he turns to the two intruders.

"Get. Out."

Azran & Aritha left the thread in the post you quoted. I think PlantJack is here, and the Board Warden (unless he's moved since he last posted) but I'm not sure if anyone else is.

Gah. Oops.

A shade walks at noon, when the shadows are at their least. He casts phantom shards of ivory across the altar and studies the result. He 'hmms', then sighs.

Fire and lightning, born of night, reaper of the stars. Northern wind, freezing cold... does she have a sibling?

Then noon is past, the phantom and his sticks fade away, and the shadows begin to lengthen...

SCREEE! Cheap shade didn't even leave an offering!

For a moment, there are strange omens in the flight of birds, and the shapes of the clouds. Then they pass.

Night storms over the Place of the Winds, gathering in speed and fury, bound for the Eyrie.

As Arielle and Azuri'ith practice, a shadow glides towards them...
Twenty men, mounted on giant eagles, glide towards the two, not betraying a hint of fear. They have none.

"It's important that you remember that when you pull the winds from one place it creates ripples in the balance. You have to be prepared to heal those ripples afterwards or you can cause disastrous results somewhere else. Now try it again, only start slower."

Arielle concentrates on the air before her, slowly speeding it up and speeding it up until it becomes a small cyclone, then a bigger cyclone. Then she loses hold of it and the cyclone jumps over the water becoming a huge waterspout. She wrinkles her nose as she concentrates really hard trying to regain control of the cyclone.

A spectral arrow flies through the air, at the girl. There is a shout, and it vanishes. A raven flies overhead, and it is the one that spoke.

"No! We need the--move!" out of a cloud fly twenty eagle-flying men. One of them is not quick enough, and is hit by the spout. His screams persist until he hits the water with a sickening splat.

The raven speaks, and Azurith feels his connection to this plane fading, pulled away by a mighty--and familiar--force.

The men on the eagles seem unsurprised by the raven. Indeed, they seem encouraged. They fly down to the girl, and one grabs her by the hand. "Come with us, girl. You won't be harmed."

Arielle steps back. Lightning starts to crackle around her.

"You're lying."

"Yes, I am. But if you come quietly, I doubt you'll be hurt much." The man's voice seems sympathetic, but he does not let go. The electricity is clearly hurting him, though not as much as it should be.

"Um, Tarvek? Maybe we should be careful."
"Dral, you worry too much. It's only a girl."

"Um, Tarvek? Maybe we should be careful."
"Dral, you worry too much. It's only a girl."

"I'm not gonna come quietly." The lightning increases in intensity and the wind speed picks up. In addition to the cyclone, there are now fist sized hailstones falling from the sky.

"Tarvek! We need to be rational here!" The older man's voice betrays only a small hint of fear.

"Dral! Are you a commentator, or are you a mage! She's still learning!"
"The fact is, if she has enough--"
"DRAL!"
The other men look furious. Dral sighs and speaks a spell.
"I am moving this, because I can tell that she isn't very good at focusing her location. If I were to--"
"Dral, you are an idiot!" Another man shouts. Unfortunately, he is then hit in the head by a hailstone, and is knocked out.

The waterspout has moved back onto land and is starting to pick up extra debris including the hailstones. It barrels straight towards them. Arielle doesn't look the slightest bit afraid of it. She sends a huge lightning bolt at the one called Tarvek.

"Um, guys? I don't think my banishment spell worked." Dral looks frightened.
"Dral, this isn't funny. She's a little girl. You're one of our best mages. She's not even trained." An old woman beside him says.
"Stina, we're going to lose."
"We will not submi-- Tarvek yipes. One of the men has hit him over the head with a club.
"Sorry, I'm not about to die, Tarvek! Lady, we surrender!"
The other men nod gravely. Dral sighs, and looks meaningfully at Stina. She nods. They both speak a single word.
BOOM

To be continued!

The wreckage is terrible. Only Tarvek seems completely unharmed by the blast, though the lightning bolt seems to have singed him nastily. Dral and Stina are the only others of the team that seem to be alive.
"Which of you said it?"

"Which of you said it?"

"Both of us." Dral struggles to his feet. "Where did the girl go? She should have been hit the hardest, she was right next to you."

Feel free to decide what happened.

Tarvek curses. "I can't believe Kobold Cleaver stuck us with a bunch of new people. Did he want us to fail?"
In case you can't tell, my new plan is that by giving them names, they won't be killed here.

"I'd be careful if I were you, Tarvek. I would hate to have to kill you." Dral says sadly.

Dral finishes scrying. "Yes, she is gone. That was our last chance. Now they'll be more careful. We are definitely in trouble."

"No." Coughs Stina angrily. "Kobold Cleaver sent us with a bunch of newbies. I suspect that he will be in trouble."
The three stumble off, to their headquarters.

Meanwhile, a raven lies on the ground, all but dead.
:This is enough. You aimed to kill:
"It is the only way to create a Seer Lich."
:Count me out then. Get out:
"My dear young friend, do you think that that is an option? However, I agree. This body is not big enough for both of us. Your spirit takes up too much energy. With you gone, I will be able to leave before to do-gooders get here."
:Mask?:
"Here, I'll tie you to this place so that yo can tell your friends all about this. I believe that they will be used to that. They will appreciate it, too, it will give them an indefinite time to punish you."
:MASK!!!:
"Goodbye, Frogskin."
There is a popping sound and the entire Place turns black.
