Thanks for the opportunity to come back and I will be not only more consistent in my posting but also be better at letting you know when something happens that might take me away from PbP. I have cut back considerably on the number of games I am participating in so should be able to post much more frequently. Again, I apologize for not letting you know about the absence and will do my best to not let that happen in the future.

All is well. Let us game!
Borden, Dreav, Tham and Kysstaa's next post is scheduled for Wednesday morning. (Sadly it won't happen today due to me getting off of work later than usual).

Alright! Looks like we're about to hit the road. Please, please, PLEASE use the OOC thread.
A side note: I'll be updating the PbP for this round of folks and the originals (side note: JZ needs to pay attention now) starting immediately folks. Please finish up the last details by Thursday, but as a note, once you are ready, go ahead and post in the PbP. I'll be doing another update Friday evening/Saturday morning.
JZ: Create an alias with Kysstaa in it, make it Kysstaa_JZ or somesuch so that we don't run into any problems with thforums saying the name's already taken.
Many thanks,
/d

Okay we lost Xaladra, and Khaeden by the look of things. No posts for over a month. I'm going to go with they aren't with the party at the moment, looking up other leads together.
Sorry for late notice on this, but I don't want to penalize anyone for this, All future encounters have been scaled to the party's current composition. Adjustments will be made as necessary.

Excellent, then. We have all the bases covered, but I wanted to make sure everyone is happy with this as we play. Thank you all for confirming.
Dathom/Borden:
I figure you're getting over some jetlag from your holiday, so chime in when you can.
Tomorrow I'll be updating late. I've got a couple of things to complete before then, all work-related.

I've updated Moonpate to 3rd Level, except for the adding of spells to his book. How do you want to handle that? Also, I still have that necro's spellbook from the haeler that Dreav and Moon have yet to learn it's contents.
For future levels, I am considering the Scholar from Adventuring Classes: Fistful of Denarri and maybe the Incantatar prestige class. But I am open to suggestions as I am totally new to this prestige class stuff.
Darkmeer |
Moonpate and Dreav:
0-level:
Resistance, Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Read Magic, Daze, Ghost Sound, Bleed, Disrupt Undead, Touch of Fatigue, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Open/Close, Arcane Mark, Prestidigitation
1-level 5+3
Cause Fear, Charm Person, Chill Touch, Color Spray, Hypnotism, Ray of Enfeeblement, Enlarge Person, Expeditious Retreat.
2-level 4
Blindness/Deafness, Hideous Laughter, Levitate Touch of Idiocy
3-level 2
Suggestion, Vampiric Touch
Any spells you want to learn, place before a "dice" spoiler, you have the afternoon to learn them, and can prepare anything you want before the expedition in Ghelve's Locks.
Moonpate |
Spells Attempted to Learn:
Charm Person DC16; Roll=1d20+9=15=did not learn
Chill Touch DC16; Roll=1d20+9=22=learned
Hypnotism DC16; Roll=1d20+9=25=learned
Enlarge Person DC16; Roll=1d20+9=25=learned
Blindness/Deafness DC17; Roll=1d20+9=23=learned
Hideous Laughter DC17; Roll=1d20+9=29=learned
Levitate DC17; Roll=1d20+9=28=learned
Touch of Idiocy DC17; Roll=1d20+9=11=did not learn
Will have to write these in to my own spellbook later when time and money permit.
Also, would like to find a source in the city for some scrolls after we are done at Ghelve's.
I will update Moonpate's profile a bit later today to indicate what spells he has memorized for our foray to Ghelve's.

Phrip wrote:Am I the only one that has advanced their character level based on the recent experience point awards?Based on my calculations, we lack about 2500 xp in order to advance to level 3. Have to remember that Darkmeer is using a different XP progression than normal.
I thought we were using the Fast progression chart.

Ahhh, I was looking at Darkmeer's Page. See below for the copy:
General campaign rules (cut 'n' paste of the original rules, so that if I need to recruit or refer back to this later):
Rules are simple:
Start at level 1
PFRPG 25-point buy,
Set HP: max HP at first level, add 1/2 your hit die +1 + Con modifier every level thereafter (i.e. a 2nd level paladin would receive 6 + his con modifier for hit points at that level and each level taken of paladin thereafter.).
Set gold amounts. Arcane classes: 100 gp plus spellbook and/or bonded item, Divine Classes: 125 gp, Martial Classes: 175gp, Aesthetic Classes: 40 gp (includes battle Dancer and Monk), Roguish classes: 125 gp.
2 free traits (this represents the myriad of regional feats, although I am not banning those, but will convert them on a case-by-case basis, email me for details.)
Fast XP Chart
Good or Neutral with good tendencies for the alignments (no EVIL alignments)
This will be set in the Forgotten Realms, specifically in the Hazur mountains on the eastern edge of the Tashan Gap, just north of the Black Jungles........
So, DM, how about setting us straight.

For brevity's sake, I apologize to everyone for the confusion. I cut & pasted from my second game and put the XP chart up incorrectly. That is my fault, and I take full responsibility for that. The XP Chart Borden is quoting is correct, not the one in my profile. I have posted it here:
Experience table
Level / Experience Required
1 / 1000
2 / 3000 (for ECL 0 races)
3 / 6000 (level 2 for ECL +1 Races)
4 / 12000 (level 2 for ECL +2 Races)
5 / 20000 (level 2 for ECL +3 Races)
6 / 35000
7 / 55000
8 / 80000
9 / 110000
10 / 150000
11 / 195000
12 / 250000
13 / 310000
14 / 380000
15 / 460000
16 / 550000
17 / 650000
18 / 760000
19 / 875000
20 / 1000000 (yes, 1 million XP)
Now, to make this fair, EVERYONE can level to level 3. Everyone has 6350 XP, which will make this much easier for everyone to deal with my incompetence with that (and level all the players, making challenges easier to guage). This starts everyone out fairly. I will be correcting my XP chart in my profile when I have more time.
Don't worry, I've got plenty of horrible things to throw at you to keep you challenged }:)

None in particular right now. I spend 2 skill point for a weapon Forte instead. However in future levels I was thinking about taking one or two. right now, Borden is more of a diplomat investigator, but as the AP goes on, he'll start taking more and more offensive options to reflect his adjustment to the adventuring life. For example, I took the Weapon Forte to reflect the increased amount of fighting he has had to do, both on the trek to Cauldron and in the city itself. So in the future, possibly a trick dealing with Perception and as he gains more levels, one for movement, showing his development in a more agile form of fighting style.
Darkmeer |
Sorry Borden, was thinking of the Teamwork benefits in Player's Handbook 2.
Complete Scoundrel has the skill tricks. There are quite a few movement ones (the "Stand from prone without provoking an AoO" looks nice).
The spotting tricks are all good as well, but mostly help allies get a second chance, or a chance to see what you've just seen.
(most of these require 6 ranks in the skill, so it will be a bit before you can get to them).

Welcome Oswaldo! One note about your XP, it should be 6000. I'll be writing up the end of the encounter... and the reason you ended up in Ghelves tonight (it's 1:30 AM and I am in need of sleep).
Other than the stats, if you'd add a reason to be in Cauldron from Calimsham, that would be most excellent.
Welcome aboard :)
Oswaldo |
Oswaldo heard rumours of rich mines and plantations around Cauldron, and he figured that the pickings would be easier among small-town rubes rather than the more sophisticated folks in Calimshan (where he's had a few close shaves with the law when he was playing his trade as a mediocre pickpocket).
Plus he just likes to travel and see different places.
Borden Alhurst |
So I just had an interesting idea. Since Oswaldo escaped Calimshan to take advantage of the "rubes" of Cauldron, it would be interesting if the close call was by Borden's father, since Borden hails from Calimshan as well and was raised with investigative instincts, taught to him by his father. Could possibly have heard stories of a case of a pickpocketing racket that his father had helped to find and break up, but one of the people in that ring, a young halfling, had gotten away. Could possibly find out some time after Oswaldo is introduced that Oswaldo was that halfling that got away. What do you think?
Chandos Tiberias |
I have a question regarding Chandos' ability to channel energy. Technically, a cleric of an evil deity would channel negative energy but I was wondering if after taking into account the positive energy nature of Nishrek (the home plane of the orc pantheon where inhabitants regenerate and resurrect automatically...) and combining that with the heresy if he could channel positive energy.
Here's to hoping but it is naturally your call. :)
If not, he might drop "persuasive" to pick up "selective channel" so that he could damage enemies in combat.
Also, Prestige Class interests:
Outcast Champion from Races of Destiny, self-explanatory...
Divine Disciple from FRCS (there is no alignment restriction...), I like the idea of simultaneously being a heretic of the faith of my character's deity and also a living incarnation (fluff description that goes with Divine Disciple) of my character's deity.
Possibly Evangelist but I haven't checked the skills too closely...
Do we have any melee firepower? :(
