"There are a few more rooms down here, guys. Are you up for exploring? We have the info we need to incriminate Kanto, we may as well make sure the place is empty."

"Drincilla," growls Kirwen. His hands flex, and for a moment, something that almost looks like red scales flickers across them.

After a moment, he pulls himself out of that thought and looks at Quick. "Absolutely. The boss likes it when we're thorough, and we don't want to overlook nobody."

"Does the name Drincilla mean something to ya?"

Alternatively, does the name Drincilla mean anything to Quick? She'll definitely ask around first chance she gets, otherwise.

Doesn't mean a thing to me... does it mean anything to Kirwen, BT?

M Dwarf Rogue

"Hmmm," it is clear Thrakhir is trying to recall any recollection of a Drincilla in his memory. Knowledge (local) check for Thrakhir please, BT, regarding Drincilla at a +5.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

None of you know of anyone named Drincilla.

Do any of the keys that we found on the guards above match any of the doors down on this level? There are three to try, I believe.

"I wonder what's behind these doors." Quick asks, listening at each one before trying any of the handles.

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

Juliare seems really happy to find the sales receipts.
"We got her !"
He'll carry them if everyone is ok with this

Quick and Spark wrote:

"Not yet it don't," growls Kirwen, "but that's soon to change."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Only one of the doors is locked (the heavy oak door at the end of the corridor) and Kanto would have had that key. You don't hear anything behind any of the doors.

"Hmm," rumbles Kirwen, "this one seems important. You guys didn't find a key?" Once they say no, he turns to Tharkhir. "Your way leaves less mess."

M Dwarf Rogue
Kirwen Wyrmsheart wrote:

Thrakhir pulls out a small leather case from his vest pocket and stands in front of the door so that he may work the lock.

Disable device attempt 1 = 16.

Thrakhir grumbles. "This door ain't cooperatin'."

He makes a second attempt.
Disable device attempt 2 = 25. How about it, BT?

"Weren't many locked doors in here. If something's locked, there's a reason."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
Thrakhir Flyingaxe wrote:

At the second attempt Thrakhir gets the door open. You enter a large oblong room with some sort of a shrine erected against the north (left) wall. It consists of a simple black obelisk surrounded by a mosaic of intertwined black roses.

As you enter the room a strange figure jumps down from a ledge and advances threateningly. It looks like a featureless humanoid made of some kind of silvery metal. It has a large glowing ruby set in its forehead and
some kind of insignia on its chest. It looks like a stylized grin where a capital M is highlighted in the zigzag-line of fangs.

Knowledge (local), (arcana) or possibly (nobility&royalty) could be useful here. If you possess several knowledge skills, just make one roll and apply the separate modifiers.

And of course: roll for initiative! I hope xdahnx can help me with your positions. The figure starts its turn in the far right corner of the room.

Thrakhir stares at the figure moving toward him. "What the hells?"

Knowledge (local) = 23.

Initiative = 17. Obviously, Thrakhir will be in front of the door.

Knowledge (arcana) (1d20+4=15)
Initiative (1d20+1=2)

Kirwen's probably still in the hallway, having let Tharkhir go first.

Out in the hall, Kirwen says to Quick, "If we get lucky, we'll find something to point-" He breaks off as he hears Tharkhir's outburst in the next room. "What is it?" he shouts, turning.

Here is the map. Your positions are approximates, of course. If you want to fine-tune where you are, just let me know and I'll change it. Initiative 4

"Oh boy. This ain't no Gospel Sharp."

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

Juliare is at the rear of the group . It's obvious he is as suspicious at what is behind him as what his new 'companions' are up to
initiative 13

Brock being bored with all the lock picking and batter, and tired as he had not been in some time was slow to react to the startled dwarf.

Initiative:1d20+1=3

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Thrakhir

Spoiler:
M is for Midas, who is a local crime lord known for his sadistic sense of humor. His name is rarely spoken and only in hushed tones.

The figure moves with uncanny speed to D1. It seems intent to block your access to the room.

Thrakhir is up, then Juliare, Quick, Brock and Kirwen.

"Brave don't mean stupid." Thrakhir states rather plainly as he moves away from the unnatural thing pulling out a small ax on his way. "Let's draw 'im out to the open." Moving out of the hall next to Brock/Juliare, assuming the group will let him pass.

Ugh, looks like I didn't plan well enough for this battle. Let's try this updated map, shall we?

M Dwarf Rogue
Quick and Spark wrote:

Please put me above Brock or Juliare behind the corner, Quick.

Quick and Spark wrote:

Are we really in a 5 ft wide hallway? Ugh.

Should be fixed!

M Dwarf Rogue
Kirwen Wyrmsheart wrote:

You can say that again!

Thanks, Quick.

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

"Wait , I think he could have hurt us and didn't , let's draw back and see ! "
Moving to A1

"Yeah, but now I want in that room even more," say Kirwen dangerously.

"Same here. That jewel is mighty interesting." Quick says, as she backs up from the approaching creature.

New map here. Brock and Kirwen are up.

Brock draws his Great Axe and starts to walk toward the creature

"This looks like fun time"

Believe it or not, Brock, you actually go before me. I rolled really badly on my init...

I guess I'll put Brock in D10, and we can count that as his turn, to keep things moving.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
Quick and Spark wrote:

Good idea. I'll let him ready an action to strike the creature if it attacks. That should make everybody happy. Kirwen is next then.

Black Tom wrote:

Doesn't make me ahappy, actually - I can't do anything in this space then. I have to delay until something else happens.

Kirwen growls, "Move it, axeman!"

Brock doesn't look back at the bald man but talks to him all the same "You'll get a turn baldy, just be patient."

sooo... uh LETS KILL IT!, and sorry bro didn't meant to be a cutter.

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

Robin : 'sigh , I guess it's the monster's turn'

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

As Brock advances upon the monster brandishing his axe, it reacts with uncanny speed and grace. It turns out that the sides of its hands are razor-sharp and it slashes Brock for 6 points of damage.

Ok, Brock, it's all yours. Then Thrakhir, Quick, Juliare and Kirwen.

Brock takes the hit hard and tries to step out of the door way as he brings down his axe.

Attack: 1d20 4=23

Damage1d12+6=8

Sorry guys if I did something wrong here...

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Well, since Kirwen is delaying, you could switch places if you like, but otherwise I don't see you getting out of there without suffering an AoO. Or you could both retreat (but Brock could only take a 5' step anyway).

The monster's metallic skin is tough and Brock's axe only manages to make a small dent in it.

Kirwen can act if he likes. Otherwise we'll proceed in initiative order.

Can I tell if this is a construct, BT?

If I think it is (and Brock is willing to trade places):

Spoiler:
"Tag team, axeman!" roars Kirwen, and the two warriors change places. Abruptly, a pair of red, scaled claws replace Kirwen's hands, and he launches a furious double attack on the consruct.

5 ft step to swap places with Brock, then two claw attacks:
Claw attacks (1d20+3=21, damage 1d6+3=9; 1d20+3=13, damage 1d6+3=6)

If I think it isn't or I can't tell:

Spoiler:
Kirwen glares down the corridor at the thing in the doorway, and a strange, menacing aura suddenly wraps around him. "Run," he says to the creature, in a voice that carries an unnatural terror with it.

Cast fear, DC 14.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

It's fairly obvious that this is a construct, although you are not sure what kind.

Brock backs away letting Kirwen have a go at the monster, but its skin is hard and Kirwen's claws can get no purchase on it.

Thrakhir, Quick, Juliare.

M Dwarf Rogue
Black Tom wrote:

I got a whole lotta nothin' so we'll try some creativity.

Thrakhir sets down his pack and pulls out his length of rope with the grappling hook attached to the end. He then peeks around the corner and attempts to ensnare one of the legs of the golem. Ranged touch attack with grappling hook at -8 (-4 for firing into combat, -4 for non proficiency) = -2.

Sadly, he is only successful at hitting Brock in the back. "Serves ya right," he mutters.

EDIT: Spoiler for BT

Spoiler:
BT, WorsT is thinking there must be some way past this beast, but I want to make sure you're cool with Thrakhir following that line of thought. If so, and the other two ex-slaves are with us, I would like to ask them if there was one of the slaves above who tended to the high priestess on a regular basis.

"Mind your head, boys" Quick calls as she launches a blast of electricity at the menacing construct.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Thrakhir:

Spoiler:
No problem, Thrakhir can follow any line of thought that's remotely reasonable. Raven whispers: "Kanto didn't really trust us, so she used her acolytes as personal servants. I did some kitchen duty, but I've never been in this room. That door was always locked."

Raven and Clark wait at the back, unsure of what to do. Raven whispers something to Thrakhir. Thrakhir sighs and throws a grappling hook that lands at Kirwen's feet. Quick has problems aiming her lightning without hitting Brock or Kirwen, so the construct manages to duck out of its way.

Juliare is up, then the monster.

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

Given the way the corridor is stacked , Juliare does nothing but yell
'Dammit , back up so we can attack all attack it and aid one another ! '

Black Tom wrote:

BT, not that I'm trying to tell you how to do your job, but shouldn't Quick have hit a touch AC of 16 with a -4 penalty for firing into melee?

If a touch AC of 16 is a miss, then we need another plan here, folks.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Since the monster is featureless it can't show any emotion. However it pauses for a moment, arms akimbo, and the ruby set in its forehead glows red. Then the corridor turns into an inferno as a jet of flame gushes out and envelopes the whole of it, blasting Kirwen and Brock and Quick if she's in D7 or closer.

9 points of fire damage, Reflex 15 halves.

Thrakhir Flyingaxe wrote:

Yes, but the monster also has cover for a +4 to AC.
