Male Halfling Rogue - 4

"It's been a long day. Maybe we should think about taking a longer rest before moving on. I don't know where we can rest right now. It's just a thought. I can go on myself."

Latro will use a healing surge if we are not resting. He does not need a healing word, as one surge will put him at full.

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"Thank you father Rulf. We made a good team here today - Shield and Axe" Kava examines the religeous significance of the temple room.

Latro and Kava each spend a surge and Kava heals an additional 4.
Canas (26/35 hp)
Kava (33/33 hp)
A'loran (27/28 hp)
Latro (30/30 hp)
Rulf (31/31 hp)

A'loran, there is nothing magical in the immediate vacinity.

Kava, the level of grandeur in this monastary is not the norm, even for "rich" temples. The quality of the stonework is incredible, especially in this area, which would typically not be in the public view. In fact, this area serves no obvious function, except as a hallway.

Male Human Warlock 4

Spending one more healing surge, bringing me back up to 34HP. How do I keep having exactly that amount?

"I agree with Latro. As much as I could use a good night's sleep, we can't risk it with the blood-based disappearences. *Whooo* Oh yes, and there's bound to be something valuable behind these doors if the shadow was guarding them."

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"I also. I think that I have enough spirit for another clash with the dark forces here. I am not sure that the shadow guardian might have been the one making puddles of goblins, but we should be aware never the less. Are we all ready to continue? If so I will be the first through the portal to alieviate A'lorans suspicions but our residen security expert may want to ensure the safety of the passage beyond." Kava smiles warmly at her compatriots

Before we continue, I'd like to share the current hp and surges used.

Hit Points
Kava - 33/33
Latro - 30/30
Rulf - 31/31
A'loran - 27/28
Canas - 35/35 (I know you wanted 34, but Rulf helped.)

Surges Used
Kava - 8/11
Latro - 4/7
Rulf - 5/9
A'loran - 8/8
Canas - 5/10

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

"The wizard may be unable to continue. I'm not sure how much punishment he can heal today. But Brave Lady, I will certainly check the corridor ahead."

Latro takes 10 searching for traps. Gives him a 16.

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"Bahamut has a healing gift for you little elf, when you need it I can give some of my life to you" Lay on hands will give you a surge and I can pay the cost once a day :)

Male Dwarf Cleric 4 (battle)

I too am ready to continue, but I fear that we will need to rest afore too long. Rulf says as he inspects the stonework looking for the familiar signs of Dwarven craftsmanship.

I'm not sure how my healing works for anyone without surges but I imagine that you would get the HP bonus that the spell and my healers lore gives even if you don't ge to use your surge, so if thats the case we could possibly manage 1 more encounter at best before we need an extended rest

Also I've got my daily Matyrs Blessing to pull some heat off Aloran :^)

Busy weekend: F2F game, Living Forgotten Realms, and a meeting with a Justice of the Peace means you shouldn't expect any post.

Just a little longer...

BTW, it would help me, for when I am ready to continue, if I heard from the guy with no surges left.

Oh man... I've used that many already.

A'loran leans heavily on his staff. Sweat is dripping from his brow as he turns to the others that are ready to continue. " I'm sorry guys but usually I just read books all day. All this fighting is really taking a toll on me. I don't think I could continue much longer without collapsing."

Is that a "One more and I'm done." or is it a "Let's find a place to camp."?

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

"I know I'm only a small voice and recently acquainted with this group, but I vote with the wizard. I may be used to more than reading books all day, but all this adventuring has taken its toll on me too. I say we rest."

I can give you a surge and take a hit off you no we can do one more :)

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

Upon the call to arms, Latro's inquisitive halfling nature takes over.

"Ohhh...yes, yes. Today has been most adventurous, and although I'm pretty tuckered out, I think I have one more fight in me too!"

Male Eladrin Wizard 3

A'loran slicks back his sweaty hair and moves forward with his staff "ok, If you guys don't expect me to put myself in harms way I'm good with one more."

Male Dwarf Cleric 4 (battle)

Righteo then, now that's settled I spose we can move a bit further and free this temple from what ails it. Rulf says, stating the obvious. So Latro, do ye want ta scout ahead or are we right ta just keep going down this corridor

Latro does some quick recon and can report back that around the corner the hallway slopes sharply and continues on to another archway carved to resemble a roaring dragon's mouth, but this one is filled with fire. And there are two charred goblin corpses sprawled out in the hall as if they fell out of the archway.

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

Latro takes his time and searches for traps.

"Hold up. It looks like some goblins have been charred and this passage way may hold the key. I'm gonna check for some traps."

26 on search checks. He checks the squares in front of the archway and then the archway itself.

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"That definatley looks to be trapped. I would not have thought I would ever say this but thanks be to those goblins" Kava lets Mr Ciniri do his thing

The fiery archway is definately an already triggered trap. Latro thinks he's discovered a bypass switch which is, thankfully, on this side of the arch.

Male Human Warlock 4

"So the trap is disabled, you say? Archibald, go fly through there and see what's on the other side, alright? *Whooo*" The owl flies off of Canas' shoulder and through the dragon-gate.

Once he's through, using the ability I get when he's active to see what's there personally.

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"Oh my word!" Kava starts forward "Canas! It's not safe for a little owl. He might run into any kind of beast"

Not sure if it's the internet or the site, but the google docs is messing with me. I'm going to give it a break (wasted a good 45 minutes) and try to update it later.

Archibald takes off around the corner, and a moment later Canas' eyes begin to glow.

Canas:

Spoiler:
All of this assumes that Archibald stays hidden in the main hallway.

After a dizzying flash you can see through Archibald's eyes. Smoky torches dimly illuminate a large room. Most of the north wall is taken up by empty weapon and armor racks.

To the right you can see a goblin in leather robes standing before several small archways. The goblin holds another torch aloft, and you can see shadows moving around in the hallways beyond the arches.

The left side is much more open and is dominated by another statues of a dragon, this one much larger than any others in the monastary (the red squares). Two stairways lead to a fifteen foot ledge (gray squares) behind the statue, but it is too dark to see what's up there (I accounted for low-light vision).

Unless Archibald wants to risk being seen, that's what you get. Below is the map link, but be aware that archibald can't see the southern portions of the room unless he goes into the open.
Map Link

Male Human Warlock 4

"Alright. Dragon statue to the left, and just about anything could be hiding behind it. To the right, there's a goblin in a robe with a torch. He's standing in front of several smaller archways, and something is moving in the shadows beyond them. Shall we continue on?

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

"I say we move forward slowly. Thanks to Archibald for giving us the heads up."

Latro disappears around the corner, keeping close to wall and moving quietly.

Latro moves into the room using the wall as cover. Stealth is +10 to move silently and stay hidden.

Liberty's Edge

Female Dragonborn Paladin 4

"Hopefully not more shadow demons. Latro should get the jump on the goblin. As soon as he does we should secure the room" Kava sighs and thinks I hope this was not a mistake. Bahamut help me protect them all
Seeing Latro sneak off she gives him a good head start before following a quietly as possible in shining silver scale armour

New Map
Is Latro going alone, and where's he going?

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

Latro moves quietly up the hallway toward the flickering torches. Hoping Canas' owl was accurate, he moves to the end of hall, Shuriken in hand. Once at the corner, he throws his spinning blade at the goblin, hoping to the get the drop and hoping the shadows beyond represent friends, not enemies.

Move to U13. Deft Strike (+8 [or +10 with CA] vs. AC - d6+4 [+ 2d8+2 for CA]) to U12.

No wanting to tread on Latro's sneaky toes the Dragon Paladin stays back away from him ready to charge to his aid
staying 4 squares away from Latro ... I'm thinking he's probably at U12 to throw around the corner so Kava will get to T15

Male Eladrin Wizard 3

A'loran will bring up the rear.

Latro cautiously approaches the end of the hall with the party clanking its way forward several feet behind him. Smoky torches burn in sconces at the end of the hallway, and Latro spins from the wall, launching a shuriken at the goblin that was staring quizzically at the hallway. The small knife cuts through the goblins leather robes sending up a spray of blood and a startled cry. One hobgoblin pokes his head out of the smaller room at the sound, but the shadows beyond the other archways may indicate more. Latro hit for 20 damage.

Male Halfling Rogue - 4

Latro smiles at the success of his tactics. Looking over his back, he sees his companions coming up the hall and decides that battle will be fought in this room. He finds another shuriken, steps to a slightly better spot, and once again throws at the goblin. After throwing, he moves to a position from he can hide. He whispers to Kava and Canas,

"Leave me a spot up front. I can move, throw, and return to this spot to hide."

Deft Strike to t12 (+10 with CA vs. AC - d6+4 and additional 2d8+2 for CA). After throwing, Latro moves to U14 and hides (+10 Stealth).

A'loran delays.

Latro steps away from the wall and throws another knife into the goblin's chest before hugging the wall again. Latro hit for 11 damage and G is bloodied.

I pulled out the battle map and ruler at home and A'loran has no line of effect from S14, so given his currently fragile nature, I'm having him delay. Jump in whenever.

With unfailing confidence, Kava steps up, and as she is about to throw her shield a dagger is rebounds off of her back, deflected by her armor. An unseen foe missed Kava.

She follows through with her throw, but the goblin ducks. Kava missed.

Two hobgoblins emerge from the shadowy rooms and draw javelins. They take up positions in front of the goblin before throwing at Kava. She blocks one javelin with her shield, but not both. H4 hit Kava (23 vs. AC) for 5 damage.

Two more hobgoblins draw long swords and engage Kava. Her swordsmanship is enough to keep them at bay. H1, H2, and H3 missed.

Assuming nothing happens to change my plans...

Canas dashes towards the hobgoblins, places a curse on them and attempts to scour out their minds.

Moving to S13, cursing H2 and using Eyes of the Vestige on it, H1 gets the extra curse.

Kava -

Spoiler:
Behind you is a massive statue of a dragon, its head poised to strike up at a platform 15 feet high. Two wide stairways flank the statue. At the center of the ledge is a large chunk of reddish rock, easily four feet tall and shaped like a heart (a living creature's heart, not a decorative one). The stone is perched impossibly, practically standing on edge. Floating near the stone is an orb about 3 feet in diameter and the color of rust. The center of the orb is a giant eyeball and four twitching stalks off the central orb end in bloodshot eyeballs. Another 15 foot high ledge is on the south wall, divided from the entry way.

Kava looks around and starts to say something, but A'loran doesn't wait to listen. He moves up and waves his staff. The area becomes bitterly cold and ice crystals form in the air. Two hobgoblins drop and the goblin screams in pain.A'loran hit H1 and H4 and they die. A'loran hit G for 6 damage.
