Seeking permission and partners: Guide to Korvosa fan index

Curse of the Crimson Throne

I love city sourcebooks. I read 'em even for settings in which I haven't and probably will never play.

When I was deeply entrenched in Eberron, I found the Sharn Index released by Keith Baker to be a great tool. I would love something similar for the Guide to Korvosa. Since it's not out there, to my knowledge, I'm seeking a few things:

1) Permission from Mike and the movers-and-shakers at Paizo to produce a fan index;

2) Partners in this endeavor; and

3) Someone willing to host the document, should it take form.

My thought would be to divide up the pages in the book equally among participants in the project. We'd each create a Word document alphabetically listing the proper nouns in the book. I like Keith's categories of "NPCs" and "Locations, Services, and Organizations"--perhaps formatting NPCs in bold print. Takasi and others have already done some of the latter work in other threads in the "CotCT" subforums, I believe, sans page references.

I'd take on the job of doing my share of the work described above and also combining all of the info to one document.

Take a look at the PathfinderWiki. We have a growing database of NPCs. As long as they're canon and you leave crunch out of it, add away! Now, it seems like you're looking for a simple index, which isn't really what we are trying to make the site into, but if you want more info, like basic descriptions and such, or "in-character" encyclopedic writeups, it's the perfect place for you!

I've had the wiki bookmarked for awhile and have kicked around it; nice resource! It helped me identify the currently-available modules and, for the first time, what their letter coding represents.

But, yes, I'm looking to do something that's easily printable, can be referenced away from the gaming table, and is specific to the Guide to Korvosa. If/when the project gets moving and my wiki skillz develop, I'll add what I can to the wiki.

For fan-produced indexes and the like, as long as you don't include actual information from the source, you don't need permission. As long as you don't try to sell it or to give away our words, it remains a fan-produced thing and isn't (to the best of my non-lawyer knowledge) a violation of copyright. Please don't include actual text from the book, though. Names of people and places and the pages they're on are perfectly fine, though. :)

That's great news; thanks, Mike. What you described--page number references--is where I'm going with this.

Perhaps I'll post in the product discussion thread to try to drum up interest.

I know I had posted a list of Korvosan locales by type (religous, taverns, inns, etc), but I don't know if that got lost on the wiki or not. Have some NPCs from my CotCT campaign as well that I'm willing to share.

I just took a look through this section of the forums, but couldn't find the thread. Pretty sure I read it and a run-down posted by Takasi and one more person. I think I originally came upon it through the DM guide thread. Hm. I'll have another look when I'm not so pooped from a school day.

You had these on the wiki, too, but they were lost in the crash on Sunday. :-(

The list itself was posted in the guide to Korvosa eretta and questions thread

Alrighty, school's finally out, I'm hard at work scouring my collection of "Dungeon" and "Dragon" mags for material for our "Curse of the Crimson Throne" campaign, and digging into the "Gazetteer." I will begin this project by the end of the month. Partners are still welcome!

For Lillith's list: look at the 4th or 5th post here

Well I've pretty much done pages 1-10 thus far, it's not pretty, but it's a start.

Speaking of said list, I need to repost it on the PF Wiki...
