Were they regular subscription shipments, or replacement shipments?
My understanding is that the normal process for packaging subscriptions does not include the step where cards are randomly thrown in.
I just got one in my regular subscription of Red Raven. Usually they come with replacement shipments or non-subscription orders, though.
I've never personally used item cards, but the growing stack of free ones is making me consider using them in my upcoming campaign. I feel ... marketed to...
Anyone else notice they've switched from sending Hero's Hoard to Relics of War?

Mine was from the last closeout sale, with some maps and Lego Tie Fighters. I've seen it mentioned more than a few times, just figured I would double check and wait for someone to say, "Yeah, we do that sometimes because we're cool like that." or "The card hopper sits right next to final packaging and vibrates like crazy."

Yup! Our Warehouse Monkeys will throw a pack of Item Cards in with random orders.
Research into the rhyme or reason of which orders are more likely to get Item Cards had to be called off prematurely due to an inordinate amount of research time devoted to researchers having to dodge the Item Cards being thrown at them. In the end, it was decided that it was better in the long run to just allow the Monkeys their pastime than suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Monkeys (and by "slings and arrows", I mean "Item Cards and poo").
:)
Thanks,
