Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix looks up from the papers and old food at the sound of the shout. "Someone said Lamm was out back in a boat?" "We'd best tread carefully". "Lamm's not lived this long without having a few tricks up his sleeve". "It might be a setup".

"Trap or no, we're running out of warehouse. If he's not there, where the devil is he?"

Liberty's Edge

Once the group is back together in front of the fishery and everyone has the information about Lamm's where abouts, looking around you see only one way to get to the back of the fishery. On the eastside of the building you see a boardwalk that leads to the back. The boardwalk looks slippery as it clings to the side of the fishery, held together by barnicle-thick pilings that have been worn halfway through their thickness at the waterline.

I'll need a balance check once your character steps onto the boardwalk!

Balance: 1d20+2=13

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

1d20 3=22

hmmm...i've had a good run of rolls lately...that just means I will start missing attacks like crazy anytime now

While usually quite sure on her feat, Sun Fei stumbles while nearing her quarry.

balance (1d20+2=9)

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix feeling a bit abashed for spending so much time looking for remnants of his past at the desk, sees the party heading for the boardwalk hurries to join the gang. Don't want to miss anything.

Balance (1d20=17)

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas treads on the boardwalk somewhat apprehensively. His black boots creak and he walks carefully taking the back, crossbow on the ready.

Balance roll: 1d20 2=3 Invisible Castle hates me!

Harrow Point to reroll: 1d20 2=13

Berel tried to remain afoot the slippery board, and carefully inched forward along the surface.

Wooo... 10 total, with the -5 penalty of the armor offset by a rolled 15

Liberty's Edge

Everyone in your group slips and slides their way to the back of the fishery but so far no one has fallen yet. You walk..er..slide about 60 feet and can see the river with nothing interfering the view of it. The boardwalk fogs to the left a bit and seems even more dangerous to walk on! Please make another balance check!!!

You see the boat in front of you, more like a barge now that you got a better look at it. its moored against the building looking like its been here for awhile and has become part of the building. The boardwalk takes you out to the river side of the boat to gain enterance to it. As you look at it you can see an old sign on the back of it saying "Kraken's Folly" The moon is out and the sky is clear so you have no trouble seeing where you are walking.

You got about 35 more feet to go to gain access to the barge.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix breathes a sigh of relief; Hmmm this isn't as slick as it looks.

Balance Check (1d20=10)

If needed Harrow Point check; If not then I'll save it.

Balance Check (1d20=2)

Oh well. Hopefully the first was good enough.

Sun Fei tries unsuccessfully to steady her feet.

Balance take 2 (1d20+2=8)

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas' boots seem too inadequate for keeping a steady step on the ledge...

Balance Check (1d20 2=9)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

1d20 3=22

apparently I should work in the circus

1d20 2=22

I am become Balance, Equalizer of Weights!

Male Human Paladin 1

Berel tiptoed along the plank, trying hard not to slip, when one of the floorboards creaked, and he turned awkwardly towards the sound...

Liberty's Edge

There are a few slips but everyone recovers to keep their footing to get to the barge. As you are slip sliding you do notice in the water a fin slicing through the water below you. Your group begins to climb onto the barge which is difficult due to the wood being so old. Once up you can see the deck is rotten and barly intact, its hull worn and thick with seaweed and barnicles. The barge is held together primarily by layers of old rope that lash it securely to the pilings that support the fishery and the nearby boardwalk. A single wooden door leading into the aft cabin bears a crude painting of a red fish on its surface. The barge is about 45 feet long. The door is about 15 feet away from where you are, and the boards underneath you are quite weak.

Make a reflex save!

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

1d20 6=9

Inros' overconfidence in his catlike moves to the barge lead him to complacency and he is not as ready as he should be.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Perhaps being a bit jumpy with his revenge so near at hand, makes Thelix particularly light on his feet.

Reflex Save (1d20=18)

Reflex: 1d20 4=21

Sun Fei manages to hold balance a little better as they climb on board.

Reflex (1d20+2=15)

Male Human Paladin 1

Berel lost his balance for good, and even grabbing for any solid object that happened to be nearby came too late to save him

3... just 3... http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1666184/

Reflex Save (1d20 3=22)

Andreas strides with surprising nimbleness, his black coat billowing in the wind of the night.

Liberty's Edge

Once on the boat you can feel the gentle sway of it from the river. The deck looks very dangerous to walk on but you try it anyway, your revenge on Lamm keeps you going. Inros is the first to make his way to the door but only gets a few feet when the deck creaks and groans under his weight, he gets two more steps before the deck gives out and he falls into the barges dark hold. Thelix, Allarion and Sun have no trouble getting to the door, moving quickly to gain access to the hold to see how their new friend is doing. Berel leans over the hole t and shouts sown to Inros to see if he is ok but more boards from the deck give way and he falls into the hold himself. Andreas seeing this moves quickly to the others also wanting to see the fate of his friends.

Inros and Berel
Each of you take 3 pts damage from the fall

Once everyone is down into the hold and you see Berel and Inros are ok you check out the area. The air in this room is thick and musty.Thick sheets of cobwebs hang from the walls and mounds of blankets, cushions and straw clutter the floor. A narrow flight of stairs leads down to the south into the ships bowels....

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Feeling uncomfortable about the shadowed hold, Andreas dug into his leather backpack and proceeded to fill and light his lantern.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros stretches and flexes, trying to work out the pain from falling. "Sorry about the noise. I hope it didn't alert anyone." I trade my bow for my sword, figuring this may be some more close in fighting.

"Looks like no where to go but down. Is there anything in here?"

search 1d20 5=11

edit: forgot to say...the search is through the blankets and such

As you search the blanket a tiny monstrous spider jumps out from his hidding spot attacking you! make an init and attack roll!

Does that go for all of us or just for Inros?

Sun Fei has moved to the door already and is ready to open it just before Inros found the spider.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

I am startled by the spider and bring my sword around to cut into the arachnid.

Init: 1d20 3=13

Attack: 1d20 1=11

Damage (as if it will matter with that attack roll): 1d8=1

wow - I guess the spider really took me off guard. meh on the attack and crap on the damage

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas lifted his lantern high to provide enough lighting to keep the small vermin in check, but clearly not desiring to engage anything as lowly (and disgusting) as a spider.

Liberty's Edge

Inros jumps back as the spider lunges at him, he takes a swing with his sword but misses as the spider lands in front of him for another attack. They both face off, the spider noticing the others in the room sways back and forth not sure what to do...

Next action! There is room to jump in and help against the spider if anyone wants too.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix seeing his newfound comrade in trouble steps forward to help slay the belligerent beast.

Initiative (1d20=11)

Greatsword attack roll (1d20 2=13)

Damage (2d6 1=10)

Dark Archive

Eager to move on, Sun Fei jumps into action intending to destroy the distracting spider quickly.

init 14, atk 15, dmg 10

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros, embarrassed by his stumbling attack earlier, swings his sword again:
1d20 1=14

damage: 1d8=1

Liberty's Edge

Three swords race in on the undeciding spider and squash it to little pieces of nothingness, blankets are shredded in the process. After the spider has been dealt with, the party moves on down into the hold of the barge. Its dark and dank, the ship's hold smells of mildew. Several barrels, crates, and other containers lie stacked here and there, and a shallow layer of river water has collected in puddles. A soft scatching sound comes from behind a few of the crates....

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros points to the crates where the sounds are coming from. He gestures to his fellow investigators, holding his free hand palm-down, about waist-high, and shrugs his shoulders. He whispers to whomever is closest
"Maybe one of the kids? Or another spider? Or something worse?"

"Just be cautious before striking the unknown. But once it is in front of you strike quick and hard." offers Sun Fei as she approaches the source of the sound.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas keeps out of range, but close enough to keep providing illumination. "I hope that vermin you just hacked to pieces was an adult"

I'm back from vacation. Thanks for holding my spot, Zoomackula.

Hal motions with his hands as if pushing the crates over onto whatever is behind them.

Do the crates look small enough to be pushed over by one person?

Liberty's Edge

As you all slowly creep up to where you think the noise is coming from you can see all of the crates would be easily lifted by any of you or moved or tipped. With Andreas's light shining at the crates you spot movement, a larger version, the size of a cat, shoots across from behind one crate to another. The sound is getting louder as the light and the noise from your party has made the spiders aware of you presents.

Welcome back Hal!

Welcome back Hal!

Thanks!

"Burn them and let's run! We are here for Lamm, not vermin!"

"We are on a wooden boat; the fire might spread too quickly. Let us go back to back and keep an eye on the ceiling above us"

"I agree with Hal. Fire is the great cleanser and this place stinks of rot. Let's put the whole thing to torch and prevent Lamm from using this boat to escape!" Allarion looks rather crazed with the idea of burning a hated enemy's escape route.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

"I'm sure Lamm has an escape plan". "He hasn't lived this long by allowing himself to be pinned down". "Besides I want to see his dead body, preferrable at my hands".
"Besides that, not only would it draw attention from authorities (Arson is a crime)". "With the way this area of the docks is built, we could burn down half the city". "Lets just snoop this guy out, and get our just revenge".

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Thelix and Andreas have a point. We are here to get Lamm. Let's leave this distraction and move on to our real quarry. If they won't leave us alone, then we'll do what we must.

Sun Fei nods and heads for the door, opening it with her sword ready.

"Yes, I see that you are right."

Hal falls into the back rank of the line in order to maximize his chance of flanking.

Liberty's Edge

The group steps back, looking around the room once again you notice that the only way in or out of the room is the way you came, back up!
