Background

Spoiler:

Don't know if you've created an OOC thread yet, so here is my character background. It looks like the only bonus feat I qualify for (And most others for that matter) is Harrowed so I'll take that feat.
The Story of Thelix Moody

The memories of the time before that slimy, rat-bastard Gaedren Lamm fooled him, are vague and forgettable. Mostly memories of sleepless nights huddled around warm sewer grates, and terrifying dashes down garbage-strewn allies after swiping the odd worm eaten apple or moldy bread crust. Thelix was a child of the streets and as such was only too eager to listen and believe Gaedren’s lackeys lies about warm beds, fresh bread, and a place to call home. Little did he know that he would have been better off to stay on the streets. It was a miserable time. Many of the other kids got sick, and went away. Some just never woke up; the hunger didn’t go away, he slept on a hard cold floor, and to top if off, he now had to work from dawn to well into the evening.

One day Thelix and a couple of the other “big” kids were sent to pick up some supplies escorted by one of Lamm’s goons. A perfectly timed vat of wash water was spilled directly from a 4th floor window onto the unsuspecting goon. In a rage he ran up the stair, forgetting for a moment his charges. Seeing his opportunity Thelix took off. He ran all day and hid out by night in an abandoned warehouse. The sackcloth he took as his bed was not comfortable, but at least he was free. The morning sun came through a hole in the eaves of the building, where a board was missing, and glinted on something partially exposed in some sawdust in the corner. Thelix went to pick it up and found is was a strange silver painted wooden symbol of a mountain pierced by a big sword. As he picked the symbol up he felt a strange tingling sensation. As he pulled the implement towards him he noticed it was attached to a long leather tether. The tether was hung on something, and as Thelix dug in he uncovered a gigantic Sword taller than he was. This was worth something. Maybe he could sell it and have enough money to travel away from Korvosa, and forever away from Gaedren Lamm.

A couple of days later Thelix had made his way to the midlands. He asked around and took his “roll of carpet” to a swordsmith recommended by the citizen he had asked. The rough looking Dwarven Smith Brindel Moody took one look at the sword, and immediately ran to the front of his shop locking the door, and pulling down his shade.

“Where did you get this boy?” he shouted grabbing Thelix firmly by the collar. Thelix fearing for his life related his story to the Dwarf. The dwarf feeling a spark of potential within the young human decided then and there to take him under his wing. They spent the next seven years growing closer to each other, and finally Brindel adopted the boy officially. He taught him not only the profession of weapon smithing, but also the ways of his god Gorum. Though not commonly worshiped in Korvosa, Brindel led a small cult of worshippers, of the Iron God, mostly consisting of Dwarves now living in Korvosa. These meeting where the hearty dwarves worshiped their violent god were Thelix’s favorite times. He felt a connection to The Lord in Iron, as in some way, he felt he was responsible for his fortunate turn of events.

When Thelix was about eleven years old (He is not sure of his real age) Brindel was fortunate enough to win a contract supplying, and repairing blades for the infamous Hellknights. This meant that they were now able to live comfortably, and get a bigger house. In addition they hired a live in housekeeper to clean and cook meals by the name of Gyndora. She brought books with her when she moved in, and taught young Thelix to read and write. He especially liked the histories, and legends of old Korvosa. She also brought her old mother Pylexia with her. This strange lady mumbled to herself a lot, but knew a lot about herbs and poultices, so she proved her worth. In addition she owned an ancient deck of Harrow cards, which she used to tell Thelix’s fortunes on more than one occasion.
Finally Thelix’s life was complete he had a steady income helping his father in the forge, a good place to live, and had even taken over performing the services to Gorum. He was even considering gathering support and applying for a space in The Pantheon of Many. But something was still missing in his life. Gaedren Lamm still lived free.
