Inros takes sight on the dog running across the catwalk and lets loose an arrow at it but it harmlessly thuds into the wall as it races down the stairs to the main floor.the dog is within 30ft
Berel takes off down the stairs and meets the dog at the bottom and takes a swing at it and misses as the old hound dog moves faster than it looks. Thelix takes a swing at the orc which goes wide of the mark as the orc is trying to stay out of the way of the female warrior before it. Allarion makes a attack on the fast moving dog and misses also. The orc roars with laughter at you all and the dog is busy dodging attacks to make one of his own.

Andreas the orc and dog are still up and living so go ahead and make your roll if you want too. To everyone, please tell me which weapon you are using in your posts when you make attack rolls. Just so I get the flavor of what you are trying to do.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

"I'll give you something to laugh at!"
Inros pulls out another arrow and shoots at the orc in the second round, taking advantage of the precise shot feat to slip the shot past my companions

attack 1d20 4=16 +1 more for point blank

damage 1d8=4 +1 more for point blank

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Ranged Attack Roll - Crossbow (1d20 2=4)

Here goes a Harrow point down the drain...

Liberty's Edge

Andreas takes his shot but lodges his bolt into the wall behind the laughing half orc.

Everyone make their rolls and state your actions for the next round!!

Hal takes another swing at the hound with his short sword.

"I hate dogs!" Attack roll: 13I did not figure in flanking bonus. Does it apply?

If the attack hits
Damage:7, sneak attack from flanking:6

Do we roll new initiative each round or proceed with the same number from previous rounds?

Male Human Paladin 1

Berel grimassed, as his blade dug deeply into the plank. More to free it than anything else, he yanked it up, and almost incidently returned it to the fight against the evildoer. "surrender now, and it may spare your miserable life" he hissed, as his blade drew blood.

Attack:http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1641248/ 23
Damage: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1641257/ 15

"Laugh all you want big man." says Sun Fei then adjusts her attack to take advantage of the glaring holes in his defense and strikes with vicious efficiency.

maintaining punishing stance (+1d6dmg, -2AC)
attacking with sapphire nightmare blade (concentration check vs. ac, if successful +1d6dmg)
and Criting!

Concentration Check; Atk;Dmg;Sapphire Nightmare Blade Dmg (1d20+9=18, 1d20+3=23, 1d10+1d6+2=9, 1d6=3)
Crit Confirm(1d20 3=14)crit damage (1d10 2=10)

If 18 beats his AC, he is flat footed and then if 14 hits his FF AC, he gets Critted for a total of 22dmg!

Allarion moves up to the dog and strikes: 1d20+1=20, 1d6+1=6 Waitaminute? Is that a possible crit using the short sword? It is!

Confirm: 1d20 1=16, 1d6 1=5

WOOT!

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

Andreas contemplates his unloaded crossbow with a slight look of disappointment in his face as he calmly observes how his companions make an apt display of swordsmanship.

I like to use the same init roll for each combat round, its a lot easier in the pbp so we dont have to wait for each person to post!

Since the dog is moving around so much it would be hard to get a flanking bonus.

Liberty's Edge

The laughing half orc takes another swing at Sun with its flail missing again as the female warrior dances around his blow and delivers her own attack, hitting the orc who stops laughing as his mouth fills up with blood. Mean while Berel attacks the dancing dog and finally stops the dog in its tracks as it tries to take a nip at Berel in return but fails as Berel's great sword takes the dogs head off sending it across the floor. An arrow strikes the falling orc and a sword strike digs into the dogs body making sure the enemy is dead for sure.

The boys seeing all the blood shed bolt up the stairs you came down and fly out of the room. By the time the battle is over they are out of the building and scattered to the winds, never to be seen again.

Is there anything else of interest in this room? Does it have other exits? What direction was the orc yelling for help from?

Male Human Paladin 1

Berel saw the children scatter before the invaders, and secretly was glad for it. It meant that there would be less chances for horrible incidents along the way. "Alright. Let us press on. I would not want Lamm to get away at the very last moment"

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

"I agree with Berel. We need to keep on. Should we head in where the dog came from?"

are there any other exits here?

Liberty's Edge

Your standing in the middle of the room looking at the north wall. The north wall is over the water. To your left is a stairwell that leads up to where you came from.....to your right your see another stairwell(catwalk) that leads up into parts of the building that you have not seen in a while for those who have been here before....There is a large vat behind you which stinks of fish. To your right your see a whole in the floor where they bring up fish from the river. those are the three exits in the room. Underneath the catwalks you see hamocks for the boys to sleep in.....

"I doubt the fish vat holds anything of value but it might be worth a look. Also, I don't want anything that is hiding in it to sneak up behind us. How about we surround it and probe the water with a long weapon? Unfortunately, my sword is just long enough for working up close."

"I'm not here for fishing or treasure hunting; I'm here for one reason: killing Lamm. Once that's done, you can fish as much as you like."

There are large poles against the wall that are used by the boys to stir the fish mixture you remember

Allarion the Urban Druid wrote:

"If the fish in that vat is capable of climbing out and biting we should know now, when we can surround it, rather than let it follow us out of the room."

Hal takes a pole with his left hand and prods the vat to see if anything is in besides dead fish.He keeps his short sword in his right hand.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

"Let us go over this whole floor before thinking of following other venues. Nothing worse than leaving enemies behind to cut or backs" Andyr nods at Inros, "looking for the origin of the dog would be a good course of action... but let us be ready, his barking has probably alerted others". He readies again his crossbow, a smirk revealing his frustration at his lack of accuracy.

You stir around the vat with one of the large poles but find nothing but a fowl smell as you stir...

Your group heads up the catwalk the dog came from and go through the open door into a small hallway (10 ft long) and see another open door leading into what you'd guess as the main room you first looked into (the front door of the building). You can see that the door is also wide open and a man is fleeing out of it into the street beyond.....

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros breaks into a panicked run after the man, holding his empty bow in one hand as he runs. "Someone is running away!"

Hal, I like the new avatar.

Male Human Paladin 1

Berel's first instinct was to give chase, and since the young noblemen never had been the brightest one, he followed that impulse immediately, sprinting after the fleeing criminal.

Is the man armed or wearing armor?

Sun Fei gives chase as well when she sees the man running from the building.

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

"Some of us should stay here and keep watch on the door... maybe Lamm is still inside and that's some kind of decoy". Andreas walked to the street door and stood by it, crossbow on the ready, keeping a close watch.

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix takes a moment to explore the room the man just bolted from.

Zoomackula:

I am going to be out of the country from Thursday, the 10th to the 24th and just learned that I will not have internet access. Do you want to DMPC Hal? If you want to off him and open the slot to another player I will understand.

Its hard to tell but it looks to you to be somekind of leathers

Liberty's Edge

Berel, Sun and Inros give chase down the street after the fleeing man..He is real fast and you keep pace but are not gaining on him...

Mean while Thelix searches the room and sees a single desk that sits in the middle of the room, a moldy chair pushed up agaisnt the far side. A small pile of ratty furss and straw is heaped under the table. On the desk you see a pile of papers, mostly dealing with orders or delivery times.

Andreas guards outside the fishery, he sees his fellow haters of Lamm run off down the street after an unknown man. After they are out of site it gets quiet again around the fishery.

approximately how far ahead of us is he? any innocent bystanders around?

Male Human Paladin 1

Probably I'll follow him until he turns a corner, then swear under my breath, and turn back. No sense letting Lamm escape over catching a lesser crook

Male Human Cleric 2 / Fighter 1

Thelix carefully searches the Desk (Take 20 for a total of 21)

Male Human - Chelaxian Wizard 1

I don't look only at the main door, I throw careful glances at both sides of the building, in case something comes out of the side doors

Hal pulls out his dagger and throws it at the fleeing man's back but it goes wide and into the ground.

Attack roll: 11

He's about 60 feet in front of you! Its about 11pm and there is not much traffic in this area at this time of night. Right now no one is around!

Liberty's Edge

The unknown man stays ahead of you all and begins to turn on to another street. Hal throws a dagger at the man but does not come close to hitting him.

Andreas sees nothing entering or leaving the fishery as you stand guard outside.

Thelix finds more paper of the same from on top of the desk plus some old moldy food scraps.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros stops, nocks his bow and releases an arrow.

attack 1d20 4=17

damage if needed 1d8=8

Having little in the way of good long ranged offense, Sun Fei tries to think of ways to get past the running man and cut him off but can't think of anything.

know (local) (1d20 6=9)

"That man is not Lamm. Therefore, that man is not important!" Allarion scowls and heads back inside, looking for a door to try that hasn't been tried before. Seeing one, he heads through it, sword drawn.

Hal calls out to his fellow pursuers:"Allarion is right, let's regroup and find Lamm."

Hal retries his dagger from where it landed and returns to Lamm's fishery.

Liberty's Edge

Inros takes aim and lets fly an arrow at the fleeing man. The man stumbles as the arrow hits him in the back, he spralls out onto the street and lays there in pain, he trys to get at the arrow but he can't reach it. Sun who was about to run off in another direction to cut him off stops and runs up to the man followed by Inros.

Hal and Berel join the others back at the fishery, He sees Andreas keeping an eye on things outside while Thelix is in the main room searching around. Allarion burst thru on of the doors in the main room and sees a pair of bunk beds sitting against the far wall of this room to either side of a boarded up window.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

I turn the man over, and get face to face with him. "Where is Lamm?" I ask with a growl. "Be quick and truthful, or my friends and I will show you pain you never imagined."

Liberty's Edge

The man yells out in pain as the arrow sinks deeper as he is turned over. He tries to talk but has trouble getting any words out, whispering to Inros, In the boat....behind........the fishery is where you will...........find himmmmm..... he says with his last breath.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Urban Ranger 3

Inros runs back to the others, and tells him what they man said
"Quick! The man we chased said Lamm is in a boat in the back!"

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

"There is no time to waste, then." Berel replied, trying not to be too eager about things. The Revenge they were taking was beginning to become a little too savage for his tastes, but for the moment, they were still serving the greater good.

Sun Fei, standing over the dying henchman, nods to the other two and takes off running back to the fishery to tell the others.
